  1. A rethink because it upsets racists??? As has been said countless times, God forbid we should do anything that upsets the racists! The aim of the knee gesture is clearly working because we are still talking about it and it is encouraging racists out of the woodwork (not that many of them need any more encouragement). The problem we have has nothing to do with taking the knee. If they changed the gesture to standing on your head or raising both arms in the air, the usual suspects would find a reason to diss it. The problem is the people who oppose those who oppose racism. Why would anybody who opposes racism a) spend so much time and energy attacking those who oppose racism and b) spend so much time and energy trying to disprove that racisms exists to the level that it is a problem for our society when there is so much evidence from those being abused and elsewhere. It was no surprise to read that the Anti Woke Brothers are buddies in real life. They follow each other around these threads like a well honed tag team. Just like the Hungarian Ultras, they have been exposed for the ignorant individuals they are and it is good to finally see them properly challenged on here at last. The more people like this that become exposed by gestures like taking the knee the better and it shows that it is worthwhile. We might not be able to change the attitudes of the usual suspects on here, but at least their ignorance is being challenged.
  2. They are a strange bunch Whelk but they clearly have an agenda a gang up on anybody that speaks out against it. It’s being going on for years with one particular poster who gets his panties in a bunch if ever I post anything calling out a right winger or posting in supporting of normal people who are getting it in the neck because of their skin colour or religion. He has been joined by a bunch of like minded people with the same issues. Apparently my views (which I think are shared by many on here) don’t count because I don’t have a bunch of besties who are black or follow Islam? By that logic my views about right wing extremists or megalomaniac dictators count for nothing either because I am not friends with any of them.It is truly bizarre that people who claim that they are not racist or Islamophobic call out people who post in support of people on the end of abuse. The fact that they form little cliques and gang up on posters speaks volumes about them but they have outed themselves over the years so that isn’t a bad thing and it is good to see more people calling them out for what they are. I’d rather be a sanctimonious poster than an online right wing bully with zero self awareness.
  3. Perhaps the issue should be why the Premier League thought that he was a “fit and proper owner” of an EPL club? Anyway he is here and actively trying to sell the club. We can only hope that he finds a buyer who is better. As for the money being spirited away? Do you have any evidence of that? It seems that every last penny of income is being used to keep the club going. We are trying to compete in a league where the big clubs just keep getting bigger and the small clubs are running to stand still. You can blame Gao all you like but unless we find someone to throw the same kind of money around as City and Chelsea we are going to have to keep doing what we are doing and rely of unearthing gems for a few million quid a time.
  4. He is very weak in the air, lacks positional awareness of both himself and the opposition and when he makes mistakes those often lead to goals. He shouldn’t be starting regularly in an EPL because he has weaknesses in areas that a CB should be strong but he is fine as a back up, which is what he will be again soon. He is capable of putting in a good performance but he is equally capable of being a liability. The way he casually passes to the opposition when bringing the ball out of defence in pretty much every game is something a player of his experience should have eradicated from his game by now.
  5. Or instead of time wasting we could try and score more goals?
  6. Do you honestly think that Gao is involved in choosing which players we buy? As for speaking English, there are plenty of players born here that I can’t understand what they are saying half the time. It has been made abundantly clear that the Board are running this club, not Gao.
  7. Not sure how you can say that after 1 or 2 games but certainly Newcastle and Burnley are just as capable of getting relegated as we are.
  8. What’s wrong with our recent signings? They have been fine.
  9. Not sure if “despised” is the right word but he certainly divided opinion and came in for some stick from some quarters. They were different types of player and whilst Wanyama was solid for us I think JWP has more in his locker.
  10. I have no idea what your politics are but you seem to follow the usual suspects pack around (although you aren’t as joined at the hip as they seem to be).
  11. Hi Delldays/Batman. You have been banned from this place twice yet here you still are. How is that? Anyway, as you and Badger seem to be getting upset about something I had no control over I am going to put the record straight. I deliberately started a separate thread about Incels as it wanted to keep it apart from the tragic murders in Plymouth as this new “cult” is worthy of a discussion away from this sad event. For reasons known only to themselves, a mod took my opening post, put it into this thread and closed my original thread. Had I posted in the Plymouth Killings thread I wouldn’t have made that tongue in cheek comment (funny how you right wingers lose your sense of humour when you see an opportunity to take the high ground and when it suits your agenda and suddenly discover some empathy for others). It seems as if you can make jibes and snide comments about liberal or left wing posters all day long but if you have a light hearted dig at the right wing posters you get grief. Oh well. If making an off the cuff comment about sad right wing involuntary celibates is the worse thing I have done this week, I can live with that. As for your comments Lighthouse, I don’t envy anyone having to moderate a football forum and I appreciate that it is a hard job, but you seem very selective about what you consider to be “tiresome”. I assume that it was you that closed my Incels thread and put my OP into this thread where it was no longer in context? You then have a pop at my quote from my post that you yourself had moved and placed into a different context. Thanks for that! I am not calling for anyone to be banned. What I would like to see is a clamp down on clear trolling, wind up merchants, and bullying by posters who gang up in others. Whatever you say about being even handed, right wing posters seem to get away with a lot more than liberal or left wing posters here and they certainly gang up on others more.
