Come on Duckie, surely even you can admit that we have played excellent football at times under Ralph.

Whilst she has overall responsibility, you have to wonder what was going on with his line management and colleagues. I can nderstand why workmates cover each other’s backs but the situation is different in the police. There will always be rogue officers but there has to be a better system of rooting them out and dealing with the bad apples. She can’t be blamed for the behaviour of this man but she can be blamed for letting a culture where it isn’t identified and dealt with happen. She isn’t going to win confidence but talking down the Met and it’s problems, but she needs to be seen to be doing something about it. Unfortunately there have been a number of serious issues on her watch. Although her colleagues seem to have faith in her, the public seem to think otherwise. It doesn’t help that Patel backs her up either. Does anyone have any faith in her judgement apart from Boris Johnson?

Whilst it makes perfect sense for the party to split it would also split the vote and play into the Tory’s hands even more. They need to find a way to live together under the same banner but sadly they seem to prefer to fight amongst themselves more than they do to fight the Tories. They talk about being a broad church, the problem is that the different factions are about as compatible as Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland. -

The is hardly any left wing press in this country as you know. The massed ranks of the right wing media also delight in blowing up minor items such as the cervix issue whilst ignoring the main points of Starmer’s agenda. It has happened to every Labour leader in my living memory although Murdoch actually gave Blair his backing. -

Keith who and where did Rayner call the electorate “scum”? You really need to engage your brain more before posting this nonsense. -
We are a piece of piss to play against yet City, United and West Ham couldn’t beat us and they are three quality teams. Wolves barely had a sniff and won with a route one goal. There are a number of much worse teams than us, Wolves being one. The defence looks much better this season but at the expense of our attack, but even then we have created plenty of openings which haven’t been taken. If Ings was still here I expect we would be higher up the table.

Laughing stock? Do you honestly think that anyone else is interested in our u23 results?

I’m with you. I find TWar’s posts about tactics and formations interesting and informative but then they get drowned out by posters who have issues with hipsters (what have they got to do with the people in the football fraternity?) or let their own egos get in the way of a decent thread. Here’s a thought, if you don’t agree with TWars posts, explain why and make you case in a way that helps the discussion progress in an adult way rather than throw juvenile insults around about social stereotypes or let your ego get in the way of a proper discussion.

Just got back from doing the weekend shop. Couldn’t get near Tescos so parked in a side road. Hardly anyone in the car park or store, everyone is buying fuel. What a moronic bunch we are. Tell the Great British public one thing and they will do another. Every media bulletin I have heard says no need to panic buy and yet off everyone goes. Still, on the bright side there were plenty of loo rolls on the shelves.

It is indeed. That is why it is a multi billion pound industry. The genius of advertising is to find a simple idea that will subliminally speak to those not strongly committed either way and tip them in your direction. The bus slogan and “Take Back Control” we’re never going to turn Remainers around or make firm leavers more so, but they tweaked those in the less committed camps to go and vote their way. You don’t need to convince the whole electorate of the validity of your argument, just the floaters or those who can’t usually be bothered. I can remember a number of snappy slogans used by the Brexiteers, none from the Remainers and I was a Remainer. -
Ray Houghton was another one who used the point that he had “played the game” to intimate that his point was more important. Gotta love those egos! There are plenty of people who have “played the game” who are clueless and plenty of people who haven’t (to that level) who have valid points to make. To coin a well know phrase, opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. Not sure why some people feel they have a right to one when others don’t, but as we all know, a certain poster on here is the only one who’s opinion matters 😏

The good news is that it probably won’t last much longer. The bad news is that Murdoch is going to launch his own news channel (as if the world needs more Murdoch ownership of media companies).

Not sure how he thinks that pointing at a badge that no one can see from the stands will make a greater difference than kneeling down.

Shearer and Dublin were saying the opposite last night and said he would have scored more on today’s billiard table pitches. He had great acceleration and went by people like they were there. VAR wouldn’t have been a problem as he wasn’t one who played off the shoulder of the last man.

I think he expected to play in the World Cup but after an injury Alf Ramsey stuck with Geoff Hurst, which didn’t turn out too bad for us to be fair. At the time he was considered one of the best goalscorers in the world and it must have hit him hard. Possibly why he became an alcoholic? I was lucky enough to see him play twice. He scored in the 2-2 game I saw against Chelsea (as did Osgood) and I saw him play against us for West Ham when he won the penalty that earned them a draw (and Tommy Jenkins scored a worldie for us). He went on to become an excellent pundit with Ian St John and received even more fame as a puppet in Spitting Image. A true legend from football’s golden era. RIP

A club like us can often only attract quality young players if they see it as a shop window opportunity and the chance of a step up. Yes he looks like an excellent prospect and it would be great to have him as a permanent signing, but surely better to have that quality for a season than not at all?

