Which attitude displays clearly why these people get into power and why we are in the mess we are in.

The man with the giant ego has already outed himself here and it didn’t take long. The guaranteed thing about narcissists is that they thrive on attention, good or bad. Any attention feeds their need to boost their self esteem and so as long as they are being talked about, it’s all good. In mental health circles it is called “supply”. People with NPD need a regular “supply” in order to keep feeding their need to build up their self worth. You can see it with the likes of Trump and Johnson. I was married to someone with NPD for several years and living with them on a daily basis is a nightmare! No surprise to find many of them lurking on anonymous Internet forums where they can wallow in their perceived sense of superiority to their heart’s content, until they get banned of course. Fortunately that happened on the other forum and instead of it being all about him, issues are at least being discussed on their merits rather than just to satisfy one person’s need to build up his ego. Like all football forums, the Ugly gets bogged down in circular arguments and the usual abusive stuff, but it happens on all sites. Nick gets a lot of flak but to me he writes fair and balanced posts and it is refreshing to find someone who is not looking to bash the club at every opportunity. As with all sites you have to take the wheat with the chaff and it isn’t for everybody, but it is worth a try and there is no daily limit to posts (which in my case is probably not a good idea!). I’m not aware that new people are being blocked from joining? Perhaps it is taking admin a while to assess new applicants to make sure the banned members don’t return? I really don’t know but nothing has been said about a closed membership.

Not easy as I have had to leave some quality players out, but here we go - Niemi Mills Wright Van Dijk Bale David Armstrong Ball Williams Le Tiss Ron Davies Channon sub Paine

Perhaps he has tried it in training but prefers him at right back? Given the changes in the team so far this season I wouldn’t say that he was being stubborn. He likes attacking full backs and both KWP and TL play high up the pitch.

It’s become a lot better since the resident narcissist was kicked off. Sadly he is infecting this place instead now. As for Nick, he is not a cheerleader for Gao, he merely points out the obvious, that as much as we need a new owner and proper investment, at least Gao is letting the Board run the club on a self sustaining basis (as Leibherr did) and whilst not a positive influence, at least he isn’t a negative influence either . Not sure how that translates into his biggest cheerleader? Only someone with a bitter agenda would know.

I don’t know what the problem is. This season we have looked exactly what we are, an average Premier league side. We have acquitted ourselves well against United, City and West Ham. We did well against Chelsea today until the sending off. Ralph worked wonders with an average squad in 2020. We haven’t been in a relegation battle with him and I don’t think we will be this season. We do need to start winning matches very soon though.

So sorry to hear that Winnersaint. It’s such an awful disease and I wish you and your wife some better news.

Come on Duckie, surely even you can admit that we have played excellent football at times under Ralph.

Whilst she has overall responsibility, you have to wonder what was going on with his line management and colleagues. I can nderstand why workmates cover each other’s backs but the situation is different in the police. There will always be rogue officers but there has to be a better system of rooting them out and dealing with the bad apples. She can’t be blamed for the behaviour of this man but she can be blamed for letting a culture where it isn’t identified and dealt with happen. She isn’t going to win confidence but talking down the Met and it’s problems, but she needs to be seen to be doing something about it. Unfortunately there have been a number of serious issues on her watch. Although her colleagues seem to have faith in her, the public seem to think otherwise. It doesn’t help that Patel backs her up either. Does anyone have any faith in her judgement apart from Boris Johnson?

Whilst it makes perfect sense for the party to split it would also split the vote and play into the Tory’s hands even more. They need to find a way to live together under the same banner but sadly they seem to prefer to fight amongst themselves more than they do to fight the Tories. They talk about being a broad church, the problem is that the different factions are about as compatible as Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland. -

The is hardly any left wing press in this country as you know. The massed ranks of the right wing media also delight in blowing up minor items such as the cervix issue whilst ignoring the main points of Starmer’s agenda. It has happened to every Labour leader in my living memory although Murdoch actually gave Blair his backing. -

Keith who and where did Rayner call the electorate “scum”? You really need to engage your brain more before posting this nonsense. -
We are a piece of piss to play against yet City, United and West Ham couldn’t beat us and they are three quality teams. Wolves barely had a sniff and won with a route one goal. There are a number of much worse teams than us, Wolves being one. The defence looks much better this season but at the expense of our attack, but even then we have created plenty of openings which haven’t been taken. If Ings was still here I expect we would be higher up the table.

