but the only way they would sell at present is at rock bottom prices. If we manage to stay up the extra income will be 10-20% in what the club can charge. Perhaps the lack of a loan signing may be due to us not being able to raise the money.

I was told we were fully paid up with the IR. That doesnt mean we would not go into administration, in fact it would be best case if were paid up with them (if the horrible eventuality happened) as it is easier to get out of administration if they are not involved.

I suggest that the people on here are known to other fans who then strike up conversations. As we are all fully committed enough to chat about Saints we are some of the more vocal fans. Opinions can be made by reading listening to what is said. Um and Duncan, Daren Wheeler have a great deal of weight in what they say compared to me who is an unknown. If we are so important why was the site used by PR people when the Wilde bunch came on the scene and MW actually used the site. At present we are in a crucial stage of the clubs health.The main protagonists on the board have thankfully shut up and the club is moving together as 1 in an uneasy alliance. I cant see us having a stable club until ALL the board members have departed.There will always be axes to grind with 1 or other of them whoever is at the top. Me for example will not be able to stomach Askham and co eating from the trough even if RL goes. What would be more apt is that it is good we have not got your defeatist we are relegated already stuff. We lost to SU and the point would look bloody nice on our total at present. As for harping back to last season , that was a REAL must win game and even if we did we were not guarenteed safety. As of course you knew these regulations and would not be foolish like some to believe the clubs answer. I dont know how far the perimeter fencing is from the pitch.From the Northam i suspect they are about the 2.75 m from the pitch although the hoardings do take up quite a bit of space. On a cost basis it would always be best that the stands linked and continuous, or is that wrong? I myself would wish that the fans were closer to the pitch aka the Dell but if it is against the rules/law then you have to go with it.

Wes why is it going to be a miricle if we stay up.Are you saying that if we were 4 points clear we would be safe? Some were saying we were down with 14 games to go, others had been saying we would be down at christmas and that we would have the lowest points total ever.Yes it is difficult but not a miracle needed to survive.

I think that is true to a degree but HR had plenty of games to work his magic as Mr Houdini. the players assembled were of poor and weak character add that to BT wanting to go marsden and Bridge pairing gone and some poor signings.The biggest factor in the playing squad as far as i can see was not replacing Killer with a top defender. RL has without a doubt been a major factor in our demise,but he is not the only person to have been responsible. We as a club have been cursed for a long time with some poor decision makers and i would like the lot to be rid of.

I have read WGS's book and I cant recall him saying that he was vetoed in his spending. The salary cap must have been a hindrance, Im sure HR was not impressed by it.

So you have summed up the problem we faced. The players on the books were on too good contracts and nobody wanted them. This was following on from Jones, Hoddle and a very short tenure of Gray. Who was culpable? RL was the CEO and should shoulder some of the blame but all the managers need to take some as well. WGS didd not invest in quality but liked the energy and enthusiasm of players like Ormerod and Telfer. I think you can dissect every club and point the finger, it just is that we are in a dire position and so it is more pertinent at present.

I think what you say is fair. The problem seems to be that we had a squad that was too full of mediocre players who were on big bucks. The CEO I assume is expected to back the manager and so bought them. If he set ceilings for wages then that would have cut the choice on offer. It is hard toargue against budgetting the books though.I know it hurts us and so we should have ploughed on and overspent but sooner or later the chicken comes home to roost... although its taking a damned long time to come hoke at Pompey sadly
