Ted Heath along with Wilson were 2 of the biggest disasters as Prime Ministers in recent history until you come to the current lot. Thatcher was the reason we had the good times and so I dont agree there. Lamonts Black Monday was an embarrassment and terrible misjudgement and the City again were ready to make a fortune as well as people overseas.A lot of that was being tied to the Mark. Our European allies were supposed to support us but they melted away.In a funny way it did help kick start the economy again as we had a devaluation and so we started to export again, but I agree it was a mistake of bad proportions. I notice figures about our borrowing, my understanding is that there is much that is not shown as the PFI etc does not get put under those figures.

Ho at present you can make those claims along with the ones we had about the railway yard was being cleared for the stadium and the training facilities etc. When the people come in then fair play you can brag again.Even you must feel a tad worried as getting millionaires to part with money is not easy in these timeswhere banks are going skint. So I expect some of what you say is a front to keep your spirits up, forget not we had PA in the frame and that went t''' up and so dont be too complacent. Look how things can so easily gowrong, you cannot even get youyr £5 paid up and things go haywire.

I think it could be due to the fact we have a large area where we were the only PL club and so got those people interested years ago and htey still come.

i dont wish to make excuses for the Iwont go while RL is here but for a lot of others at present the cost of living and job status is very pertinent.

Thanks JFP for clearing that up I now feel rightly told off

and I think DMG is Irish?

Oh I apologise then, after all I should expect to be insulted as a matter of course.

I agree and had Norwich scored things could have been different. They didnt and we won with a swagger and it was exciting stuff. It was good to see the players come to the Northam and show their appreciaition and exctiement thay had won.To me they have a great bond and that is a great thing to get a winning team longterm.Stay up and we've had a great season.

No but trying to make a balanced post to point out that the defence was not perfect.Because you may be so thick that you cannot see it, is not my problem.I suppose you were one of the fools who have slated KD for 2 seasons.

Alpine I dont believe its any different than a poster after a defeat come on and find negatives to annoy fans who have spent their time and money going to watch a game. They are upset as it is by the result and then dont need to have some point out the bleeding obvious or pick away at the fans moral even more. Yes we may have to sell in january, we all knew that so why do fans point it out agian when we are still trying to enjoy the moment. The fans being demoralised by fans spouting negatives on all the forums does make a diference because these fans go out to the pubs and clubs and spread the word good and bad. A good feel and that spreads and may just get a few others go to the games.

its good to see it working. If it is working I think we should keep the back 4 as it is and see if they really can bed in and improve.I understand KD did make a couple of great saves but the first was down to our defenders playing football and getting caught on the ball,(although I thought it was a foul) it wasnt down to their attacking play.

I understand his sentiments, and perhaps thye were antagonistic but to be fair when we have a bad result a lot of the more negative fans put up many posts that are IMo antagonistic. It is a release for some of the original posters frustrations to be aired.

Did anyone else notice that we caught them offside numerous times. It shows to me that we have organisation and confidence to play offside. I thought Lancashire and Perry were comfortable together and the fullbacks getting better as they learn their trade , especially James who is not a natural full back. Well done play the Arsenal way of the 80's in defence and 2000's in attack.

Not much to add to the quotes already on here. I personally think we are being harsh on the full backs. Both Norwichs wingers were quick and skillful. It seemed to me that our wingers get doubled up on whereas James and Mills were exposed 1 on 1 on many occasions. The winger on loan from Pompey was fast and tricky and he created his chance beutifully and it was then you could see it all crashing down 0n us until the magnificent Davis pulled off his save.I was amazed that they took them both off, it made our job a lot easier. BWP is lacking real confidence and it was a shame that his fantastic shot hit the bar and not gone in.That would make al ot of difference to someone who is definately a confidence player. As for the song about robbing from the Skates, I know it is not an anti song to him but I m sure he is not impressed.