Laughing stock? Do you honestly think that anyone else is interested in our u23 results?

I’m with you. I find TWar’s posts about tactics and formations interesting and informative but then they get drowned out by posters who have issues with hipsters (what have they got to do with the people in the football fraternity?) or let their own egos get in the way of a decent thread. Here’s a thought, if you don’t agree with TWars posts, explain why and make you case in a way that helps the discussion progress in an adult way rather than throw juvenile insults around about social stereotypes or let your ego get in the way of a proper discussion.

Just got back from doing the weekend shop. Couldn’t get near Tescos so parked in a side road. Hardly anyone in the car park or store, everyone is buying fuel. What a moronic bunch we are. Tell the Great British public one thing and they will do another. Every media bulletin I have heard says no need to panic buy and yet off everyone goes. Still, on the bright side there were plenty of loo rolls on the shelves.

It is indeed. That is why it is a multi billion pound industry. The genius of advertising is to find a simple idea that will subliminally speak to those not strongly committed either way and tip them in your direction. The bus slogan and “Take Back Control” we’re never going to turn Remainers around or make firm leavers more so, but they tweaked those in the less committed camps to go and vote their way. You don’t need to convince the whole electorate of the validity of your argument, just the floaters or those who can’t usually be bothered. I can remember a number of snappy slogans used by the Brexiteers, none from the Remainers and I was a Remainer. -
Ray Houghton was another one who used the point that he had “played the game” to intimate that his point was more important. Gotta love those egos! There are plenty of people who have “played the game” who are clueless and plenty of people who haven’t (to that level) who have valid points to make. To coin a well know phrase, opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. Not sure why some people feel they have a right to one when others don’t, but as we all know, a certain poster on here is the only one who’s opinion matters 😏

The good news is that it probably won’t last much longer. The bad news is that Murdoch is going to launch his own news channel (as if the world needs more Murdoch ownership of media companies).

Not sure how he thinks that pointing at a badge that no one can see from the stands will make a greater difference than kneeling down.

Shearer and Dublin were saying the opposite last night and said he would have scored more on today’s billiard table pitches. He had great acceleration and went by people like they were there. VAR wouldn’t have been a problem as he wasn’t one who played off the shoulder of the last man.

I think he expected to play in the World Cup but after an injury Alf Ramsey stuck with Geoff Hurst, which didn’t turn out too bad for us to be fair. At the time he was considered one of the best goalscorers in the world and it must have hit him hard. Possibly why he became an alcoholic? I was lucky enough to see him play twice. He scored in the 2-2 game I saw against Chelsea (as did Osgood) and I saw him play against us for West Ham when he won the penalty that earned them a draw (and Tommy Jenkins scored a worldie for us). He went on to become an excellent pundit with Ian St John and received even more fame as a puppet in Spitting Image. A true legend from football’s golden era. RIP

A club like us can often only attract quality young players if they see it as a shop window opportunity and the chance of a step up. Yes he looks like an excellent prospect and it would be great to have him as a permanent signing, but surely better to have that quality for a season than not at all?

Watch a rerun of it and come to your own conclusion. As for the oft repeated argument that people taking the knee or making a stand against racist behaviour are only making things worse, seriously? That shit stirrer Martin Luther King has got a lot to answer for then. Nearly as ridiculous as hypo trying to pretend he is a liberal.

Interesting piece on Newsnight tonight about systematic racism in this country. The number of young people out of work is vastly higher than white people. False CVs were sent out with identical qualifications and experience and those with white sounding names were more likely to get a call back than the black sounding names. Still, we are a tolerant country and it is all being blown out of all proportion.
