  1. Like Turkish you clearly do not understand how the ignore function works. You can chose to read individual posts if you wish at the press of a button. In answer to your question, one on your list has been on ignore for some time, one went on yesterday and one isn’t on it because it is funny reading his posts as he is clearly still stuck half way through the last century. You also managed to miss some names. So yes, there is a bunch of usual suspects on ignore and your attempt at smart arsery has back fired.
  2. Back to the Euros. There was an interesting feature in The Guardian the other day about using penalties to decide the final. Given that it is a team game it is a bit harsh that it falls to an individual to fail to decide the competition but what other way is there to break the deadlock? Readers were asked for their suggestions. One said if it is still level pegging after extra time share the cup with both sides designated winners. Can’t see that happening as we like a definite outcome. Another suggested that it should be awarded to the best team. As we know, the best team doesn’t always win which makes the sport more appealing but it might encourage both sides to go for it. There would be some kind of scoring system involving possession, shots on goal, fouls etc. Of all of the suggestions this one looked the most logical to me as it rewards the team who put in the most effort to win the game within the laws of the game. I can’t see it changing though. The penalty competition provides plenty of drama at the end and at least it finishes on a high (for some). In my preferred option you would have to wait while the statos checked their figures before announcing the winner over the tannoy. Not so exciting! I don’t know what the answer is, but people shouldn’t have to live with the shame of missing one for the rest of their lives. I know they could make a mistake during the game which affects the outcome but at least they have 90 or 120 minutes in which to have a positive impact on the game. Just one misplaced kick and the likes of Southgate, Waddle, Pearce and now Rashford, Sancho and Saka have that on their CV’s for the rest of their days.
  3. Yes where is he? He has let the gang down! Do you think they wear matching ties or have a secret handshake? ps for Egg, I have most of the Usual Suspects on ignore so don’t get to read much of what they post. It really isn’t difficult to second guess what their position is going to be on any given subject concerning social injustice.
  4. I understand perfectly well how incongruous it is for white people to tell people on the end of racial abuse how they should or should not react to it and how bizarre it is for people who swear blind that they are not racist to boo people demonstrating about racism. As for shutting “people like me” up, you are entitled to make your point every day, why can’t I? Why does it upset you so much that someone posts against racism? If what I say offends you so much just put me on ignore. You like to hand out advice, here is some for you. Go and read the bit in Red’s post about walking a mile in someone else’s shoes.
  5. I am sorry to hear about your experiences Red but you seem to take all of this crap with a fair amount of good grace and pragmatism. I am not sure if I could do the same so fair play! Sadly you don’t have to dig very deep to find these stories of abuse and intolerance on a regular basis. The abuse after the final and the fuss about players taking the knee have helped raise awareness of this problem within our society, yet it is stories like these that really strike at the heart of the matter. You can dismiss what happened at the Euros as the actions of a few mindless idiots, but Red’s experiences show that it is so much more than that and more deeply ingrained in every day life. It has been over 20 years since the Macpherson report yet we are still talking about institutionalised racism within the police. Racism reared it ugly head in football in the 70’s yet half a century on we are still talking about what needs to be done to combat it. The amount of hate crime reported has climbed sharply since Brexit, with many British born citizens being told to “go back to your own country”. You come on the social media platforms to call out racism and support those taking a stance against it and immediately become a target for the WUMs who seem to have nothing better to do with their time than help muddy the waters and indirectly support those who are spreading ignorance, intolerance and hate. What these forums need is more people like you who can come on and talk about your experiences first hand. It quickly shuts up those who try and pretend that we don’t have a significant problem with racism and intolerance here. Anything that raises awareness helps fight the widespread ignorance of how this cancer in our society affects everyday people. It will never be eradicated completely but the more we do as a society, being it footballers showing solidarity before matches to people calling out ignorance and intolerance or just sharing their experiences on social media platforms, the more this behaviour will become unacceptable and we will spend more time talking about sport, not what happened to people because of their skin tone. Of all of the threads here about racial and religious intolerance including this part of the Euro thread, I would say that your one post is the only one that puts everything perfectly into perspective and sums up where we are in the UK in 2021. You mentioned being worried about the WUMs and it isn’t pleasant being on the receiving end of their attacks. There are also those who seem to have completely missed the point of what you were saying as evidenced by the responses, but the vast majority of those who use this forum will be pleased that you posted, I’m sure.
