Mike Jones - Saturday's ref to exagerate pitch invasion?
eelpie replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Key to all this imo is why did he shake hands with a Saints player before he turned to attend to the injured Wotton? Check this out on the match video. he would never have shaken hands if he had not blown for the end of the match. I believe this is proof that he ended the match prematurely. -
There surely can be no doubt that as a fan Leon Crouch has donated more of his own cash to the club than anyone else. For that alone he deserves appreciation. I thank him for that. But that is a different issue to his competence at directorial level. I think we should recognise the difference between the two. With this exception. After attempting to control costs with the ill-fated Gorman/Dodd episode (which even Lowe would not have opposed) he appointed Pearson as manager, which was a brilliant decision, alas. I do agree though that he should not be involved in the running of the club. We need a completely new start.

"If only Saints were as devastating in their finishing touches as Lowe." Quote from article.

Wotton injury - the referee nearly had blood on his hands
eelpie replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Before the whistle there were chants of 'On The pitch' from Northern, and crowds were already amassing off the pitch edge in front of the police and stewards. Fans were definitely at the edge when the whistle was (weakly) blown. No-one really knew if the whistle was for the injury or end of match. Supporters circumnavigated the police and came on to the pitch via the Kingsland corner. I could see very clearly. At that time the fans were out of order imo. -

The original St Mary's church team did not play in red and white. Just thought I'd mention that.

I'm sure I saw more than one skate being removed from the stand. And it could be that there was a feeling that the Burnley crowd was indeed swelled by skates come to gloat. For one thing, there were only four Burnley coaches, less than normal for a largish away crowd.
-
I'm sorry, if either Lowe or Askham surfaced inside a consortium that buys the club, I will simply lose interest. I cannot go through all that again until we are in the Conference.

The plastic bottle throwing definitely came from Saints fans first. From high up in Itchen North I could see everything. A few from the Northern were clearly intending to have a rumble with the Burnley lot (and the Skates there in disguise). Then the kids on the pitch ran up to swell the ranks. How pathetic too, to surround Wotton who was nearly in a life-threatening situation. All very juvenile, distasteful and it quite disgusted me. It really did make me feel I did not want to be a part of our once great community next season.

The ref was the poorest I've seen this year, which takes some beating. However, although I agree with yours and others' views on his weak performance, I think he may have inadvertently saved us from further fines. Because if the match had not ended but been stopped by the pitch invasion, might we not have been in very serious trouble with the FL? Correct me if I'm wrong. -
When Rupert walked out of the EXIT door.

That is how I saw it. I also saw him shake hands with one Saints player before turning to attend to our injured player. It was a feeble blow of his whistle. Just like his control during the match.
-
Fair enough at the end if we are losing by miles, but imho all chants should be positive today throughout the match. The same goes for all the negative (even though gallows-funny) chants on here. Let's be more positive during this game. It can make a difference

How about (Saints player) Give us a wave Repeated... One for EVERY Saints player on the pitch! When they come on Let them know we are for them!
-
Great news. But I hope we will not be saddled with an even greater and astronomical debt (ala Manure)
-
I'm also wearing my Allen Ball cap.
-
Give all our players a rousing cheer when their names are announced. Supportive chants too, aimed at EVERY Saints player on the pitch! In many ways this is one of the most important games of the season. Why should we not claim 6 points now and at Forest, statistically avoid relegation and put two fingers up to the FL and the rest of the football world. We are better than they think. Burnley will be overconfident. At our best we can beat anyone in the CCC. Let's finish on a buzz. Do it for Ted. Do it for Allen Ball. COYR!
-
Programmes have been sold out when I have tried to buy recently.
-
But the FL is beyond the law in their book.
-
Not as many as played for England before we went to SMS: Shilton, Channon, Paine, Shearer, Keagan, Ball, Osgood, Le Tiss etc Name the others.
-
A thought. Shouldn't SFC have charged the director of SLH rent for his office?
-
And concentrate our efforts on sueing Lowe/Wilde and/or Barclays for knowingly bringing the club into administration a few days after the March deadline.
-
Ah. Now I understand your posts at last, Stan
