Pompey cranking it up.I wonder if the local police will be arresting fans for the abuse they give out to ND.

WGS has a wonderful gift of motivating players as well as him getting sides fit. I didnt like many of his signings especially in his latter days with us.I still would haqve him back like a shot. Jones is probably the best judge of a footballer we have had for a log time and Hoddle had the benifit twice of organising the squads he left
-
Whats unfair? I and all on here I suspect would jump at the chance to have WGS back. It was just during convesation that it occured to us how thin in qua;lity the squad was and that WGS did leave a few duffers
-
I think you will find he was bought just before WGS came to us and so that is why he said it was a Cooper signing. Phillips was a classy player and I cant fathem why he didnt settle. His wife did of course
-
well Im a PR plant and so there must be an ulterior motive mustn't there.Lol
-
agree with that but when you se what squad we were left with it was mediocre. Especially as we were the early victims of Ambramovic stealing Bridge away which was the catalyst of our spiral down IMO
-
I dont wish to seem critical of him, because if he was still here we would still be PL, but I was trying to rack my brains who he brought to the club and when the few names I could recall they werent that good. Killer Iam certain was bought pre WGS and of course as WGS said in his book it was RL who bought Niemi as he wasnt sure.
-
I was talking to another fan yesterday and we started talking about the heady days of WGS and post the cup final.I think a lot of WGS and loved his quips and getting the best out of ordinary players. We said about the money not being invested and then recalled that WGS bought McCann for 1.75m. We then tried to recall who else he bought that left us a decent squad. I can't think who else he brought to the club who turned out any good. Now of course RL/board may have something to do with that, but the real star players of the successful-relegation season were purchased before and after his tenure.ie Crouch, BT, Killer. Sorry I forgot Niemi. We were left with Telfers and McCanns. Iam not blaming WGS it is just something that occured when his name and the last good years came up in conversation.

Dont take it to heart. The majority respect and appreciate what you lot do. If you lot withdrew your labour the games/Northam would have to be closed, people who are wanting to get a trophy should remember that.

very much part of LM's crew.

this all so reminds me of David brent in the Office when the new lad arrived and knew a load more than he did and so kept coming back with bits about the Russian novelist.LOL -

Above HR?? considering what he did and he took training at Stoneham with the rest of the Pompey team and nothing happened i doubt anything would do so with RL> Anyway its not right to do so anyway. -
one sided and bigotted inside perspective??? though.

Ump you might not realise it but I DO respect what you say even though we do seem at different poles on things. In respect of the PA thing too many at the top have voiced that he was there and during the AGM Rl allowed Jones to say about it without correcting it.I doubt that Rl didnt know what he was to say either. The guy you talk about may have added to the rumours that i dont know but I again say that MC flying especially to meet a contact to resurrect the deal and other little pieces I dont wish to put up makes me believe. If RL had been the man in charge of the deal, would the fans have been so understanding and prepared to say 'He wasn't there.' or would it have been he was 'too greedy, and f####'d it up' My understanding was that the club dithered as 1 party didnt wish to lose their longstanding family ties to the club and another for other reasons. PA/agents couldnt be bothered to get embroiled in it, rightly expecting to be welcomed withopen arms. Now of course I may be wrong, but boy if the club have missed the biggest opportunity in our history they have done us a major disservice. The real truth may not come out for a long time, but until then it will take a lot for me to change my mind. As i said i heard from too many at the time and since from both sides of our board he was interested.
-
I can see what you are saying and from our standpoint it is correct, but from RL's I expect he is so single minded that he would see it as Jan not being quite up to it.I doubt he wouod ever see it as a resigning issue as manager get changed in all areas of industry and the CEO doesnt resign. In fact i dont recall a chairman ever resigning on the back of a bad managerial appointment. Some people are successful at some clubs not at others. You wishing for too much if you think RL will resign over the manager.
-
And whose purpose is that to serve then ? There are many scenarios I would think of for him to give that a go ahead, most to be wide of the mark I suspect but if RL wants it to be commonly known it will be for a reason.
-
I respect your opinion UMp but I have heard that he was from too many close to the deal to agree with you.Your scoffing (although not as scathing as normal, you're going soft mate) will serve the old board well. they came away unscathed and to my surprise it dissapted without a whimper.I put it down to us Saints fans always expecting to be let down.
-
No it doesnt.just because the paper says we might doesnt mean QED at all. RL may well keep the banks onside. The revenue i assume has been paid up and so we have a chance.players may well be sold and we may be softened up for the sale of KD.i personally would rather AS or AL be sold ahead of him at this time, but players will be sold now to save us 10 points or sold for a snip when we do into admin as well as getting 10 points. The much vaunted Wilde bunch, who I argued against but was sneered at by many, including our more depressing/critical fans on here, got us nowhere and subsequent suitors were all talk as well. Many also pour scorn on the fact that the former people who ran the club after RL was ousted lost the opportunity of the clubs BIGGEST opportunity in our history. LC,LM a respected financial journalist (not connected with football), Sky sports, Jones and people from RL's camp all confirmed that indeed PA was there. Mary Corbett even got on a plane to visit a friend who knew him to try and resurrect the deal. Now if we were to have fans causing mayhem that was the time when the clubs biigest **** up happened, the relegation pales into insignificence compared to that. Again people will scoff but I have heard too much from too many people who knew about the deal/things going on to disbelieve.i said at the time that it was in the boards interest to put a smokescreen up as the fans would never forgive them, for once they did a bloody good job because many on here shout the idea down and so it gets washed over. By the way Lowe out as he has kept jan.

