I get the desire to do something to show that we stand together, but Obama tells us that the French have been their buddies for far longer and he is holding back on doing any more at the moment. If they could prove that by bombing Syria they will make things safer for us in Europe I would have some sympathy, but the chances are that those who are going to commit the next atrocities are already in place and all the bombings will do is escalate the situation.
  2. I heard that he was on £70k per week but be it 70, 80 or 100 all of those amounts seems well north of what we pay at the top of our scale.

I am struggling to understand what "Call me Dave" hopes to achieve with air strikes. It is all well and good to talk of "degrading" ISIL but what have the hundreds of missions that have already been completed achieved? It smacks of doing something for the sake of it rather than a well thought out policy to deal with the range of complex issues that we face in the Middle East.

You don't have to be two footed to play on the left if you are right footed though. Premiership players are at the top of their profession and players of that calibre should be able to adapt and do a job for the team. I played for several years at left back despite being right footed.

Playing at the back is the easiest position in football, You have the whole game in front of you and any decent defender should be able to play anywhere across the back four if needed. It is all about getting your positioning right and your awareness of where your team mates are as well as the players you are defending against. This is what lets Yoshida down. He gets away with it more when he plays at CH because he has players either side of him but he still manages to get himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. As for dithering on the ball the other day, again, his brain doesn't seem to engage quickly enough at times. As Whitey said, you rarely if ever see a Premiership footballer lose the ball like that. It was a schoolboy error.

Given that he rested Clasie too I tend to think that it was a tactical move and that he is saving Cedric for tomorrow.
  11. That will please Batman. Is probably on his list to Father Christmas!

You haven't seen the support for him then when he has c*cked up at RB?
  13. This is crucial. All successful teams have a consistent back 4. You can tinker all day long in midfield and up front but changing the back four for tactical reasons doesn't really work.

    Yoshida

You are right. Yoshida has had a lot of support on here. Certainly up until his last c*ck up, although there were still some saying that he was a decent CH. Sadly Yoshi clearly does not learn from his mistakes. He is fine as a squad player but really shouldn't be starting in a Premiership team.

I expect when they bought Cedric they expected more although I don't know why he doesn't play more often. The signing of Martina seems an odd one if he isn't going to play.

    Nail on head.
  20. I don't disagree with you and all managers make mistakes at times. There do seem to be some people here who are losing faith in Koeman though and I do find that strange.

The mistakes he makes have little to do with the need to protection though. I don't know what he was trying to do for the first goal on Saturday and as has been said where the hell was he for the third? His back pass against United was also down to his poor concentration. He shouldn't be starting.
  23. I am not sure that he is a genius but he clearly is a decent manager. Not that you would know it looking at some of the comments on the match thread. If he chose a team for Saturday with an eye to giving us our best chance against Liverpool I don't have a problem with that.
  24. I am not saying this is the case, but if Ron sees the Liverpool match as being more important, and we win, would you be happy?
  25. I don't know what his thinking is and I don't know what the situation with the players is. I also think that the manager can only do so much and once the players cross that line they need to take responsibility for their performance. Yoshida has plenty of support on here for example. Why? One minute we have the best squad in depth ever but we lose a match and then we don't. If resting Cedric and giving Tadic a half means that we have a better chance of beating Liverpool I am happy with that.
