the HMRC asking for confidentiality would suggest that they will do a deal today. Otherwise why would they say anything to tyr and keep Pompey from talking.

there might be something in it, Ive just seen kate Adie in a flak jacket outside SMS As for the opening post, the poster was only doing what thought best and warning people. All for the best intentions and so give him a break

I thought yesterday Pompey were to have their appeal. That was to the court not the HMRC was it not? Why the meeting with the HMRC if Pompey were so sure of the appeal being won? I accept that they will wriggle out and have felt so for some time. I can see the revenue taking the 1.8m on the terms of default again and then goodbye. Since the winding up order the tax and vat owed must have been increased and funnily enough 1.8m is about the money due on the 2 sales made in the transfer window. That would be the money received for those sales.

Realistically , we have the best chance to win the JPT, so its that 1 for me, obviously beating Pomey (not thinking of winning the cup) the play offs would be an amazing bionus

but when people who go to games have a differing view you get all defensive and then say well' merrington said this or the commentator said that' I accept you make your posts out of frustration as you want us to do well, but it does get pretty irritating after every game or every manager change. The people who should be critical are the people who put their hard money into the club, they have the right to the opinion.ML is the man who should be respected to make the correct decision ,as ultimately he has put his money where his mouth is. Have an opinion and share it, it makes the site more enjoyable, but how about showing some support and positivity to the club for a change.

I was at a do today (details a tad fuzzy as there was a bit of champs) and I was sat next to a corporate lawyer who has done a bit of work with football clubs. I asked him about his thoughts on the Pompey saga and he said he only knew what was in the media. he did say that the court judges were very smart people who have heard it all before, and would not accept any nonsense. I went away not knowing how he thought the case would go, lawyers!!! Basically Football clubs are riddled with dodgy stuff and the worst at paying their debts, from PL down. The HMRC really do pursue these things and would go for the jugular. Pompey will appoint a top man to argue their case, a top mind (above a barrister, I cant recall the name) Apparently there are a lot of IP's (insolvency practitioneers) who want to get to the club to really look at the books and find out where the funds have gone. If he didnt wish to wind them up immediately the judge could appoint accountants to see if they could get the club on a sound footing. Of course then they could delve fully into the accounts and see what really has been going on.(any shredding machine suppliers on the unpaid list lol) It would save the club but the skeletons would be revealed and the penalties from the authorities and the league would follow if there was wrong doing and in turn was proved. Forgive the muddle but I had had quite a bit of fizz and so some of this may be incorrect or badly described.

Perhaps with all the talk , the players realised deep down that the play offs were going to be difficult and the way to get to Wembley was through the JPT. I know that is a low target but as a fan i want ot go to Wembley that is quite possible wheras making the play off finals is/was always going to be tough. The JPT is a distraction, but if we get to Wembley the city will feel good and whilst it is only a tin pot trophy the ZDS all those years ago was a great fun day

and then you'd criticise because we won 3-1 .......Remember when we were winning every game by that score? All those posts complaining (not you on that point)about us letting in goals and of course Davis's inability to be a keeper. I think we should give AP time and if this time next season we are not in position to make the CCC then start questioning the manager.I doubt any team we put out if we were manager would play perfectly each game. The players are human and their minds are not on Exeter game. I suspect most of the fans did not have that game as a priority this week. Wrong i know but human nature.

I think Phil will be best to give opinion on this. He normally dismisses these things

Does anybody know how the Winding up court works. I assume that if the owners of Pompey say they can keep the business running they have to put concrete evidence down on the table. My experience of people who avoid paying me over the years are normally very plausible and fanyastic at making you feel they really will come up with the goods. I expect the court will have sen many more of these people than i have and so should see through the talk.
-
No but Im amzed the moaners were not using him as a stick to beat AP with

