We have a large ranges of ages in our village fortunately and have just set up a WhatsApp group to keep in touch with anyone who needs help. Great too see so many local youngsters offering to help us oldies. Hopefully my fellow oldies on here will get plenty of help from neighbours too.

Not much different Whelk. Unless I get it and then, as an old git, I shall be left to croak, so very quiet thereafter.

Whatever advice is given, I am not sure that The Great British Public will listen to it. Despite being told that there is no need to stockpile there were still no loo rolls, dried pasta, painkillers etc. around in local supermarkets today.

A neighbour of mine is in his 70’s but one of the most active people in the village. He is always walking his dog on in his garage making things. He is in the local most days too. It would drive him crazy being inside the house for weeks.

Are you? You seem to know an awful lot about mortality projections for a cook.
-
Johnson’s responses to the virus could end up costing thousands more lives, and still the usual suspects on here would be defending him.
-
Apparently Trump is offering. German pharma company “a great deal of money” for access to their work on a vaccine, but for the US only. Don’t you just love nationalism?
-
How many would that be exactly? How come the advice they are giving is at odds with many other professionals and the rest of Europe? How many of these people advising the Government get to make the final decisions of had Johnson given them to crack in and just keep him in the picture every now and again?

More so than a bunch of people whose only discernible talent is for getting themselves elected to Parliament?
-
In matters relating to serious epidemics - as opposed to people who spend their time supporting Tory policies on the Internet no matter that they may cost many lives.

Then we have read different polls. It would also appear that 229 professional experts disagree with our Governments current handling of the situation too.
-
Other countries have taken more serious actions earlier to try an deal with it. Why haven’t we?
-
It’s nice that you apparently have confidence in our leader. It would seem that the majority of the country don’t agree with you.
-
In a recent poll only 36% trust in what Johnson says and is doing about the situation. This is not about playing politics. This is about competency.
-
Johnson, like Trump, spits out glib throwaway lines when dealing with major issues in the hope that people will think they have things under control. They clearly don’t.
-
He managed to slip in “Let’s get Bewdley” done when visiting flooded areas.

As tough as it is for the likes of Liverpool, Leeds and WBA, I really don’t see how how anything can be based on an incomplete season. If you don’t cancel the season there is no fair way to sort out promotions or relegations. The League Cup should stand as the competition ran to completion.
-
Has Johnson said “Let’s get Covid-19 done” yet?
-
I can’t see most of the Premier League clubs being happy with 5 going down in one season. Perhaps two lots of four. Tough on clubs like Fulham. What happens with promotions in lower leagues?
-
London, Leicester and Birmingham and all victims apparently in the “at risk” group.
-
Probably. Swine Flu is still around isn’t it?
-
He obviously realised that is a likelihood. But hey, keep the digs coming.

Karen Brady in favour of voiding the season. What a surprise. To be fair to Klopp, he had also come out and said that health is more important than football.

The guy I work for who is 72 went to the Philippines for Christmas and can back with a dry cough and flu like symptoms. It went on for a few weeks before he got better. Makes you wonder! Just saw the front page of the Mail. No surprise there after what they are doing with us oldies in Italy. 66 years old with a heart condition. I guess I won’t make it through triage. Happy days. Meant to be seeing some old school friends in Oxford in a couple of weeks but that trip has just been cancelled. The village hall has a play on this coming Thursday but that looks like it will be cancelled. I have been putting off painting the bathroom. Seems like a good time to do it.

If certain teams are more affected than others, it throws the balance out. If the manager and coaching staff plus several main players are out from one club and the team they are playing are unelected, how does that work? Playing behind closed doors. How does that work when we are told that the support from the terraces means something?
