You do write some nonsense Weston. When have I ever claimed to be an expert on racism? You don’t have to be an expert to understand that there is a problem with it in this country which needs to be fronted up and dealt with, which is happening. As for this place, do you honestly believe that if there were many black posters on here these threads would develop the way they do? Whenever people post against racism (or Islamophobia for that matter) a small number of you jump all over it like a nasty rash. You might like to ask yourself why you people have such a problem with these issues.
-
Reading back over the last few pages and it begs the question is this a prime example of tone deafness? A bunch of white blokes deciding what constitutes racial abuse and then trying to tell the abused how they should or should not react to it. 😂
-
The usual tactic of deflection eh? Let’s deal with a typo and make that the issue. A common tactic used by the far right. But thanks for the heads up and it has now been corrected. Good to see that you can get worked up about something Duckie, perhaps you can work your way up from typos to racial abuse in time 😉
-
Why would I have a meltdown? This bloke is the Turkish/hypo of Spiked and carries the same level of blind, wilful ignorance. No wonder he is right up your street. Apparently he believes that football fans who hurl racists abuse at players are not racist, just passionate about football. Ok. If you read his comments about the victims of Jimmy Saville you would realise that using his views to back up an argument is not the best plan if you want to be taken seriously. Regarding the taking of the knee campaign, it seems to be working amazingly well as far as bringing the people that need educating the most from out of the woodwork and into plain sight. Oh and by the way, it is possible to have someone on ignore but read their posts occasionally if you chose to.
-
We are obviously not reading the same posts then. The ones I am reading seem to be playing down the problem. As for taking the knee not working, it is meant to raise awareness which is exactly what it has been doing. You see, being on a high horse let’s you see things better 😉 The issue that I am struggling with and I don’t think it has been address yet is why are people who claim to be against racism either attacking those who are posting against racism and/or trying to minimise the problem in this country?
-
No it doesn’t. I have never heard a report saying that the abuse is being carried out by “vast swathes of the country” and feel free to publish any that do. It is just a ploy by those who are apologising for the poor behaviour carried out by enough of our population frequently enough to make it an issue. Seriously, why wouldnt the news report on the racists abuse especially when there has been a lot of focus on players taking the knee throughout the competition. Why are they doing it? Because there is constant racial abuse not just of players but of many many people who aren’t “one of us” on a daily basis. There is a saying “ignorance is bliss”. In this case ignorance is just ignorance.

You really don’t get it do you? Half a dozen idiots FFS. Listen to black people. It happens every single day to someone and you think it is half a dozen people affected by alcohol? Seriously? Isn’t it odd how you try and diminish racism in this country by trying to depict is as carried out by half a dozen people. When I tried to say that we should tar all Muslims as terrorists on other threads I got jumped on by you and those like you for saying that these people were in a small minority! So minorities are only insignificant when it suits your agenda? I see. You are really doing your best to minimise the problem aren’t you? Is there anything worse than a white guy telling the black people of this country they don’t have a problem with abuse because it is only half a dozen drunken idiots? The abuse dished out to our footballers is just the tip of the ice burg and fortunately most decent normal people understand that and support the attempts to deal with it. You on the other hand just want to underplay it and pretend it isn’t a problem. Well it is to black people. Not only are you a WUM, you are an embarrassment to the rest of us. Do yourself a favour and go back to your ITK wind up persona, at least that was mildly amusing. This is just ignorant and boorish. For the last time, of course this country isn’t “full of racists” and none of us have ever said that as well you know. But there are enough of them (and their apologists) to make it a problem that we can’t, and shouldn’t, ignore.
-
Because that is not a contradiction. Perhaps you marked the wrong bit or perhaps you don’t understand what contradiction means? As for wanting to eradicate every single racist, perhaps you would be kind enough to copy and paste and put in bold where I have said that. Why you and others have do put words into others mouths I just don’t understand. I will make it easy for you. I like most normal decent people, want to live in a world where people treat each other with basic respect. I expect anti social behaviour to be dealt with and not tolerated. I don’t expect for one minute that murder, sexual assault, theft, abuse etc will every be eradicated. That doesn’t mean that they should be just accepted and tolerated. Where they occur they should be dealt with. Do you seriously have a problem with any of that? If you are against racism, why would you be ok with the booing of a bunch of footballers who are making a stand against it? If you are against racism why would you spend all day having a pop at people who support 3 of our own players who have been racially abused when representing their country in a sporting event? I suggest that you and your like minded buddies on here have a good look at your motives when posting on social media because, from what I am reading, you are part of the problem.
-
Where is the contradiction?
-
Yet again you don’t read what was sad and reply to what is going on in your own head! Provide evidence that I “scream everyone is racist”. You are so desperate to call out people who are against racism you constantly make a fool of yourself. Yes, racists are in the minority, I have never, ever said otherwise. They are in the minority just as murderers and rapists are in the minority. It doesn’t mean that murders and rapes are not a serious problem does it? Every single day people across this country are racially abused. Are you ok with that because the abusers are in the minority? You spend a great deal of time and energy having a dig at those who are speaking out against racism. Why is that exactly? Despite Southgate, Rashford, Saka and Sancho all speaking out about the racial abuse that had been aimed at them, you demanded to see evidence. Their word not good enough for you? Why is that exactly? What is encouraging us that more posters here are calling out people like you for what you are. The positive reaction to the defacing of Marcus Rashford’s mural has also been brilliant. Our PM, who is no stranger to making racist comments himself, has finally been pressured into doing more about it. Finally. I agree with the post earlier that it is a shame that we are talking about this rather than the football, but when people boo players who are making their own stand against racism and whilst players still get racial abuse thrown at them, it needs to be fronted up. It would also help if people who swear blind they are not racist would stop attacking those speaking out against racism. It is not acceptable and defending the actions of those who do or trying to minimise the size of the problem by throwing the word minority around is not acceptable. The word minority does not mean it is less of a problem and does not make those on the end of the abuse feel any better about it.
-
The problem is that we have racist idiots. The word minority doesn’t really matter but by constantly using it it makes the problem sound less of an issue.
-
I think Kane’s point is that they are not part of our footballing family. If you are a racist, you are not an England fan.
-
Why ask that question? Don’t you believe that they have been racially abused?
-
I quite agree that Southgate didn’t react quickly enough, but we are perfectly good at football, just not particularly adept at dealing with pressurised penalty competitions.
-
There’s the rub. I do believe that we have the ability to pick off other teams. We just don’t set our stall to do that. We should let teams worry about what we are going to do to them rather than spend our tactical energy on trying to keep them out. It’s all very well defending in depth, but if we are looking to hit teams on the break we have to get numbers forward. I don’t know what the stats are but how many chances did we create in the tournament? My guess is that we had one of the lowest rates.
-
Ever the pragmatist, Southgate sets his teams up not to lose and he does that very well, but one shot on target (in the 2nd minute) in 120 minutes speak volumes about his tactics. Kane is a world class striker and Sterling was having a great tournament up to last night. We have a wealth of attacking talent sitting on the bench yet we don’t set up to use it. I bet every one of us was scanning the touch line on 60 minutes looking to see how he was going to change things. No Grealish until half way through the first period of extra time? Can he only play 20 minutes? If you want to win things there are times when you have to be bold. I wonder if Southgate has that in his locker? Pickford had an excellent tournament. Luke Shaw has become the player we always knew he could be. Maguire was excellent after his injury lay off. Walker has unbelievable pace. Rice had his best game last night, especially when he started to burst forward. Phillips put in another great shift, covers every blade of grass and is always there for a pass. Mount should have come off earlier. Why Grealish doesn’t start God only knows. Stones was solid. Henderson wasn’t the answer to anyone’s question other can you head a ball from a corner. At this stage I would love to talk about the likes of Foden, Bellingham, Rashford, Grealish and Sancho but we have barely seen them. Note to Gareth. Don’t take 4 right backs to the WC. Build strategies to win matches rather than not to lose them. Mason Mount should not be the first name on the team sheet. As for the people who racially abused Rashford, Sancho and Saka on social media, f**k right off you moronic bastards.

