  1. The revisionist are well at work. The focus on asylum costs works for people like Farage and his party and the right wing of the Tory Party but the simple fact is that it is down to austerity and the lack of spending on public services for many years. We all know that the NHS, the CJS, public transport etc etc etc were underfunded and all going to need rebuilding. Dealing with asylum seekers was just one area in a long line of mismanaged areas and they brought in the Rwandan gimmick to take our eyes off the ball (and it worked for some). If only they had spent the money they did on a scheme that was never going to work (if the threat of drowning doesn’t deter those prepared to cross the channel the small chance of being sent to Rwanda had no chance) on processing the backlog of asylum seekers rather than letting them fester maybe the figure in red would be lower? The Tories had 14 years to sort it out. The party who are tough on immigration. 14 years. But let’s drag Labour into it too shall we? I wonder why the people who focus on the money blown on asylum seeks never mention the £billions wasted elsewhere? https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/127/public-accounts-committee/news/171306/4-billion-of-unusable-ppe-bought-in-first-year-of-pandemic-will-be-burnt-to-generate-power/ https://www.bmj.com/content/376/bmj.o296 £10b against £5.4b. Which is the bigger issue here? £318m spent on the Rwanda scheme. Labour’s fault too? https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/commentaries/qa-the-uks-policy-to-send-asylum-seekers-to-rwanda/
  2. Not to worry. Farage will sort it out when he becomes PM. 😉 Now how you can manage the blame Labour when the mess was made by 14 years of Tory rule? Labour have already sent more failed seekers home in a few months than the last Tory government managed in years. The Tories managed to completely break the asylum system here. It is going to take more than 4 months to fix it.
  3. Wasn’t Cortese the reason we had finically problems back then? If the guy was such a genius at running football clubs why hasn’t he ended up running another one?

  5. We haven’t had a lot of luck so far this season, but we have also gifted goals and have been shocking. All in all, it’s been a poor show. You shouldn’t have to rely on luck.

I was referring to the media barons here and the wide variety of them rather than state support. It made sense for a state regime to support like minded organisations in different countries. What we have here is very wealthy individuals using their wealth and power to influence governments. How many Musks and Murdochs support the left here?
  7. No! They are doing God’s work.
  8. Not any different to calling women 9 pinters is it?

There is plenty of “previous” in very rich people from foreign lands using their money and power to influence our politics - Rupert Murdoch being an obvious example. What is interesting is that every one of them have far right leanings.
  10. The final part of Wolf Hall is just as brilliant as the first part. Mark Rylance is superb as an unravelling Cromwell. Well worth watching if you are into period dramas even if it does play a bit fast and loose with historical accuracy in places.
  11. If it works out the same way cheer up, we will go back up with a great day at Wembley!
  12. Having read your post again nic, you have made some deeply unpleasant claims against me. So as well as providing evidence of your claim that I called Trump a warmonger years ago, here is another task for you. As you are so certain, there must be plenty of evidence out there for you to use. Evidence please that I am a) Racist and b) Fascist And by evidence I don’t mean repeating posts from Turkish and his mates. You need to display my posts where I have displayed racism and fascism. Good luck. Instead of posting laughing emojis perhaps you would like to back up your claims.
  13. Should Joe Biden have pardoned his son? Absolutely not, but for Trump to kick off about it is the height of hypocracy. Irrespective of the right or wrongs of Biden’s decision, he has given Trump even more leeway with his own pardons and lets him off the hook for previous dodgy pardons. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gplr65prno.amp
  14. Along with the cordoned off area for the disabled.
  15. It can be the case that teams with a lot of injuries and suspensions manage to dig out a result. Probably because they go out to park the bus and get lucky on the break. Or am I just trying to find a shred of hope to cling on to?
  16. Hamas have made a rod for their own back by trying to play out from a tight defensive area. They have left themselves vulnerable to attack and are getting pounded as a result. It’s all down to the RM playbook.
  17. To be fair, he does have a point. If the cap fits… What is this obsession with male genitalia anyway? Most of us left that behind at school.
  18. Wow, you really are a strange one. Anyway, have you found any evidence that I called Trump a warmonger yet or can we just accept that you are concocting more rubbish just to support more of your conspiracy theories? instead of posting laughing emojis, back up your claim that I called Trump a warmonger or admit you are a bs merchant. Like all conspiracy theorists you are a fantasist nic. Do yourself a favour and come back and live in the real world.
  19. Indeed. The entertainment business is full of unpleasant people with over inflated egos and no self awareness. Gregg Wallace is just another in a long line of them. It’s a business and it is what’s on screen that counts, until something like this happens. The BBC seem to have been burnt by previous and much bigger issues concerning their presenters so are now overcompensating with the Wallace saga. There is no way that it should be the lead story on their main news shows. As for Wallace, he should have apologised, offered to seek help and kept his head down for a while. By doubling down and making further unhelpful comments he has just dug himself a bigger hole.
  20. Why don’t you just stop stalking him and do us all a favour? As I have tried to explain several times to the other serial stalker on here, perhaps try and understand how the ignore function works. You see a greyed out box with the ignored persons name on it when they post. If it appears under your last post there is a reasonably good chance that post refers to your last post. If you click that box it gives you three options - show this post - stop ignoring posts by xxxx - change your ignore preferences. So it is entirely possible to have someone on ignore but chose to read a post of theirs if you so wish on occasions. Posts from people on your ignore list still show up on your screen when someone else quotes them so the ignore function is not foolproof. As you are one of the serial stalkers on here I suggest that you put the people who trigger you (me being one of those) on your ignore list and find another hobby.
  21. Bless you nic. I would say that you have lost the plot, but you never really had the plot in the first place. The pantomime season has started early this year.

Aren’t there any rules about donations from abroad? You can imagine the outrage if Putin had funded the Labour Party’s campaign! Some info here… https://amp.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/30/eu-countries-parties-private-donors-spain-france https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_funding_in_the_United_Kingdom

The same Nigel Farage who kicked off when some Labour MPs went over to the States to support the Democrats? Well he is bound to turn the offer down as he would not like to be seen as a hypocrite would he? I guess those who don’t have a problem with someone like Musk getting involved in world politics let alone domestic US politics and who support Farage will be delighted. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/elon-musk-nigel-farage-donald-trump-reform-uk-b1197417.html

How are you getting on with reading the old posts? Apparently there are 5.7k posts so I’m guessing it will take a few days.
