  1. And AL being vaunted as a top class player who started taking all the corners, how does that leave him then? Lambert takes all the pens and freekicks (some from 30yards+) and so is his returnpoor as well. I think we are both criticising the wrong things here.
  2. Is that so?crikey
  3. Thanks for that. These things dont show the true picture but helps guage a little. I am surprised that AL has not higher assists.
  4. Well I dont see them as hopeful crosses. We should know that the lower leagues teams are normally well equipped for crosses.Normally each team has 2 lumps of centre halves who clear the ball and everyone else. In the main LJ crosses are in the correct area, and 7 assists does show not a bad return. i doubt there are many others up there from defence or midfield.
  5. 7 assists is not fantastic but still useful, it also doesnt take into account opportunities created but not taken.
  6. but their fans have not the expectations and so they can take longer to build. We lose a game and all of a sudden the manger is no good, and the players are rubbish all of a sudden. It's like spoilt kids.
  7. Well most crossesc are lofted, if you play them all along the ground many wont get past the first defender. Who delivers the ball better?
  8. Are you the top class defender then Weston? you sit with Derry and so no doubt have similar opinions. Most of james crosses come from 20 yards out with bend and pace. it vis AL's that are floated and easily taken by the keepr, hence why he is no longer on corner kicks
  9. Good job you aint an Ipswich fan. They didnt have a -10 spent loads and have a rated manager.
  10. I went ot a game with a top class centre forward and he said that a bullish centre forward would lap up a lot of the delivery that came from james. Getting to the byeline is great ( a bit of a common theme to you derry) but if you watch a lot of games there are few right backs who get to the byeline to cross. Especially if you lack pace to get back to defend.Wingers it should be a priority but that skill is a dying art, and again MLT rarely did so but stil provided much for Dowie to waste.
  11. We are playing L1 football, and so not all crosses will be spot on. In fact even the great MLT put them into the crowd and keepers hands on many occasions. If Murty was fit I would expect james to be on the bench, crossing and set pieces dont get you picked unless you are beckham.
  12. We had a lot of different views about another player in the past, so we obviously look at different facets. James curls the ball away from the keeper and towards the oncoming forward, to me he delivers the ball better than any other player in the team. His tackling etc..well thats a different thing
  13. We all rate different players WGS gave Kevin Davies away for nothing!! I felt Holmes would star this season...but
  14. The mentality of the club was at its lowest. The squad was not equipped to play in L1 at that stage. If you went and watched us at Salisbury in the friendly when AP first arrived you would not have expected us to have any points by now. We were appalling. Most games i now believe we will get a positive result, it is years since i felt that.
  15. I would love to watch it....but i dont get the alternative stuff
  16. If we did get to the play offs I suggest there would be quite a few different faces than there is now, as the squad is still not equipped to get to the playoffs at present.
  17. Professor, why is this sudden turning on the manager from normal right minded fans?????? AP has turned a team of losers and bottlers into a team that is difficult to beat. I dont go along with all he does but I have learnt that forever turning on the manger has NEVER helped us and a part of the reason we are where we are now.
  18. Derry Im really surprised at your impatience and sudden doubting of the manager. Surely you would like a lot of us, leart from turning against the manager. There has never been a manager who has played the team I wanted week in week out. I myself would like to have seen more of Holmes but thats football. As for James i see weaknesses but he is a fantastic crosser of the ball and puts it in the right area.
  19. I am not in disagreement, but many of the fans were saying that papa was rubbish and we must sign antonio at all costs.I would play Papa but I suggest thye are working on his running off the last man.
  20. Lol, you should be on the stage.
  21. It is not excuses it is fair reason IMO. To make up so many points relies on at least 8 clubs above us all going on a long run of poor results. One team loses but then another of our rivals win and fill their place. It is not an impossibility but very unlikely.
  22. I doubt that AP does not see Papa as a worse player. We are only talking a few games ago and Papa was being derided for being offside all the time. I personally see Papa as head and shoulders above Antonio, and will play more as the season goes on.
  23. Thanks Andy
  24. I was told that trottman was unlikely to be kept on a couple of weeks back. How did Bart do?
  25. No it's not impossible but we have been fighting on too many fronts. We are only half way through the season and are still fighting in 3 competitions. Put that aginst the backdrop of not having enough players to fill gaps left by injuries nd suspentions. I do not hold that we have enough quality to play these many games and still win week in week out. The JPT is IMO our best chance of getting anything from the season.Of course if we strengthen well in the window things may change. As for Morgan and AL, I dont think either can be seen as outstanding in this league. Both do well but neither grab a game by the collar and dominate.Even saturday against Exeter their midfield seemed more creative nad effective.