So speaks the man banned from another football forum for being a WUM and troll. Self awareness is not your strong suit is it?
-
Peters too who used to “ghost” into the box late and pick up goals from midfield. Love the way that players used to walk around when they didn’t have the ball. No intensity at all. It wasn’t long before that there were no subs either. Constant passing the ball back to the keeper to waste time. Jumpers as goalposts. Happy days!

Very sad news. I remember him hitting the bar from about 30 yards in a cup game against Spurs at WHL many many years ago. Was excited by his signing at the time as he was an established Div 1 player from a “big” club and he never let us down. RIP.
-
I think it is just something peculiar to some football fans, like booing people who are making a statement about racism. It takes a special breed and they only seem to follow one sport. You get them on Internet forums too making snide digs about those who rightly call out this pathetic behaviour for what it is.
-
I totally agree with you. I remember endless arguments about how he shouldn’t be involved in recruitment as that was the manager’s job and how he should not be involved because he knew nothing about football. Now every club has people like him doing those jobs. I also remember peers outside of the club at the time saying that he was ahead of his time. For all of his faults I think he was often misjudged and it can’t have been easy keeping the club going on the restricted level of 15,000 at home games. Lowe himself was a hockey man so that was another reason that he shouldn’t be involved in the club but I seem to remember him being responsible for signing Killer and Niemi, they turned out to be not too shabby for us. I remember someone who hated him with a passion admitting that he did his best for the club. That is all we can ask of anyone. Who will forget his famous statement about Spurs claiming that he wouldn’t be pushed around by a bunch of North London yobbos?! I don’t care for his politics and can see why he was disliked by so many, but I think in many ways he was much maligned.
-
They may well be “silly songs” but it is a simple matter of showing basic respect to your opponents. It is the same as players shaking hands before and after the game. Perhaps they should spit in each other’s faces? It is sport for goodness sake, not a war.
-
I don’t do Twitter Duckie. There are too many WUMs and right wing bigots on here for my liking as it is. Twitter takes it to a much higher level.
-
What on Earth are you talking about? If I vote for any other party than for the Tories where I live then that vote doesn’t get me anything and I am wasting my time leaving the sofa. Under PR my vote goes into the same pot as everybody else’s rather than a tiny pot that is virtually full of Tory votes at the start so it is well worth casting my vote, it’s value being that at the point of being cast, it could actually make a difference. I won’t know if it does or not until the votes are counted but under FPTP I know immediately that my vote will not get me anything. There is no contradiction. One vote has a value, one doesn’t.
-
No not at all as I have explained many times but you have probably had your stuck in that pointy hat too long. Under PR every single person gets their proportional amount of representation according to the votes cast therefore every vote means something unlike your favoured system which means that hundreds of thousands of votes don’t mean a thing, even before the count has been completed.
