Fair enough if you think it's b******s. Targett has improved but I don't agree that he has been playing "really well" and still feel he is a weak link. I expect Ralph will stick with him this week but wouldn't be surprised to see Bertrand get 20 minutes off the bench and then start against Arsenal in a couple of weeks.

McCarthy Bednarek Stephens/Yoshida Vestergaard Bertrand JWP Romeu Hojbjerg Armstrong Redmond Gallagher 3-5-2 Subs: Gunn, Stephens/Yoshida, Targett, Valery, Slattery, Long, Austin. I'd go for Gallagher as I feel Austin is a better option from the bench. Long was dreadful when he came on for Ings on Saturday. JWP at RWB purely because Valery had a shocker against Murphy in the reverse fixture and I genuinely don't think he's good enough yet. Predicting a 2-0 win.
-
Get him straight back in on Saturday. It's such a massive game, we need our best team out there. Targett has done ok but that is about it. Bertrand is quicker, better at passing, has better positioning and is a lot more consistent with his crossing.
-
Pretty much this. He isn't quite as good on the ball but that is about it. He was sensational away at Chelsea and expect he'll be back in the side against Arsenal. Not sure Ralph will put him straight back in on Saturday.

I was relatively impressed. He's better at winning aerial challenges that I imagined. Decent footwork and kept it pretty simple. More to come from him I think. -
One of the reasons we failed to win today. His only real attribute was his tireless running but he doesn't even do that any more.
-
He isn't fit enough to win a place in the side, not a bad player to have on the bench but if Ings gets injured but not sure he's the type of player Ralph would like to rely on.
-
The way Ralph sets the team up would suit Bertrand more than Targett, so that certainly wouldn't be the reason if Bertrand does leave (can't see it happening)
-
This must be a wind up. He gave it away countless times and should have been sent off too.
-
Just can't see Birmingham selling him before the end of the season.
-
I'd rather Fulham got a result against Brighton, mainly because I think they will go down and Brighton are certainly catchable.
-
Get rid of Bertrand? Good job you're not in charge.
-
I actually disagree that he gets beaten too easily. I think he's a decent 1 on 1 defender but struggles with his awareness and can't really head the ball. If we're offered £10 million plus I'd take it, on the basis that we're signing a replacement as Valery certainly isn't up to the required standard yet.
-
I think he still has a lot to learn. Not convinced he's any good going forwards at the moment (has he even put in a decent cross yet?) and seems to be a bit of a liability in terms of his temperament and struggles against pacy players. Lots of time for him to improve though.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester

He's a perfectly capable centre back when he's playing alongside 2 others as his lack of pace isn't as exposed as much. Seems like he's starting to cut the silly mistakes out now. He's actually very good at bringing the ball out as well - would like us to sign another CB and have Stephens and Yoshida as cover. -
Cedric Soares - Official: Loaned to Arsenal

His crossing is horrendous yes but his defending certainly isn't a problem in my opinion. How many times does he get beaten by an opposition winger? Sometimes struggles slightly positionally but he is more than capable for a club of our size. I'd prefer we kept him as I'm far from convinced about our recruitment strategy of late. -

Exactly this. We've done it to ourselves by leaving it so late in the day to sack Pellegrino. Not exactly enamoured by the appointment but I feel as if we have more of a chance under Hughes!

FA Cup Qtr Final Saints v Wigan or Man City AWAy
Harry_SFC replied to John Boy Saint's topic in The Saints
If Spurs beat Rochdale (I'm sure they will) then their game with Swansea or Sheffield Wednesday is almost guaranteed to be played on the Friday night. That just leaves early Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Personally I'm hoping it's the Sunday. -
I thought the midfield did well in general, Ward Prowse and Tadic were actually very good today. Very shaky from set pieces - Jack Stephens just isn't good enough in the air or physical enough to be a first choice premier league centre back. We know we can play well against the better sides but we're always let down with a shocking display following on from these. The Brighton game is seriously massive now.
-
This is it for me. We've seen it all with our good friend Jack. Its basically just taking the info thats already out there and adding in little bits that sound believable in the hope that it happens and the poster in question then claims 'ITK' status and 'I told you so'
-
Generally he's a very good defender. Tonight has been a bad night all round.
-
To say Tadic was "very good" today is pushing it a bit I think..