My grandfather was at D-day landings and also one of the first to get to Belsen. Sadly he died when i was 6 but he would never talk about his war experiences as that generation never liked talking about it. it must have left some terrible mental scars
-
i think you are confusing yourself, as I was not underwhelmed. Was it NickG?
-
No excuses just a case of being realistic. The club was on its knees, we are getting up and yes we should win more games but the players are getting to know the system. Perhaps the manager is not good enough, but you cant decide over half a season. I think the manager who would be better placed for us to compare and say look what he he has done would be IMO Eddie Howe and what he has done at Bournemouth, incredible with no money as well.
-
I think that is a big statement. It may be true but look from the canvas we started with. I will join your campaign to rid us of the manager next season if we are still in this position, i hope this will all be forgotten by then. Why didnt you go today, it was a home game for you id have thought?
-
We're back to the happy clappy thing again.Lol. Moaning minnies the teachers used to call the more negative people when i was a kid.
-
GS you are obsessed with the last game, or even the last half or last 10 minutes. You come across as having no concept of building a team or giving the club a chance to get back on its feet. I listen to 5live and hear Arsenal fans and even Man u fans moaning about thier managers, there are some short term charlies out there.
-
Lol. Are you really trying to compare saints spending to the spending there!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant wait for the threads on how we bought the JPT lol
-
the same should be said about Hull. Dont disrespect other clubs just because of their size. I agree we are not playing well but there are so many factors. I suspect the players , professional as they are have their minds o0n the other games this week. The league may be talked up but I doubt many really believe we would make the play offs.
-
Not moaning GS (I do see you are trying to be amusing, not Lenny henry are you? winky thing) but pointing out that we have a small number of people who still think that we should beat all comers. Every game we play the opposition up their game a little. as we are 1 of the teams they really want to beat. Yes Leeds also, but they have taken 3-4 years to adapt. I understand we have spent a bit of money, but that is from a very poor squad who let us down in the past. Connolly is still having trouble with an injury and so is being rested as a precaution. He has been out for a few years so lets not rush him,aka Killer. As a s/t holder I am enjoying this season more than i have for sometime and whilst we are not playing the good football we were earlier in the season we are starting to gain confidence as a club again. The arrogance of some of our fans that we are better than yeovil or Exeter is surprising, they also are in the same league as us and have earned their right to play us.Show some class and respect all the clubs in our league

just as an exercise I read the last pages of the second half threads (?) , the last one typical, 'Danns scores, at least we have Puncheon' followed by rolley eyes thing. So all of a sudden Danns has become some kind of hero and Puncheon not rated. I doubt most on here have seen either player live once ot twice. Danns didnt want to come, why should he drop a division?Puncheon should not be compared to a player who is looking to play in higher leagues not ours. This forum seems to have certain people who dont go but want to moan constantantly. If we are still performing like this next season, then I think the moaners have a right to moan, but I doubt ML will sit and do nothing so they should sit back wait and then get ready to moan because they cant get a JPT final ticket
-
I knew we had a poor start, but that really stuffed us early in the season
-
todays results would have been a kick in the guts for Pompey, with a bit of luck Wolves will raise their game as they know they need something tomorrow. A point minimum will help them pull away a tad, a win and Pompeys job is getting very difficult. Listening to the BBC commentators and they were quite scathing how poor they were today. If we could happen to pull off a shock next week and they could go into freefall.
-
I have not listened to the game, but I did hear the commentators at the staret of the second half say the pitch is not fit for rugby let alone football. I never felt we'd make the play offs and so am content in getting mid table safety and the players getting a team shape. The next 2 games really are the make or break of the season. If we happen to f### up the JPT and then the Fa cup game i suggest the fans will start to fall out of love with the manager a bit. If we get to Wembley then I believe that we will carry on in our happy journey. the next week is pivotal to both clubs in the area.

No doubt the club cant afford the lawyers and Im sure he wont do it from his own pocket. Add to that I assume all debts willnow fall into Chanrais hands. It will be interesting to see if the Revenue actually stand up and make an example of Pompey or try and play the soft approach. If it does actually make it to court Im sure the judge will see that the club has constantly breached any lieniency given to them in the past. I also wonder if the vat is up to date?
