Does this happen to anyone else, or is it just me?
Trumush replied to Thorpe-le-Saint's topic in The Saints
For all you local Liebherr crane spotters all you need to do is look at our very own container terminal where you can find three of the beautys, the three big one's in the middle. Still think the purchase of those three fairly recently, and the purchase of our football club is no coincidence even though as has been pointed out our Marcus is no longer directly involved with the family company. -
The big loss here is Murty's presence on the field of play. Yes we have a couple of players who could play right back but he adds much more to the team by just being on the pitch.
-
You're a week out David Still hopefully Tranmere might be knackered after their excursion to Aldershot.

I'm not the bloke who sits behind you as I can't be there every game but I shout myself hoarse every time I go(including yesterday) saying the same thing "keep it on the ground". We are a very good team when we play football on the ground.Yesterday every time the ball was punted up field back it came because nobody won a header. If we played it on the ground we would have won , as they couldnt cope with Lallana & Connolly.

I've got a shilling that says we will be above them come May!!!!

Just a shame that a true gent like Herbie has to be associated with the total scumbag that is Westwood.

Every game except WBA away. Had ticket & coach booked, then came down with "real" flu for the only time in my life.Could'nt stand up let alone go out. Gutted. Still the rest was good fun!!

SirrAlex did'nt cover himself in glory after that one did he !!! Great day in a period when we had a few great days.

Priceless !!!!

Just as a matter of interest how much would a Saints crest, coloured in,normal size cost to have tattoo'd on say a calf,or a shoulder ?

My first impression of starting to read this thread is that saint boggy must be under 18 because anyone any older knows exactly why the animosity exists and its all been well covered in subsequent replies. If you speak to saints fan's of my age (over 50 ) they will tell you that we referred to them as scum long before they came back with the scummer tag linked to the urban myth of strike breaking dock workers. The problem now is if you tell enough people enough lies for long enough some people will believe it.Even the BBC in their build up to the televised cup tie a few year's ago referred to saints fans getting the scum tag because of strike breaking dock workers when as we know this is complete and utter fabrication. The skate tag only came about because when they started calling us scummers back some bright spark at the ugly inside decided we may as well come up with a new derogatory term for them.

No apology required macca,I was in the Milton end with the rest of the Saints fans and before that ball had hit the back of the net the Fratton end emptied and they were on their way round.Outside the ground they were kicking the front walls of houses down to arm themselves with bricks. As you quite rightly say;still an enjoyable night. I too rated Steve Williams very highly. Never the same player at Arsenal.
-
Sorry Macca155 I misread your post. You were talking about missing Mick Channons debut. It was definitely him though that scored the goal at Fratton to relegate the Skates,I didnt need glasses in those days !!!!!
-
You did'nt miss Mick Channon because he scored the goal at Fratton to relegate Pompey in 1976.Steve Williams made his dedut in that game. I was there as well.Did get a bit hairy when that goal went in!!!!

Well done to the guy's who compiled that article, a great read, and those photo's brought back plenty of memories. I too have been lucky enough to have watched most of the 50 in action for the Saints. I was sat in the West Stand right behind Ivan Golac when he hit that rocket mentioned in the article. The one touch "triangles" between Golac,Williams and Alan Ball really were a joy to watch.

Sunday's event was the 20th running of the GSR,the last 19 at its present venue and the first in 1990 at; as the announcer said "that other place on the south coast - ssss.....",the prat could'nt even stomach saying the name. It did get me thinking as to why we only had, what has turned into a highly prestigious, televised international sporting event for that one year.Did our council give it away thinking it would'nt catch on, or did portsmouth council seeing the potential steal it from us. My memory is'nt so good, can anyone remind me?

The Court Jester in Terminus Terrace ticks all the boxes. Bit of a leg from the station but only a 10 min walk to the ground.

Tim Please pass on my condolences to Ron,my childhood hero, and I really do hope he has the strength to survive this tragedy. All your friends in Southampton are with you Ron.

Just watched MK Dons on the FL Show and agree, they are very quick and direct. Might have to resort to the old tactic of scoring more goals than the opposition, which I think we are capable of: 5-4 anyone ????
-
Agree that the impact sub might be the way to go with Connolly, given his injury problems. He could get 15 goals a season coming off the bench !!!
-
These stats emphasise just how great a player David Armstrong was . High spot - that cross for Steve Moran to sink the skates in the last minutes at nottarf in the cup. Low spot - straying offside for KK's wonder dissallowed "goal". Still one of my all time favourite Saints.

Success breeds success and I can see results improving as long as we can keep a settled side. As we know there is not a great deal in reserve, especially in defence. I would be dissapointed with a defeat at Oldham on saturday.

I was a regular subscriber ( 50 years worth ) until you could no longer buy it at 6.00pm on a saturday night.

Pardew interviewed on Radio Solent said he would put out a strong team as they are taking the competition seriously.Good news for the fans going .

Take him to a game, but as others have mentioned be prepared for him to want to go home at halftime(or maybe earlier). Plenty of sweets and a mobile electronic game will help. Don't be put off by non believers threatening to report you to Childline for child abuse !!