One of the tyre kickers actually stumping up the cash.

It may be to try and shake a buyer out of the woodwork.

The bickering whether he is a friend is pretty pathetic when the underlying message is far more important to me. Administration is banded about as such a non event and it will make the club change hands. If you want people who are waiting for us to go into administration before taing us on, then you are foolish beyond belief. I as a fan would move heaven and high water to buy the club and keep us from the uncertainty of -10 and almost certain relegation if I had the means to do so. RL etc is no angel but I dont want to see another set of 'carpet baggers' rolling up to pick at the bones of the club. All those fighting with stewards and the ones holding up banners have seen nothing compared to people who will take every penny in fees they can and live off the clubs back as long as they can before selling us to the next purchaser, who will be left with what. The whole rotten bunch at the club need cleaning out lock stock and barrel, but not through Administration. The only people hurt then would be staff and fans, not the greedy hangers on who have supped at the pool for decades.

You obviously have heard we are playing behind closed doors friday agaainst a foreign team Upest Dozier or something like that

A new poster always breeds suspiction at these emotional times.I also am sceptical of your posts even though it is nice to see your recognition. A vey eloquent post and from what I can assertain is that you may well be close to 'Rupert' at least as a aquaintance. I have been a long standing supporter of the 'idea' of beingfinanciallly prudent and some of the posters on here confuse that with downright support. This is not the case and as I have stated elsewhere RL is making a massive mistake not riding us of the very nice person Jan. this comimng from somebody who took tremendous abuse after supporting HR and GB and wanting them not to be sacked. So perhaps you can see this is a major jump for me ,and I can see the disaster unfolding in front of our eyes as this is left to drift. Mr Lowe should be aware if fans of the club who have gone along with many unsavoury decisions and being understanding to now becoming anti then things are going to spiral down very quickly.
-
Alpine posters like FC put their heart and soul into their posts and givew insights into how they feel.I cannot ever recall you making a post that really shows your love or affection of our club.In the main they are just negative snipes without showing any emotion or construtive plan. Do not take this too personally as it is an observation against an attack/snipe at a poster who tries to be even handed.

Talking as a PR plant of course, I support the club as I myself see the best way forward for the clubs longterm health.RL's financial decisions from where |i stand has kept us SO FAR from administration. In turn that has earned us 10+ points. All that being said i have stated that if RL kept the reckless appopintment of Jan at the top I would then become vocal against RL's tenure on that alone. If Jan leaves then I will still support the financial prudence. To me keeping a bad manager is not financial prudence and so on that issue RL is making a foolish error similar to the one with Wigley. I reserve my right to supprt any chairman who is showing responsible stewardship whether it be RL, LC or Alpine Saint.