he was always a good keeper. Its just fans perception has changed. He came to us on the back of a load of Sunderland fans blaming him after they were relegated. His confidence was a bit low and yes he made a couple of clangers, but even then he was making saves to get us points. I hope now he will carry on how he has performed. Keep that phone switched off Kelvin

Arizona, you are right and I am sorry I put that, well the last bit especially

If the whole problem of banks afraid to loan to each other then adding inflation will not help the man in the street in fact it would draw them closer to losing their homes. So that will result in the unions demanding pay rises to keep up with inflation. The majority of the nation is helpless and have to watch and wait, the authorities should be getting the banks to tighten the credit card lending as the people are just extending the nations debts.the toxic costs of these debts will come home to roost as well as a lot of the people with these debts will sadly lose their jobs in the fall out from the current problems and so wont be able to pay back these incredibly expensive debts. What asset will the bank be able to take back from them, a second hand Ipod or tv a few pairs of trainers? It will hurt the economy to do so but sooner or later someone has to grasp the nettle. I beleive there will be a run on the pound and that will mean high inflation and that will bring the pain of the early 70's of the days of Harold Wilson funnily enough another Labour PM who thought he knew all the answers but couldnt see the signs of over spending and putting the nation in terrible debt.

I think the thread heading was unfortunate but it got the intended attention. Sky pick games that htey deem will be interesting and p erhaps crucial at the time they wish to screen it.At present it looks like a relegation 6 pointer and so they went fofr it.

If the banks go bust the mortgages will get paid to whoever picks the companies up. The assets are still there similar to Northern Rock the athorities take it on.Forget not that not all the morgages are defaulting and so it is only a percentage of the take,There are some good profits to be made for the banks left standing.

I understand your loyalty to this government BTF, but please do not insult my intelligence about a global problem. In fact you are doing yourself a great disservice because you are very very bright and shouldnt fall for that nonsense.it is not just the American sub prime market, that is just a smokescreen. We as a nation have borrowed and been alloewed to borrow for many things and gone well beyond our means. NO2 to Maybush is spot on the government has hidden so many of its borrowings with the PFI scheme that we dont know what TOXIC debt they have behind the scenes. Who was overseeing our own financial people lending 125% mortgages? The British balance book is far worse than the US's as they have products resources to sell wheras we have veryt little left.Go to a car boot sale and see all the tables filled with cheap plastic toys and Franklin mint plates etc and that is a microcosym of where our oil revenue wasted has been wasted for decades. The governemnt is supposed to be our custodians and this one has let you me and our children down.
-
and after they did it, they did what to stop the short trading happening again? Nothing, and just let them carry on the same way. it is negligence, but of course the government needed the taxes to come in on the back of all the madness going on.I sold my house 3 years ago to downscale price as I could see it was going to be a pack of cards to try and save a lot of my gain, I moved a year too soon I know. Now if I could see it and many of other people could why didnt the powers there to protect us. Of course it was just another cosy club where the governemnt who were running the economy on stamp duty , capital gains, vat etc could not get off the roundabout as they were worried about their ratings and how clever their financial prudence was . The bankers in the city were left to get on with just buying these toxic packages as it was a passport to 7 figure bonuses and they didnt care who got hurt as they are now insulated from the hurt. My daughters partner was made redundant yeaterday they have bought a house and are to be married next year. Im fairly bitter about all the people who should have reigned us back 2-3 years ago and just stood and watched and now are trying to blame world pressures not the fact that they should have stopped it. The oil going up and food prices have nothing to do with the credit crunch
-
I accept that, and happy to move on. I beleieve whoever is in charge of the club at present would have had to go down a similar route to keep us from administration. If you can come up with a plan that cuts the £100s of k losses a week and get some more quality players in I and no doubt the club would be delighted.

its amazing how a change of club can change things. Richard Wright was poor at WHU came to us and was very good he goes and joins Ipswich and he has made a series of howlers. Golakeeping is a real up and downer.
