I heard recently that incidents of flu have virtually fallen off the radar, probably due to the precautions that people are taking against Covid.

Blimey, some people are hard to please. I’d be more than happy with a scrappy 8th place and a decent cup final. As for Ralph not being the messiah? I don’t think anyone has given him god like status have they? Those that rate him though can see his commitment and passion for what he does, something that has been sadly lacking for a while. It doesn’t matter what score you lose by, you still lose 3 points but it seems to be a hanging offence to some if you lose by more than 6. Ralph is a gambler. Gamblers don’t always win but they do give you are more interesting journey. He seems to be the polar opposite to Puel and also spilts loyalties, although Ralph seems to have more support from the fans than Claud, no doubt because the football is often more entertaining. You can just imagine this place in the early days of McMenemy’s reign. For me Ralph has earned the right to see out his contract having done wonders with limited resources. It is still a work in progress but performances last year show that progress is being made. Changing managers every five minutes hasn’t worked, so now we have someone worth investing in it is about time we let him get on with the job without calling for his head anytime there is a downturn. Of course questions should be asked when things don’t go well and of course he is not immune to criticism, but we need to understand that the grass isn’t always greener and sometimes you have to endure a bumpy ride in the hope that it will lead to a more smoother ride ahead.

It was a very scary experience. Just before the wall collapsed there was one of several surges by the crowd and a kid next to me lost his balance. He grabbed hold of my coat to stop from falling over and rippled the lapel right off! As I walked off the pitch on the other side of a ground I heard someone calling my name. There in the crowd was a guy I worked with who turned out to be an Orient supporter and though it hilarious to see a work chum walking off the pitch with the players! It was certainly an interesting evening!

I was pressed up against the wall and popped out like a piece of soap landing right in front of a WPC. She tried to get me back into the crowd but I said there is no way I’m going back in there just as the wall collapsed. It is a miracle that no one was seriously hurt. The whistle then blew and I walked off the pitch with the players and left from the opposite side of the ground.

The sleeves were amazing. I have never seen anyway role them up so tightly and so far up the biceps. The opposition centre forward knew this guy meant business before a ball was kicked.

I can’t see us selling Vestergaard this summer. He is currently one of the main stays of the team so why ship him out early?

We weren't having these conversations when we were sitting at the top of the table with the same players and manager. We have been through the worse period of injuries I have known at the club and have been on the receiving end of a number of appalling decisions which, on occasions, have probably cost us points. We have an average team who need everything to fall into place on a regular basis to get results but have proved to be a match for anyone when we get it right. We are within sniffing distance of a trip to Wembley and there is no reason why we can’t finish in mid table. JWP is a perfectly good captain. We need to hold our nerve, keep working hard and things will improve again.

Playing at the intensity we need to for 95 minutes has taken its toll. We can’t do it twice a week with the squad we have. Still, I’d take the cup win over 3 points today all day long.

Indeed. It’s not like we have anything to play for in the league whereas we have an opportunity to get to a cup final. Fortunately Ralph seems to be taking the cup seriously so hopefully will be putting a strong side out.