  6. And the winner is! 😂Absolutely priceless!!!
  7. What is impressive is the speed in which they jump on anything that remotely speaks out against racism. It’s as though they are a tag team. If one isn’t available another is ready to step in to fight the good fight against anyone having the temerity to speak out against racism. They have got this down to a fine art. As I have said before though, the upside is that these people have outed themselves and their agenda is there for all to see. Here’s a good game for those bored on a hot afternoon. Post something in support of anything anti racist and within minutes I can guarantee that one of 5 people will respond with a counter post.
  8. You do write some nonsense Weston. When have I ever claimed to be an expert on racism? You don’t have to be an expert to understand that there is a problem with it in this country which needs to be fronted up and dealt with, which is happening. As for this place, do you honestly believe that if there were many black posters on here these threads would develop the way they do? Whenever people post against racism (or Islamophobia for that matter) a small number of you jump all over it like a nasty rash. You might like to ask yourself why you people have such a problem with these issues.
  9. Reading back over the last few pages and it begs the question is this a prime example of tone deafness? A bunch of white blokes deciding what constitutes racial abuse and then trying to tell the abused how they should or should not react to it. 😂
  10. The usual tactic of deflection eh? Let’s deal with a typo and make that the issue. A common tactic used by the far right. But thanks for the heads up and it has now been corrected. Good to see that you can get worked up about something Duckie, perhaps you can work your way up from typos to racial abuse in time 😉
  11. Why would I have a meltdown? This bloke is the Turkish/hypo of Spiked and carries the same level of blind, wilful ignorance. No wonder he is right up your street. Apparently he believes that football fans who hurl racists abuse at players are not racist, just passionate about football. Ok. If you read his comments about the victims of Jimmy Saville you would realise that using his views to back up an argument is not the best plan if you want to be taken seriously. Regarding the taking of the knee campaign, it seems to be working amazingly well as far as bringing the people that need educating the most from out of the woodwork and into plain sight. Oh and by the way, it is possible to have someone on ignore but read their posts occasionally if you chose to.
  12. We are obviously not reading the same posts then. The ones I am reading seem to be playing down the problem. As for taking the knee not working, it is meant to raise awareness which is exactly what it has been doing. You see, being on a high horse let’s you see things better 😉 The issue that I am struggling with and I don’t think it has been address yet is why are people who claim to be against racism either attacking those who are posting against racism and/or trying to minimise the problem in this country?
  13. No it doesn’t. I have never heard a report saying that the abuse is being carried out by “vast swathes of the country” and feel free to publish any that do. It is just a ploy by those who are apologising for the poor behaviour carried out by enough of our population frequently enough to make it an issue. Seriously, why wouldnt the news report on the racists abuse especially when there has been a lot of focus on players taking the knee throughout the competition. Why are they doing it? Because there is constant racial abuse not just of players but of many many people who aren’t “one of us” on a daily basis. There is a saying “ignorance is bliss”. In this case ignorance is just ignorance.
  14. You really don’t get it do you? Half a dozen idiots FFS. Listen to black people. It happens every single day to someone and you think it is half a dozen people affected by alcohol? Seriously? Isn’t it odd how you try and diminish racism in this country by trying to depict is as carried out by half a dozen people. When I tried to say that we should tar all Muslims as terrorists on other threads I got jumped on by you and those like you for saying that these people were in a small minority! So minorities are only insignificant when it suits your agenda? I see. You are really doing your best to minimise the problem aren’t you? Is there anything worse than a white guy telling the black people of this country they don’t have a problem with abuse because it is only half a dozen drunken idiots? The abuse dished out to our footballers is just the tip of the ice burg and fortunately most decent normal people understand that and support the attempts to deal with it. You on the other hand just want to underplay it and pretend it isn’t a problem. Well it is to black people. Not only are you a WUM, you are an embarrassment to the rest of us. Do yourself a favour and go back to your ITK wind up persona, at least that was mildly amusing. This is just ignorant and boorish. For the last time, of course this country isn’t “full of racists” and none of us have ever said that as well you know. But there are enough of them (and their apologists) to make it a problem that we can’t, and shouldn’t, ignore.
  15. Because that is not a contradiction. Perhaps you marked the wrong bit or perhaps you don’t understand what contradiction means? As for wanting to eradicate every single racist, perhaps you would be kind enough to copy and paste and put in bold where I have said that. Why you and others have do put words into others mouths I just don’t understand. I will make it easy for you. I like most normal decent people, want to live in a world where people treat each other with basic respect. I expect anti social behaviour to be dealt with and not tolerated. I don’t expect for one minute that murder, sexual assault, theft, abuse etc will every be eradicated. That doesn’t mean that they should be just accepted and tolerated. Where they occur they should be dealt with. Do you seriously have a problem with any of that? If you are against racism, why would you be ok with the booing of a bunch of footballers who are making a stand against it? If you are against racism why would you spend all day having a pop at people who support 3 of our own players who have been racially abused when representing their country in a sporting event? I suggest that you and your like minded buddies on here have a good look at your motives when posting on social media because, from what I am reading, you are part of the problem.
