Alps, print this out, stick it on your fridge. Read it every day before you log on here.

Les Reed says he did all he could to get Toby in. AM accepted our offer but the player chose his "dream move" to Spuds. How is that Reed's fault? I despair. We are supposed to be supporting the club not picking holes in something that we had no control over. As the OP says, was nothing leant last summer?
-
Phew, just as well he didn't post the full text then!
-
Good call Batman, getting your bed wetting in early!
-
Last summer many bed clothes were soiled at this point and those of us with more bladder control were saying wait until the transfer window closes before you bring out the plastic sheets. Just a thought. Why not try that this summer too? There is absolutely no point in bursting a blood vessel until we know what our squad comprises of.
-
Did they though? Toby says that Tottenham is his dream move and that he always followed their results. Do you think we could match Clyne's wages at Liverpool. You know better than most how bad things were when Lowe said he didn't know where the next £ was coming from. We don't want to go down that road again do we?
-
Les, if Alpine Saint was offered a lot more money by a bigger company, do you think he would take the offer or would he stay where he was out of a sense of loyalty?
-
I have the same right to judge as you mate. And isn't sharing opinions what this forum is about? I think I have made it clear that I don't have a problem with the current Board. I do have a problem with people who seem to think that running a club the size of SFC is a piece of p*ss and that they could do better.
-
Here is a question for you Alpine. Given that Toby clearly wanted to sign for Spurs and Clyne was clearly not going to sign a new contract, what you do suggest that Les should have done differently to make them change their minds?
-
Les, there are a number of people on an internet forum who think you are crap at your job and that they can do better. Would you consider job sharing with them so that they can pass on the benefit of their wisdom to you? Can you start with Alpine Saint please?
-
Then perhaps people should ask the genuine questions and not behave like babies who have lost their dummies.
-
With regards to my previous comment, I use the quote above as an example.
-
Seems to me that the thread is being used by the more negative of our brethren to start sharpening their knives again and that is the point I was addressing.

He has said he will see out his contract so in answer to your question, another two seasons.

So then. Les and Ralph were both vilified by the bed wetting fraternity last summer during the "meltdown." They had to bite their tongues when the football started because they had done their jobs well and the results were good. Now it seems that they are crap again because a player we didn't own decided he wanted to go to Spuds and not us and that another player, with a year left on his contact, didn't want to sign a new one and preferred to sign for a bigger club. Really, what is the problem?
-
I really don't think they would have said anything about Clyne if they really didn't think they thought he would defo be off. It seems like he waws hedging his bets to see what was on the table for him. As for Toby, apparently the club didn't know of his wish to go to Spuds until Monday. Unless Reed can get himself a decent crystal ball I don't see what else he can do? And as for buying replacements before players leave, isn't that what happened with Soares?
-
Every club has its share of deluded and arrogant fans. Just look at this forum!
-
Do you read Alpine Saint's posts on TSW and do you consider yourself incompetent as a result?
-
If we had had a deeper squad last season who knows what would have happened. If we had had a bit more luck through injuries and suspensions. If. If. If. We came close no doubt about that but to sustain that challenge we need to spend more and that is the problem with all clubs our size. Do you go for it and put the club at financial risk or do you go for sustainable growth. We have chosen the latter option which means more frustration in terms of competing but, hopefully, it also means no more shenanigans like a few years ago. It is gutting to miss out on the likes of Toby but if it means living within our means and no more trips to the lower divisions then I can live with that.
-
Makes sense otherwise you would have more of a feeding frenzy close season.
-
And do we get TV money in one hit or is that phased over the season?
-
Serious question. Does anyone know how the transfer money is paid? A whopping cheque straight away or phased payments over a period of time?
-
Less spend or buying fewer players?
