  1. Surely a contract could be signed that comes into force on 1st July?
  2. If our attack and defence were better we would have won more games too.
  3. But they arent in Europe and could just as easily find themselves battling relegation in the next few years. As for money talking, would he go to Brentford for more money? If he was looking for a big move, with all due respect to Aston Villa, that is hardly it.
  4. If you were a player at a mid table club looking to progress your career, why would you go to another mid table club? As has been said, without Grealish they are nothing special. I can believe that they want to sign him but I can’t believe that he would want to go there.
  5. Oh no! If only we had picked a “middling” versatile midfield player who was useful at dead ball kicks! Still, at least we have an unfit Henderson along who will be especially useful for the penalties.
  6. Even when unfit? Southgate himself has said that he will only pick players who are fit and playing regularly. Henderson is neither of those things.
  7. He didn’t say that at all. He said that had he been on the bench he would have been an asset for the last 30 minutes. Not exactly the same thing is it?
  8. You’ve not seen him play this year then? He gives you exactly what Rice or Phillips can do plus his dead ball delivery. Would we have performed any worse with him on the pitch last night?
  9. Exactly right. MLT gives you something different. Why should it be Scholes or MLT? There are others players that could have been left behind for Matt. As for JWP sitting on the bench for the competition, plenty of other players will be sitting on the bench for the whole competition but if JWP was there at least he would be an option. We were crying out for a player with his skill set last night.
  10. His defensive play has improved, probably at the expense of his attacking play though.
  11. No it’s a German thing. It started with the Siegfried Line.
  12. Perhaps she believed that he would at the time? It isn’t as if she washed her hands of us and disappeared so has been around to attract flak for her decision.
  13. Why would he go to Villa?
  14. There are plenty of clubs at risk of being relegated and I wouldn’t say it was a certainty for us. We have an excellent infrastructure, more tv money coming in and the basis of a good team. The problem is that there aren’t many people out there looking to buy football clubs.

Ah bless you. Still getting shirty if anyone speaks out against the amount of disparity there is in this country in media political coverage. You and hypo are guaranteed to post as soon as anyone says anything that speaks out against your beloved right. I’m surprised Andrew Neil hasn’t found jobs for you two as social media fluffers. Perhaps he has?

Clearly a certain section won’t watch it, but it will only stoke the flames for those interested in far right propaganda, which is not a good thing as we have more than enough of it here as it is. You believe in democracy I take it? How can a democracy thrive when there is such a great imbalance in our media? I know that you would like to think that our media in controlled by “pinkos” but it really isn’t. The press is mostly right wing. A lot of radio is right wing. You’d be hard pressed to find much in the way of centrist or left wing persuasion. In an ideal world news programmes would be totally impartial and any comment or opinion pieces balanced with contributions of different views but we don’t live in an ideal world and money and power trump (pun intended) balanced debate. If there was any semblance of balance and equality the likes of Murdoch would not be allowed to control multi media outlets across the world. By the way, the BBC is a public service. We all pay for public services that we don’t necessarily use or want. For example I don’t want Trident missiles but still have to contribute towards them.

I’m really disappointed that they haven’t signed up Laurence Fox for their launch team. Missed a trick there!

Just what this country needs, another right wing media outlet.
  19. Go and look at his previous record. He also managed to get a bang average team to the top of the EPL albeit briefly. You don’t achieve what he has achieved in the game by being a poor coach.
  20. Back in the 70’s I was playing and our coach went to catch a ball, slipped over and didn’t get up. He died on the way to hospital. 39 years old, ex Guardsman and still played the occasional game. A family friend who I had known all my life. Turns out he had a weakness in an artery in his brain which could have caused a haemorrhage at any time of his life. You just don’t know... Anyway, Trippier at left back and Grealish on the bench? Oh dear.
  21. Fortunately he didn’t die and hopefully he will be ok but why cancel the whole tournament? People die everyday. As said I expect Denmark would have withdrawn out of respect and players would have worn black armbands. No doubt it would have cast a deep shadow over the rest of the competition but it would have been played out in his honour, I expect. Thank goodness it is just conjecture and it is good to hear that he has been stabilised. I was listening on TalkSport and that fool Adrian Durham was giving the BBC a hard time over their coverage, yet they continued to cover it themselves continuously despite having run out of things to say. It became embarrassing in the end as there is only so much you can say about a situation in which you have little first hand information. Just as they were saying that the tv coverage should have been curtailed, they probably should have done the same and put on some music or cut to another topic with the occasional update. The guys in the studio were clearly struggling for things to say and were obviously upset. Thankfully things don’t happen like this very often in professional sport but do happen to “normal” people. I knew someone, fit as a fiddle, dropped dead on a running machine in a gym. There is more monitoring in amateur sports but not enough and there are hundreds of people out and about who have potential life threatening underlying health conditions. Again, as said earlier, it is incredible that CE’s condition hasn’t been picked up through monitoring before and it will be interesting to see what the diagnoses is. Leats hope that he makes a full recovery and that this unfortunate episode brings on a greater awareness of the need for greater health screening amongst all people engaging in sporting activities.
  22. It is a dirge with lyrics that mean very little to most people here in the 21st century. When the Queen croaks they should replace it. I Vow To Thee My Country would do the trick. Cracking tune by Holst and it doesn’t deal with being reigned over by an unelected person who is glorified for being victorious and all the other baggage that comes with an outdated monarchy. What is God saving her from? She is going to die like everyone else and she has dealt with more family shit than many so no matter how many of us sing it, it hasn’t made a shred of difference to her circumstances. On his deathbed I would be surprised if Philip uttered the final words “at least I won’t have to listen to that dreadful dirge anymore”. Anyway, more importantly Italy put on a cracking display last night although against a poor Turkey side. It begins at last.
  23. Where has it been said that he intends to rotate them next season?
  24. I thought that the problem with Lemina was his attitude rather than his ability?
  25. High balls into full back areas are not the problem. High balls into the box are. When defending corners you can bring taller players back to defend them. Once upon a time the full backs used to stand by the posts and not mark anybody.
