  1. Well the powers to regulate the financial system was taken away when Labour came into power. It was then left as a self regulatory system for the FSA.
  2. Gregory and Deacon put a lot more into the club than the crowd we have of course.
  3. Iam with you and very critical of RL due to the fact.I keep getting positives from people(at the club who are close to what is happening) about Wotte since he has taken over and whilst my positves have yet to be rewarded i can sense that there are some good things happening behind the scenes.I know the results havent shown that yet.
  4. i was careful not to put you in that bracket Ump because that is not what I put you down as.
  5. Lol, no I dont think MLT was playing for us then. I do realise you were being just a ad pedantic you old tease you.I of course meant we have been in holes before and got out of worse ones than now.
  6. But they are only prohetic if it comes to pass.Do you not agree with the folly of sayong we are relegated already with 14 games to go? To me that is defeatis to the highest degree. as for the doom mongers, some I have the greatest respect for as they were at least seeing it from an even prospective while some are doom mongers for doom monger sake. it was fairly evident that if yuo took the risk the club did things may turn out bad, it was a case of giving it a chnace to fail before being completely down on it
  7. i dont know how long you have followed saints but in my time i have seen us in many worse states than now.I agree we haven't got a MLT but a flukey win will change things for us.The pressure by us winning a couple would put pressure on thise above. In fact our worse time would be if we get 4 points above as we would crumble if the pressure from below us.Charlton have won and are catching us, and so we are not the only ones looking rt o drag our way out of this mess.
  8. Thanks for that, Id have hated to have to come on and apologise for getting it wrong
  9. Interestingly Pompey went into terminal decline then as well.
  10. Alps we have 42 points to play for and 5 adrift. If we were 5 points clear and knew that the team below us had 14 games to play would you realistically believe we were safe. Defeatism on here is all around, its like France 1940.
  11. That was 1 I was alluding to.
  12. I myself will blame RL for keeping Jan too long. There again if the fans turn on the club when we still have ample time to stay up they will not be above some blame.
  13. LTC, you know I have no problem with any fan on here. Many do not take to my manner but if we all met up I suspect we'd all get on fine as we ALL are Saints fans.I know my faults, Im dismissive and can be cutting.i like banter and like to give back as much if not more than i get. 1 thing unites us all is SFC, at the same time it divides us all. My mindset is that however little my shouts of encouragment help even if it is misicule i am adding a positive. SRS thinks that singing anti RL vitriol doesnt make a difference to the players, I firmly believe it does as the whole crowd is feeling negative and that transmits to the players.I doubt they look forward to playing at SMS as they must feel the pressure of the fans needs. It is not blaming the fans it is a case of adding more pressure on their shoulders.Having a more experienced team will help and a home win will open the floodgates to a decnt run IMO. We cant wait much longer for that to happen, but when it does it will be magical.
  14. I would not normally wish to have a Pompey fan on this board ,but as you have given your thoughts in not a provocative way i will applaud your post. I recall watching Pompey in the 70's/80's /90's in the lower leagues and admiring the poor souls turning up game after game to watch that shower. The tables have turned, i would like to be in the Pl still, but to watch a load of footballers who in the main cant pass a ball 10 yards and on 35k+ a week would wind me up. The fans around me are the proper fans who in the main will still be there in L1.They all work and live for a saturday afternoon and whilst resent RL in general understand that he is not all bad.I go to have some entertainment and if we had won 2 or 3 more home games i would be happy with my lot. Another 6-9 points at this time and the anti RL posts would be reduced by 70% on here.i can say that because when we were on an alright run earlier in the season the same old negative fans were not on here day after day peddling their negativity. I dont apologise for trying to be upbeat, as that is how i deal with my disappointment a couple of days after a game.I know the players are now firmly behind the manger and that there is good morale, that tactics and motivation is being instilled again and so perhaps that is why Im not quite as desperate at present.
  15. You are normally right about facts etc but are you 100% sure we were in the bottom 3 when HR arrived as i thought we were just above, as i say you are probably right on that though
  16. i believe that Wigley was a mistake BUT to be fair, he was told by medical people that Killer would be back.We suffered from players like BT and Phillips having long injury lay offs, I recall at Everton we had to play 2 17year olds up front. We were seconds away from winning at Highbury and it was only a wonderful goal from Van Persie that stopped us (although my experience of saints at Arsenal is that the ref will play until they get a result) and in the crucial home game with WBA Niemi was injured and we played a keeper who made 2 terrible mistakes to allow us only a draw.A win at Arsenal would have kept us up and so would have a win at home to WBA. I dont think there is an innocent in all parties involved in the relegation season, it is just convienient to blame RL
  17. Can you tell me when a protest by fans has made a chairman step down.I cant recall any, managers yes not chairman. We have a fragmented fanbase and a fragmented crowd whose support is diluted by standing on 2 sides next to the away fans. we must have the worst scenario where our team have the singing fans in 2 small wedges. The best campaign would be to have the Northam and Itchen singing fans to relocate to the centre of the Chapel. To have a Milton road of the 70's sucking the ball into the net, an end that the team could really attack and have the opposition fearing/not enjoying to play behind. It is something the club has lost, a proper end to kick to.The Itchen and Northam do their best but are up against the away supporters and so our support is nullified to a degree.
  18. The Leeds fans support was superb and we had threads on S4E commenting on it. Just do as you wish my words mean nothing and you will do as you wish anyway. i myself believe that every little fraction we can help will do us all good in the longrun. The demonstrations will not get the removal of RL but perhaps hasten our relegation. fans will be fighting fans again and whilst many dont care about that , each time it happens that stops another tranche of fans going to games.the scenes at the Doncaster game definately stopped some frans bringing thier wives and children to games. I personally know of 2 sets of people who will not go to games while there is a threa of fans doing what they did against Doncaster.
  19. Its true but having fans on your back will only make things worse IMO
  20. We hit the post twice. I wasnt at the game but have seen the highlights and on the ballance of those a draw would have been fair. The penalty was soft but Rudi did hold his shirt, although we had a good handball shout in the second half which waqs not given. The tv did not show BC's first goal, he did look offside to me.We were in with a shout of getting something until their second
  21. You are wrong thereStu , up to the last seconds we were in there for a point
  22. That i think is unfair. I agree with you on many of your other points sepecially the 'in the trenches' spirit.
  23. Perhaps definately was the wrong word.Unhelpful and counter productive. I have said that the support has been good and that we have yet to be repaid. Put it another way, if we were going to play away at another club and knew the fans would be up against their own board and ready to turn against the team at any moment we would be rubbing our hands.
  24. That is not fair Dunc, you mentioned the reason Moyes didnt come was because he wished for his own backroom staff nothing to do with salary.
