Agreed. The issue I have is it’s not being used for clear and obvious errors, it’s being used for decisions that are still down to an officials opinion. This means there is still absolutely no consistency in decision making, which I thought VAR was meant to provide. Two very similar incidents get referred to VAR and you can get two different outcomes. That’s madness. So now we have the same issues as before, but with unnecessary lengthy breaks and sanitised celebrations.

Bit gutting as thought we might have had a chance to keep him, but realistically once Newcastle were in we had no chance. Anything near £40m would be fantastic business really - he was top quality for half a season, faded then done his ACL. Hope for his sake he fully recovers and kicks on, will be a top player.

So in the space of 24-48 hours, they have gone from “£25m is our final offer, we’re walking away” to “£30m, that’s it, no more”, to “probably make another bid” Glorious.

The only thing I would say is guaranteed is we will start poorly. 1) we always do 2) half the team won’t be here in September / transfers wont be finalised 3) we have been in such a poor run of form for years now, that wont get overturned overnight Would love to think we can do a Burnley from last year and when it all clicks, we look great.
