  1. https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1516798800 15:00-15:30 section, five minutes from the end (so 15:25 live) Says he's 'not a world beater but got it in him to be a very acceptable Southampton centre forward'.
  2. Problem we also have is the tax in Russia; They pay a flat rate of 13%; as the figures are likely to be his net pay, he'd be on roughly £75k a week. For him to take home the same amount, Saints would have to pay him around £116k (based on some basic maths and without bonuses etc). It's possible we can pay that, given VVD has freed up a fair bit of wages in the budget, but that's presuming a move to England to play for a team fighting relegation is attractive enough without a payrise; saying that, surely we wouldn't be trying to negotiate with his club if they hadn't been given some sort of indication he'd be interested in coming.
  3. https://www.sport-express.ru/football/rfpl/reviews/promes-i-sautgempton-realen-li-transfer-1361849/ Bit of an update here. - Promes has a €30m release clause -He is on around £66k a week at Spartak, the proposal from Saints currently is £49k a week. Not sure whether that is net or gross. - Promes gets around 15% of any transfer. - "Promes is not too happy with the prospect of a struggle for survival - both this season and in the future. But there is a version with a flight. We need to pay tribute to the attacker: he would like to be, if not the top club, then at least in the team that claims every year for places in European competition. The current "Southampton" to such clearly does not apply. And it's impossible to buy a football player against his will." - Spartak won't sell for less than the clause as they are in three competitions and could get Champions League - "This season, Quincy is likely to end in "Spartacus." But whether the next one starts is a big question."
  4. http://en.spartak.com/match/1227424/ He did according to this. Apparently only played against Hulk...
  5. Vegard Forren? Think Bertrand was after Koeman was appointed as we had signed Tadic before him I think. Bednarek was before Pellegrino wasn't he?
  6. Trousers will have to figure out his GriffITK credentials.. I'll get my coat.
  7. https://www.sport-express.ru/football/rfpl/news/pryamo-seychas-promes-ne-uydet-v-sautgempton-i-vot-pochemu-1361076/ Translation: Today, the publication Sky Sports reported that the forward of "Spartacus" Quincy Promes is close to the transition to "Southampton" . According to the source, the deal will amount to at least 30 million pounds sterling. However, according to the "SE", this information is not true - at the moment, the management of red and white does not consider such an option to sell the 26-year-old Dutchman. With a high degree of probability, the forward will play all season-2017/18 with the Muscovites. Recall that in this championship of Russia Promes spent 17 matches, scoring 10 goals and making 6 assists. In addition, he played 5 meetings in the Champions League - 2 goals and 2 assists. 8. He's a bit like Chamberlain in League One where he could just run at full-backs while being stocky enough to hold people off, but even then Chamberlain's football brain was probably far better. Just shows really that for all the obsession with physical attributes, as you said, you need to be very clever at the top level. Other side of the coin you have JWP with that particular strength in his head, yet because he plays wide but is slow and not particularly strong, he gets pelters. Fair point- positivity is in short supply anyway, can't use up all the rations of it at once
  9. He's a once in a blue moon player; he'll have a game like he did against Arsenal last season, but then hasn't done anything since through injury and just generally being a bit average. His attitude is somewhat questionable too- on his return to Villa Park he made a pretty horrific tackle two minutes in and got himself sent off.
  10. Watched him at Villa. Runs in a straight line down the right very quick, before putting his cross into row Z or running it out for a goalkick- pretty poor player to be honest.
  11. Incorrect.
  12. https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/953186633486127105 Sounds like Gabbiadini to Bologna may not be happening this window- the player he was rumoured to be replacing isn't leaving by looks of this.

  14. Another timeless classic.
  15. Eleven points dropped from winning positions now.
  16. Might just be my own opinion, but Pellè's equaliser seemed louder. I'd probably say Mane's hattrick is up there too
  17. http://www.breakingtravelnews.com/news/article/rogers-takes-over-as-chief-executive-of-farnborough-international/ Now the CEO of Farnborough International
  18. That doesn't really tell the full story; Tottenham had an xG of 3.08, we had an xG of 0.59. https://understat.com/match/7316
  19. Unbelievable strike. https://twitter.com/FTalentScout/status/950850861244342273
  20. Luciano Vietto, who we were linked with earlier in the window, has gone to Valencia on loan. He's scored a hat trick on his debut.
  21. Sam Gallagher by any chance?
  22. You would know better than me as it sounds as though you've seen far more than me; I've only briefly seen him if nothing else is on TV and stuck on BT Sport. However, as Smirking Saint says, we do need a target man. The whole team seems to fit playing around a spearhead; whether or not Carrillo is the spearhead we need is another question.
  23. Had a look at this guy's goal record. 15 goals in 65 league appearances doesn't sound great at all, but this and last season he's got a fairly decent record; a goal every 104 minutes this season, one every 83 minutes last : https://www.transfermarkt.com/guido-carrillo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/184672/saison//verein/0/liga/0/wettbewerb/FR1/pos/0/trainer_id/0/plus/1 For reference, only Charlie Austin out of the Saints squad has a better minutes per goal at 83 minutes per goal. Not saying he'll be the silver bullet to solve all our problems but it's a fairly decent record for someone who doesn't play that much.
  24. Fair enough. FWIW, providing we bring in the two attackers we need in this window, I'd be fairly happy to save a chunk for the summer when the prices are less inflated.
  25. Probably because they won't pick up the full fee up front. It's standard practice to pay for players over a number of seasons. For example: http://www.juventus.com/media/native/investor-relations-docs/italiano/comunicati/2017/comunicato%2008082017%20lemina%20eng.pdf
