  1. It is in my interests NA is a success and so I hope the appointment is correct. I am very far from being excited about his appointment.I understand win percentages mean nothing but 42% is very average. He got promotion he 2nd time by the play-offs and so he is hardly a messiah. I will support him, but i can't see how he will lead us back to the PL as he has no experience there and so if we are picking him for his ability to get us out of this league i assume he will only be here for 2 years and then we go for someone again. I think that the next couple of weeks when/if we get players and if they inspire me i will perhaps warm a bit more to him. No doubt my thinking has been effected by my desire to have had Howe. Yes he has little experience but his achievements have been exceptional under the constraints he has worked under. He is the younger version of NA, no experience in the top flight but getting promotion. I firmly beleive he will become a top PL manager one day and feel we may have missed a top man in the long run.
  2. not from 30 managers who applied though As for B'mouth and Scunny , what makes you say we have a credibiltiy problem with them? We are no different than most other clubs we just think there is a problem
  3. If there is a transfer committee I would expect they would have got some names lined up.NA will also have some players in his mind
  4. True Phil , we will see if the club get in some new faces that NA wants. This squad is not good enough and all those who say we have the best in the league are deluded IMO.We cant even keep a clean sheet. Morgan is not good enough to be the main man in midfield and as for the lack of pace!!!!
  5. our squad is weaker than it was last season. We need not only a manager
  6. I do hope NA doesnt emulate LM's first season
  7. I desperately want Adkins to do well, I still think Howe will turn into a top manager (another impressive win today) and disappointed he was not the one. Hurry up and get NA in so we dont have too much to catch up.He really needs to get our forwards scoring and a lot more pace
  8. Iam hoping but still hold little faith it will happen. Who is going to do the in depth investigation? The administrator. The new owners interests are not served by lots of penalties being applied to the club eg points penalties. Therefore i dont have faith that it really will be dealt with like it should. I hope AA proves me wrong and is like a bulldog trying to get to the bones, but who will pay for the turkeys voting for christmas? We have seen a major event played out in front of our eyes and nothing has been done, as i still maintain Pompey will get away with it
  9. PES you only have to have read about ML to know how the club was to be financed. After the initial ridding it of any debt it was to run on its own earnings. That is why NC is trying to squeeze every available penny from its resources. i do believe there will be some funds given regarding the staplewood but in the main the club has to stand on its own feet. I dont believe we will be in the position to buy £20m players and the wages to go with it. You have been given by hook and lots of crook some wonderful memories on the back of bending cheating and scraping. They can't be taken away but please don't come on here all hurt as many resent how you got those. The expense of many young kids and devoted football fans of other clubs who were robbed of their day in the sun by your corrupt football club, who had cheated their way to get to the cup finals by fielding a team of stars 16-20k gates could not support. When justice is eventually served then perhaps your club can get some honour and pride back If only all football clubs did the same football would be a much more even playing field. Your club of course would be playing in Paulsgrove as it does not have anything to support it without major outside funding.
  10. just another Skate trying to be clever....a oxymoron if there ever was one.
  11. it makes me laugh all the snobs who sneer at the Sun Mail etc, what makes people arrogantly believe what is right and wrong to read. They are the market leaders and wipe the floor with the opposition. The Guardian etc is fine if you are looking for a job in the civil service but if it wasnt for those (situations vacant, government) revenues I doubt it would survive. I don't take any newspapers but if i did it would be one of those 2 or the Times, as i like its format. As for NC visiting NI fair play, they obviously want to build bridges enough to show him around.
  12. PES you used to be a decent poster but you have become a bitter Skate and have sunk to Ho's level. All your platitudes about you wanting Tony Lynham to save us etc were all a sham. Perhaps all along you knew it was a nonsense but were just on a wind up. Merovian and mackRill are the only 2 who really can hold their heads up on here as being humourous and decent. I know there are a lot who are pretty harsh to your lot on here but to come on and compare us and the running of our club to yours is ridiculous. NC is rubbing the press up the wrong way but that does not mean he is a fool or bad, perhaps professional, would you say Storrie and his soundbites is better?
  13. well if that is the case why make it public?
  14. I assume he turned it down as he looked like second choice, and probably was. I would have preferred him rather than Adkins but que sera
  15. their chairman has decided to keep his mouth shut then. NC has called his bluff it seems.
  16. it is as true as any other statement that has come out today.
  17. That Weston saint certainly has a charm but idol???
  18. You think that 2 days on the training pitch , getting to know the players and go through some routines, is worse than having a new man in place our squad turning up to training expecting to meet the new man only to be told 'He doesn't want to meet you yet he thinks saying goodbye to his old team is more important' I doubt he would make a massive difference, but any would be important. Again we dont know if this is truly the case but if so, a mistake.
  19. shouldn't you be at Pompey dockyard?
  20. it is a big mistake
  21. i cna see both sides but are we a bunch of pussies. We have started the season badly and so need a manager getting the side prepared for an important game. Yes he should go and say his goodbyes but immediately before a game ????
  22. FF but in May Rooney was happily married England were in with a chance of the world cup etc etc. We dont know what happened, and i suspect your sources are not as clued up as they were with this new regime. It saddens me that a fan as commited as you have been so easily turns on the one it loves
  23. that is all well and good but it is thursday, he would not have got to training until tomorrow. Hardly the preparation before a game. Surely he could go and say goodbye sunday or monday.
  24. are you trying to compare a club that is being run professionally and in line with proper finance and business practice and your grimy heap. PES you should go away and hang your head. Your club have cheated beyond reason, and deprived the revenue (the nation) of funds, add to that barefaced bending of rules and there is no comparison. Perhaps our club is being run by a tough chairman and we dont know if the club was bought on borrowings, but one thing is for certain it is not trading insolvently and used every dodge in the book to avoid paying its way
