A straw woman? What an odd man you are. There are people, as you know, who have a problem with this. People who make stupid comments about cervix’s. There is more to it than body parts you are born with. That is the point I am making. I’m sorry that you have to feel the need to make something else out of it. One day perhaps you will drag yourself and your antiquated views out of the 70’s.

A few years ago I befriended someone when spending some time in treatment in The Priory. She was very closed down, near suicidal and it took a while for her to come out of her shell. I never really understood what her issues were but she was a lesbian and I assumed that she was having problems coming to terms with that. We lost contact for a while when we left The Priory but a few years later this person got back in touch. She is now a he. He is married and they have a child. He is like a new person and is really happy with his new life and family. The transformation is incredible. It is easy to take the piss and make fun of people who believe that they were born in the wrong gender. Maybe we need to be more accepting about the fact that it is is not all about biology, but about what makes us us.

I wonder how many people have died through contracting Covid from people they know?

Every silver lining has a cloud eh Delldays?

I am sorry about your sad news. We have a relative and neighbours also fighting cancer at the moment and it seems that the battle has been made harder by the pandemic. It is good to read that you have had some positive news and I hope that this leads to better things for you both. Wishing your wife and yourself much strength in your fight against this awful disease.

Brilliant! Some people take ignorance to a whole new level, still, at least they give us plenty of material to laugh at. Good to know that an opinion on various subjects is only valid dependent on your postcode and how many black, Asian, Muslim, Jewish, gay, trans etc people you hang out with. 😂 I remember telling my kids that they should read 1984 and Animal Farm as Orwell had captured the nature of the abuse of power in the 20th c brilliantly but have now had to tell them to ignore my recommendation as, not actually knowing a published author who lived through the totalitarian regimes of the mid 20th century, my opinion of his work was not valid. I have had to consign my views on the slave trade to the bin as I am not best buddies with any slaves. And so it goes on… Over the years I have been frequently attacked and often abused by the usual suspects, many of whom will respond within seconds of me posting. Usually I am pulled up for stating the obvious, but for whatever reason, these things upset the gang. From memory the subjects have covered; normal peaceful Muslims not be responsible for the actions of terrorists, there still being a problem with racism in this country, not all migrants are terrorists, in many areas there is still no parity between men and women’s pay, that the likes of far right activists Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson are abhorrent human beings and should be called out for what they are, that women who are incapacitated through alcohol or drugs cannot legally consent to sex (not my opinion, this is law), oh and on one memorable occasion there was even a row about whether Hitler and many of the Nazi party were actually Christians! I am sure there are many more subjects that I have forgotten but they all have one thing in common, they all get those with far right sensibilities hot under the collar. They keep finding new ways to play down anything they don’t agree with. Recently it is labelling people “woke” in a pejorative sense. In this very thread my opinions, we are told, don’t count for anything because of where I live and who I befriend. Right out of the Katie Hopkins/Tommy Robinson hand book for attacking liberal scumbags like me. I am tempted to mention the new drama on BBC1, Ridley Road, just to see how they manage to pick that apart whilst still keeping their, non partisan credentials in tact. As we have seen in the debate about the taking of the knee and what that means, it doesn’t take much for these guys to put themselves. Why anyone should have a problem with someone else making a stand against racism is highly questionable. Trying to undermine the Labour Party conference with silly jibes about cervix’s when the only people making it a big issue were those trying to deflect the grief being aimed at the Tory government. The trouble is guys, your cover has been blown, as has Johnson’s. The more you come up with childish and pathetic responses to things that most reasonable and rational people see as problems within our society, the more you will show yourselves up. Still, you will always have each other for company.

Technically of course you are right but he had one parent who was Jewish and one who wasn’t so he grew up with two religions which is why he calls himself half Jewish. He is an atheist anyway so I don’t think we need worry about his description of himself too much.
-
You were nearly right. One of my best friends is half Jewish.

I know Norm, but what a sub! It’s very hard to come up with a team of the best when there is so much quality to chose from. I nearly left MLT on the bench for Paine but in the end couldn’t do it. I could easily fill at least 2 more teams with real quality. Then there are the players who tend to slip through the net but would add proper quality to any team you can come up with, Phil Boyer for example.