  12. It was a tongue in cheek comment. Hence the winky thing. Why so touchy?
  13. This seems perfectly reasonable to me. Not sure about the Howe part though. I don’t think that Ralph is a poor manager but he needs to be with a better, more intelligent squad than this.
  14. Far too sensible mate. We want a meltdown and we want it now! You are absolutely right of course. We never win at Goodison and yes, we have a very tough start which it seems counts for nothing. We have an awful lot of work to do but then so do many other teams looking at the results over the weekend. Calling for the managers head every time we lose a match doesn’t help. I think we all know that we need a quality CB and until we get one we shall continue to leak goals.
  15. No, I wonder why you don’t do anything about the trolls and the WUMs. You let a small group of people constantly jump all over posts that go against their agendas. Isn’t it time you sorted it out? For a site that charges money for membership it is very poorly regulated.
  16. https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/aug/15/incel-ideology-a-new-blurry-form-of-extremism-incubated-online
  17. Probably the least surprising cabal on an Internet forum ever. They follow each other around and back each other up on threads which support their agendas. Not only is it very tiresome, it also makes this place an unpleasant read. A gang of bullies should not be tolerated but they get away with it day in day out. All that happens is that part of threads get moved to the Lounge or shut down. It’s about time the Mods took proper action.
  18. Another looney cult to worry about. Involuntary celibate, far right fanatics. We may have some on here. 😉 The Internet can be a wonderful thing but when it brings people with deep issues together like this you have to wonder if greater controls are needed to monitor the darker side of the web and social media Should he have had his gun licence back? Clearly not. Should he have been in a programme to help him sort his life out. Clearly. How many more of these people are out there just waiting to completely lose the plot?
  19. I had a lot of problems with the screen freezing with hesgoal last season and it did it again in the Brentford game tonight. When I log out and try and log back in again it takes ages. Am I doing something wrong? I have VPN but it always tries to sell me another one when I log in.
  20. Dier a few years ago yes, but he is not the player he was. As for Chambers, I still can’t believe we got £16m for him. I don’t think he would walk into our side. I think he would just be a squad player if he came back. Hopefully we are looking for something better.
  21. It’s almost worth getting a second mortgage out to buy him for £78m myself just to witness that! 😉
  22. Romeu, Walcott and JWP have plenty of experience between them.
  23. Yet another example of thread censorship when talking out against those who have a problem with those who speak out against racism.
  24. Sadly I have just seen this odd post from an odd poster as it was quoted. Why would someone who doesn’t know me or anything about me write such childish nonsense? I wouldn’t normally bother to respond to his usual Wummery but as I have nothing better to do, here we go. For my first 10 years I lived a stone’s throw from Brixton. My infants class at school was mixed race and my best friend who lived opposite was black. All of the jobs I have had have involved working with BAME people. The guy who cuts my hair is a Muslim. The landlady until recently of the pub opposite to where I live has a mixed race family, all of whom I know. I could go on but I can’t be bothered. He really needs to grow up and stop talking bollocks.
  25. It is absolutely staggering that a small amount of people can get themselves so worked up and spend so much of their lives posting against a few blokes briefly kneeling down or warming up in a garish shirt more so than they do about racial abuse or homophobia. Don’t these people have jobs or families or pets or constructive hobbies like painting. What do they have on their CVs under hobbies? Attacking anti racists and Pro LBGT on football forums? None of these people seem to have an ounce of empathy or the ability to put themselves into other people’s shoes. The way that a BAME poster was treated on a thread about racism was appalling. These people think they are being clever for being anti woke but as has been said before, they are part of the problem. There have been plenty of threads displaying staggering levels of ignorance and zero empathy but this one plumbs new depths. Strangely threads concerning capital and serious offences get closed down while those that give the anti woke brigade full reign are left to fester.