  16. Where is the contradiction?
  17. Yet again you don’t read what was sad and reply to what is going on in your own head! Provide evidence that I “scream everyone is racist”. You are so desperate to call out people who are against racism you constantly make a fool of yourself. Yes, racists are in the minority, I have never, ever said otherwise. They are in the minority just as murderers and rapists are in the minority. It doesn’t mean that murders and rapes are not a serious problem does it? Every single day people across this country are racially abused. Are you ok with that because the abusers are in the minority? You spend a great deal of time and energy having a dig at those who are speaking out against racism. Why is that exactly? Despite Southgate, Rashford, Saka and Sancho all speaking out about the racial abuse that had been aimed at them, you demanded to see evidence. Their word not good enough for you? Why is that exactly? What is encouraging us that more posters here are calling out people like you for what you are. The positive reaction to the defacing of Marcus Rashford’s mural has also been brilliant. Our PM, who is no stranger to making racist comments himself, has finally been pressured into doing more about it. Finally. I agree with the post earlier that it is a shame that we are talking about this rather than the football, but when people boo players who are making their own stand against racism and whilst players still get racial abuse thrown at them, it needs to be fronted up. It would also help if people who swear blind they are not racist would stop attacking those speaking out against racism. It is not acceptable and defending the actions of those who do or trying to minimise the size of the problem by throwing the word minority around is not acceptable. The word minority does not mean it is less of a problem and does not make those on the end of the abuse feel any better about it.
  18. The problem is that we have racist idiots. The word minority doesn’t really matter but by constantly using it it makes the problem sound less of an issue.
  19. I think Kane’s point is that they are not part of our footballing family. If you are a racist, you are not an England fan.
  20. Why ask that question? Don’t you believe that they have been racially abused?
  21. I quite agree that Southgate didn’t react quickly enough, but we are perfectly good at football, just not particularly adept at dealing with pressurised penalty competitions.
  22. There’s the rub. I do believe that we have the ability to pick off other teams. We just don’t set our stall to do that. We should let teams worry about what we are going to do to them rather than spend our tactical energy on trying to keep them out. It’s all very well defending in depth, but if we are looking to hit teams on the break we have to get numbers forward. I don’t know what the stats are but how many chances did we create in the tournament? My guess is that we had one of the lowest rates.
  23. Ever the pragmatist, Southgate sets his teams up not to lose and he does that very well, but one shot on target (in the 2nd minute) in 120 minutes speak volumes about his tactics. Kane is a world class striker and Sterling was having a great tournament up to last night. We have a wealth of attacking talent sitting on the bench yet we don’t set up to use it. I bet every one of us was scanning the touch line on 60 minutes looking to see how he was going to change things. No Grealish until half way through the first period of extra time? Can he only play 20 minutes? If you want to win things there are times when you have to be bold. I wonder if Southgate has that in his locker? Pickford had an excellent tournament. Luke Shaw has become the player we always knew he could be. Maguire was excellent after his injury lay off. Walker has unbelievable pace. Rice had his best game last night, especially when he started to burst forward. Phillips put in another great shift, covers every blade of grass and is always there for a pass. Mount should have come off earlier. Why Grealish doesn’t start God only knows. Stones was solid. Henderson wasn’t the answer to anyone’s question other can you head a ball from a corner. At this stage I would love to talk about the likes of Foden, Bellingham, Rashford, Grealish and Sancho but we have barely seen them. Note to Gareth. Don’t take 4 right backs to the WC. Build strategies to win matches rather than not to lose them. Mason Mount should not be the first name on the team sheet. As for the people who racially abused Rashford, Sancho and Saka on social media, f**k right off you moronic bastards.
  24. So speaks the man banned from another football forum for being a WUM and troll. Self awareness is not your strong suit is it?
  25. Peters too who used to “ghost” into the box late and pick up goals from midfield. Love the way that players used to walk around when they didn’t have the ball. No intensity at all. It wasn’t long before that there were no subs either. Constant passing the ball back to the keeper to waste time. Jumpers as goalposts. Happy days!
