' A THUG who attacked a teenager at a Winchester bar has been given a 12-month suspended sentence. Winchester Crown Court Thug escapes jail after attack in Winchester ##########, punched Southampton student ######## as he was leaving Bar 3One in The Square in the early hours of Good Friday last year. A jury convicted ###### of carrying out the attack, which left his 18-year-old victim with a fractured nose and eye socket. He also had to have a metal plate inserted into his face. Judge #r, CBE, described the attack as a 'malicious assault'. He said: “You will know that courts are very worried about the number of outbreaks of violence late at night. “So I have a duty to send a message out that people who behave violently on the streets of Winchester need to be taught a lesson. “The sentence is suspended so that you have the opportunity to show me that you can live for the next two-years without committing any other offences.” #, claimed he acted in self-defence. # was ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work and pay his victim £1,200 in compensation. His 12-month sentence was suspended for two years. ' I copy an example why I believe the sentences were harsh, now it could be said that the judge was too soft of course.

that's the point, if it happened elsewhere they would get a suspended sentence or community service. I dont condone the violence, but those fans were behind fences . if they had beaten up a fan, then I would be very happy with this sentence but it was posturing. I think a fan on here siad that the police were out to make examples of these people. Funny how W******d, who ****ed on the seats and was banned, was not convicted of indecent exposure and his banning order got lost.

yep, those hub caps are a grand a time. Every scratch and dent that had been on the cars would all of a sudden appear as criminal damage on the day. You know how it goes when people think they can make a claim. I dont condone it, but passions rise and even sensible people can lose it. How long did those fans get for beating the yeovil fan outside the ground?

How about accepting that the club just dont wish to have an installment plan this season, they may also not want to provide a creche, should we be up in arms about that? The club can decide as they wish and it is not all about trying to upset the fan base. I suspect NC is very happy that his scheme re the new shirt without the sponsors name is likely to bring in another fantastic profit, he knows how to wring it out of us, but why the surprise?
-
Harsh. Making examples is ok ,but for hurling hub caps!!! shame the lady judge was lenient when Pompey went to the High court after taking 138m of other peoples money

MOG, the JPT was last season and so the charter should have been current then. The £3 booking fee pre ticket was not fan friedly. Personally Im getting on with it, the club needs money to pay for better players and so we all have to contribute a bit
-
You are right, I mentioned the fans charter some time ago. The whole JPT thing was a rip off, charging a booking fee per ticket was the worst IMO.....of course our own fans were doing the same Silverspoon lol

May I add that the coach operators knew that the coaches would be in short supply and lift their rates. I do agree though that the club may have got a profit. They are a business and so why not?
-
it is isnt a case of I'll give 10 reasons so you give 10 reasons why not. As a s/t holder I pay for 23 games, of which due to various committments I can't make perhaps 5-6. The club realise that really Iam paying more per game than if I bought weekly as I may only attend 16/17/18. Also I will go if we are not winning every game. If they dont sell me a s/t they know I may not go if we are not winning. So therefore these business minded people realsie that the S?T holders are important and I believe will not jeopodise that. Again I agree the renewals not sent out is an odd one, but I dont see the conspiracy here.
-
There is one thing that tells me that the club are not trying to get S/ts stopped. If they wanted to get rid, I doubt they'd have given such a discount if you buy before a certain time. I do agree that the renewal forms should have been sent by post, but the club may send a reminder, with say 10 days to go to people who have not renewed. That would save costs but target the fans who were not renewing. I may be proved wrong but I dont think the club wish to upset the S/t fan base.

it didnt effect them until last night.
-
no we should play Rooney up front in a lone role , like he does for Man u with wingers and midfielders breaking into the box
-
DD, I only blame the people I dont rate. 'it's all your fault'.....only kidding
-
I think Beckenbauer's comments about kick and rush really hit the spot and the players tried to play an alien game. As for not qualkifying for Euro 2008 , luckily we got rid of all those players.........ohh

it is football fan disease, even Capello is now getting flak
-
there might be an insurance you could take out in case there was a problem. Like Tractor I dont think I will try it but if you read the Citywire piece the loophole was there to help the Islamic church and the banks wanted this to be albe to lend them money.
-
what players were sold on the cheap and replaced by others?
-
i didn't realise until this week there is a loop hole that you can legally avoid stamp duty. The solicitors involved are not interested unless the transaction is over 500k. They save the buyer 50% and pocket the rest. It seems too good to be true but i have read a couple of articles about it. Google, avoiding stamp duty and you will get the background to it. You may have to register with Citywire to read the best article on it. Another loss of revenue to the treasury, and if legally you can do so why not?

Fair comment. i abhor those credit companies who know that they can rip people off as they are a credit risk. never will they escape it , very sad and is not what capitalism is about IMo
-
A tad harsh Tim, but after your comment calling me a goon not getting into shares a few weeks ago I realise it may be your normal manner
-
That's fine if the majority are unhappy but frankly I believe the majority feel it is a mountain out of a molehill. The football club have no responsibility to offer installment plans and have obviously found it onerous to do so. I believe that the majority of people are bright enough to go and get credit if needed and don't need to pay extortionate rates to do so. Im sure there will be many other causes in the future if the clubs response to Stu is anything to go by. Iam amazed at the message they sent and is totally out of line with their normal stuff. To be fair telling him to 'F### off, and mind your own business' can never be done nicely but they could have been a tad softer.
-
Stu I dont think the club are lying. They dont want a debate as a decision is made and so wish to move on. I know you have taken a lot of time but whatever you say or how you set it out the club will have costs. Whether it be paying the third party a commission on sales or trying to stop people who have defaulted not using the S/T. Again all bad publicity for them in a no win situation. If a fan has a bad credit history and can't get a loan elsewhere, are the club expected to cough up when it is not their fault? I have every sympathy with people who cannot afford to buy a ticket in one go, and the installment plan must have helped many people, but I suggest that a fair percentage took the p### and the club were left chasing shadows. I dont condone the reply you got from the club, and feel they could have worded it more kindly, but it was firm in respect that it left no doubt that they will not get involved in a debate. You will not reply and so they can now move onto the next problem.

Defoe on his own up front!!!!!! behave , he relies on flick ons and scraps he cant trun the line as Rooney can. Play Rooney where he can actually do some dmage like he does for Man u then you will see a different player. Lampard and Gerrard, surely we have tried that enough and one takes from the other. Cole can graft in Lampards place and play 2 wingers to frighten them with pace.
-
The manager does have an inpact after the game kicks off but only with subs and half time team talk. The players out there are supposedly the cream of English football. They swan around earning 90k a week and haven't the brain or where with all to take a game by the scruff of the neck. It is nearly universal that Lampard and Gerrard do not gel and so ,Lampard shoudl go as he is not the captain and Gerrard does have move drive. To not qualify from that group would be disgraceful, it is time they stood up and be counted.

it looks as though NC and Ml honeymoon period is over. Take a pop at one of them and you are doing it to both. ML has supreme faith in NC and I suspect will take it badly if his chosen representative is getting flak. I agree that Stu has not got a reasoned response, although the club must get loads of 'helpful ideas' I have always thought that all football clubs look on the fans as mugs, they might say they dont but realistically we are suckers waiting to be fleeced. Example, the wife goes out and buys my daughters something , i get home 'What the f### are you spending that on them for' Thursday wife goes to megastore buys both daughters shirts £70 out the door, I come home 'They are great , did you get yourself one'