What a strange thing to say. Little wonder you are joined to the hip to Turkish. So none of our opinions are worthwhile unless we have direct experience of them? Probably explains your peculiar thought processes (still pretending to be liberal?). I’ll ignore your facile comment about my barber but here’s one for you - I am pretty sure that most of us have had no direct contact with anyone who spent time in a concentration camp in WW2. According to your strange logic our perspectives and opinions are not worth much. It doesn’t matter that we may have read many first hand accounts on the subject, may have seen many newsreels etc. Our thoughts and opinions are pretty much worthless because we weren’t best buddies with the inmates. I have never given birth (due to the lack of a cervix) but I am prepared to believe that it is a very painful experience due to listening to other people’s experiences. I don’t have to be best buds with a black person to understand that racial abuse happens and what it means to those it happens to. Anyone with empathy can take that on board. You and your buddy seem to struggle with the concept. Mind you, you both appear to struggle with most stuff that normal people can grasp. By the way, it wasn’t that long ago that you were trying to tell us that racial abuse in football wasn’t such a big deal anymore. Still think that is the case?

Exactly right. Narcissists call other people names and belittle them because it makes them feel and (they think) look superior. They only look superior to their enablers. As well as our resident forum narcissist, people like Trump and Johnson do the same thing on a public platform. They have to have some level of lack of self awareness to think that they actually come across as anything other than obnoxious self promoting egotists. Getting back on track, the Ugly is still operating normally.
-
I was referring to your comment about the Taliban and have no idea why that has anything to do with your basic beliefs in biology.
-
Congratulations. You have just become a bigger idiot than Turkish. No mean feat. You must be very proud.
-
Which attitude displays clearly why these people get into power and why we are in the mess we are in.

The man with the giant ego has already outed himself here and it didn’t take long. The guaranteed thing about narcissists is that they thrive on attention, good or bad. Any attention feeds their need to boost their self esteem and so as long as they are being talked about, it’s all good. In mental health circles it is called “supply”. People with NPD need a regular “supply” in order to keep feeding their need to build up their self worth. You can see it with the likes of Trump and Johnson. I was married to someone with NPD for several years and living with them on a daily basis is a nightmare! No surprise to find many of them lurking on anonymous Internet forums where they can wallow in their perceived sense of superiority to their heart’s content, until they get banned of course. Fortunately that happened on the other forum and instead of it being all about him, issues are at least being discussed on their merits rather than just to satisfy one person’s need to build up his ego. Like all football forums, the Ugly gets bogged down in circular arguments and the usual abusive stuff, but it happens on all sites. Nick gets a lot of flak but to me he writes fair and balanced posts and it is refreshing to find someone who is not looking to bash the club at every opportunity. As with all sites you have to take the wheat with the chaff and it isn’t for everybody, but it is worth a try and there is no daily limit to posts (which in my case is probably not a good idea!). I’m not aware that new people are being blocked from joining? Perhaps it is taking admin a while to assess new applicants to make sure the banned members don’t return? I really don’t know but nothing has been said about a closed membership.

Not easy as I have had to leave some quality players out, but here we go - Niemi Mills Wright Van Dijk Bale David Armstrong Ball Williams Le Tiss Ron Davies Channon sub Paine

Perhaps he has tried it in training but prefers him at right back? Given the changes in the team so far this season I wouldn’t say that he was being stubborn. He likes attacking full backs and both KWP and TL play high up the pitch.
-
It’s become a lot better since the resident narcissist was kicked off. Sadly he is infecting this place instead now. As for Nick, he is not a cheerleader for Gao, he merely points out the obvious, that as much as we need a new owner and proper investment, at least Gao is letting the Board run the club on a self sustaining basis (as Leibherr did) and whilst not a positive influence, at least he isn’t a negative influence either . Not sure how that translates into his biggest cheerleader? Only someone with a bitter agenda would know.

I don’t know what the problem is. This season we have looked exactly what we are, an average Premier league side. We have acquitted ourselves well against United, City and West Ham. We did well against Chelsea today until the sending off. Ralph worked wonders with an average squad in 2020. We haven’t been in a relegation battle with him and I don’t think we will be this season. We do need to start winning matches very soon though.

So sorry to hear that Winnersaint. It’s such an awful disease and I wish you and your wife some better news.