Watch a rerun of it and come to your own conclusion. As for the oft repeated argument that people taking the knee or making a stand against racist behaviour are only making things worse, seriously? That shit stirrer Martin Luther King has got a lot to answer for then. Nearly as ridiculous as hypo trying to pretend he is a liberal.

Interesting piece on Newsnight tonight about systematic racism in this country. The number of young people out of work is vastly higher than white people. False CVs were sent out with identical qualifications and experience and those with white sounding names were more likely to get a call back than the black sounding names. Still, we are a tolerant country and it is all being blown out of all proportion.

A rethink because it upsets racists??? As has been said countless times, God forbid we should do anything that upsets the racists! The aim of the knee gesture is clearly working because we are still talking about it and it is encouraging racists out of the woodwork (not that many of them need any more encouragement). The problem we have has nothing to do with taking the knee. If they changed the gesture to standing on your head or raising both arms in the air, the usual suspects would find a reason to diss it. The problem is the people who oppose those who oppose racism. Why would anybody who opposes racism a) spend so much time and energy attacking those who oppose racism and b) spend so much time and energy trying to disprove that racisms exists to the level that it is a problem for our society when there is so much evidence from those being abused and elsewhere. It was no surprise to read that the Anti Woke Brothers are buddies in real life. They follow each other around these threads like a well honed tag team. Just like the Hungarian Ultras, they have been exposed for the ignorant individuals they are and it is good to finally see them properly challenged on here at last. The more people like this that become exposed by gestures like taking the knee the better and it shows that it is worthwhile. We might not be able to change the attitudes of the usual suspects on here, but at least their ignorance is being challenged.

They are a strange bunch Whelk but they clearly have an agenda a gang up on anybody that speaks out against it. It’s being going on for years with one particular poster who gets his panties in a bunch if ever I post anything calling out a right winger or posting in supporting of normal people who are getting it in the neck because of their skin colour or religion. He has been joined by a bunch of like minded people with the same issues. Apparently my views (which I think are shared by many on here) don’t count because I don’t have a bunch of besties who are black or follow Islam? By that logic my views about right wing extremists or megalomaniac dictators count for nothing either because I am not friends with any of them.It is truly bizarre that people who claim that they are not racist or Islamophobic call out people who post in support of people on the end of abuse. The fact that they form little cliques and gang up on posters speaks volumes about them but they have outed themselves over the years so that isn’t a bad thing and it is good to see more people calling them out for what they are. I’d rather be a sanctimonious poster than an online right wing bully with zero self awareness.

Perhaps the issue should be why the Premier League thought that he was a “fit and proper owner” of an EPL club? Anyway he is here and actively trying to sell the club. We can only hope that he finds a buyer who is better. As for the money being spirited away? Do you have any evidence of that? It seems that every last penny of income is being used to keep the club going. We are trying to compete in a league where the big clubs just keep getting bigger and the small clubs are running to stand still. You can blame Gao all you like but unless we find someone to throw the same kind of money around as City and Chelsea we are going to have to keep doing what we are doing and rely of unearthing gems for a few million quid a time.

Jack Stephens' passion & has he improved?
sadoldgit replied to niceandfriendly's topic in The Saints
He is very weak in the air, lacks positional awareness of both himself and the opposition and when he makes mistakes those often lead to goals. He shouldn’t be starting regularly in an EPL because he has weaknesses in areas that a CB should be strong but he is fine as a back up, which is what he will be again soon. He is capable of putting in a good performance but he is equally capable of being a liability. The way he casually passes to the opposition when bringing the ball out of defence in pretty much every game is something a player of his experience should have eradicated from his game by now. -
Or instead of time wasting we could try and score more goals?
-
Do you honestly think that Gao is involved in choosing which players we buy? As for speaking English, there are plenty of players born here that I can’t understand what they are saying half the time. It has been made abundantly clear that the Board are running this club, not Gao.

Not sure how you can say that after 1 or 2 games but certainly Newcastle and Burnley are just as capable of getting relegated as we are.
