At a time when it wasn’t cool to be able to play an instrument proficiently, The Stranglers were a decent bunch of musicians. Dave Greenfield’s keyboards gave them a Doors type of sound. They also had that wonderful rumbling bass sound. Top band.

Another good series on at the moment is Breeders. The first episode is a bit full on and sweary, but it settles down into something recognisable for all those who have struggled with young kids. Again, a lot of dark humour.

Dave Greenfield the keyboard player from The Stranglers has died aged 71. In hospital with a heart condition but contracted covid. One of my favourite bands of that period. RIP

The righties don’t like anyone with a hint of a social conscience expressing an opinion on Internet forums (anywhere else for that matter). Hello Whelk, hope you are keeping well? It’s too late to do anything about the far right here I’m afraid. Another good show worth watching - Homeland. I nearly gave up on it a few seasons back but the final series has been excellent and the show ended on Sunday night with a perfect finale.

Just catching up with a binge watch of Californication. Lost it after series 3 so plenty to watch. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favour. Lots of dark humour, warped LA characters and very fit women (and Hank Moody for the women).

More info. Just heard from my brother than trials in Asia using existing anti viral vaccines are having a good effect on symptoms of advanced cases of Covid.

I guess they will just be deployed to the main areas.

Just had another message from a friend who knows a women on London who has it. She has a temperature of 41 degrees and has been very poorly. Much worse than normal flu apparently. She is getting better. Mid 20’s.

Just heard from 2 different sources that we are very close to complete lock down with army deployed to keep people off streets. Also post office to shut down mail deliveries and posties to be used for food deliveries.

You are right but it is not me who is being abusive. I agree with your point and a decision has been made for a reason, but as I said early the wishy washy advice is worrying. We are advised not to go to pubs and restaurants but can still happily go to bigger more populated establishments. We High Riskers are told to stay at home from next week. Why not now? If it isn’t safe to go to the pub, shouldn’t they do close the pubs? If the reason is to mitigate lots of insurance claims, then that is not good enough. There has been a lot of rhetoric about being on a war footing. Perhaps we should have a cross party Covid committee to get a good focus from all sides of Parliament on the situation?

Yes they are. It is entirely possible that fewer people will get sick from the point schools close. It has nothing to do with High Horses. A reporter asked Johnson during this afternoon's press conference about school closure. Was he on a high horse?
