Every transfer window its the same here. No one has a clue what is going on behind the scenes but because nothing happens they assume that nothing is being done. Surely it is better to get your targets than ending up with players for the sake of it and for whatever reasons those targets do not always come off. We know that it is not Cortese's way to conduct his business through the press so there are probably less rumours floating around about us than other clubs. As Ron says, these people have proved themselves with back to back transfers so to suggest that they leave everything to the last minute, or don't know enough about the players we need when cyber jockeys on the Internet clearly do, is beyond laughable.

Perhaps you should ask the manager not an internet forum?

One of Adkins key attributes to me is his possitivity. Booing is negative and does nothing to help the situation other than make the booee feel better. Can you put yourself in a situation where you are at work, do something wrong and the people around you start booing and slagging you off. Is that really going to make you try harder of just make you feel worse? Some will come on and say thet pay their money and they are entitled to boo. They may be right but by making the the poor sod feel like cr*p is that really just making things even worse? It has been said that the crowd can be the 12th man. If they react in a negative way that 12th man could end up helping the opponents.

It is easy to focus on our mistakes but look at the goals United concede andthe poor way they defend. We are not alone. I agree, I don't think Joe Hart is that good either.

Every manager makes mistakes every week. Ferguson has got a dreadful defence but gets away with it because his team score lots of goals. It can't be easy having to deal with transfers via a commitee and I wonder how many players that came in over the summer were on Adkins shopping list? Given time I think he will do ok at this level and if we do go down I cant think of anyone better to bring us up again.

I wonder who spread all the rumours about Pardew to try and make it look like it was more than just not seeing eye to eye? Funny they have all vanished now! As much as I like Adkins, Pardew's signings were better and you wonder what he would have done with £30 odd million for us this season.

Sadly this was not a one off. KD played a suicide ball out early on in the season and we have made too many unforced mistakes at the back.

I don't get why all the flak is headed Adkins way. Cortese and Reid clearly have a huge part to play in this season's problems but it seems okay to single out one bloke.

Which is still peanuts. At that point the most we ever spent on a player was £4m and that was years ago. You say no club could match. Really? We can't match what Chelsea and man City spend - it is all relative.

It is not a question of us being 4th and everything would be great. As FF says, the chances of a "smaller" club ever coming runners up as we did under Big Mac are non existant now. That was the difference. And anyone who says the football is beter now obviously never saw George Best, Rodney Marsh et all strut their stuff. When we went down from the Prem last tme I was gutted and thought that was the only place to be. I have completely changed my mid now. The football in the Championship is good quality and I would have no problem staying there anymore. I don't want my football club to be a "brand." The Prem sold its soul years ago to Murdoch and like everything he touches he devalues it in terms of soul. It is all about the money, money, money. When we spent £12 on Ramirez that just didnt feel right. We don't spend shedloads on players. We find gems like Lambert and Pahars or develop our own. The Premiership sucks.
