Don’t understand his mentality on subs. “They made us worse when they came on” - maybe make them earlier then Ralph, when they have a chance to make an impact and before the game has already turned. When you’ve let the game runaway from you and the momentum has changed it’s very difficult to get it back.

It’s been a decent window for finally ridding ourselves of deadwood. We’ve also probably get the best fees we possibly could for Ings and Vestergaard. However, in my opinion we had three main areas that we needed strong signings in to improve the spine and help correct last seasons issues - GK, CB and DM. As it stands, we won’t be improving on any of those positions. Arguably, we are probably going to be worse off at CB - I’ve never been JV’s biggest fan and was happy for him to go, but genuinely thought we’d invest properly there, which it looks like we aren’t. Really struggle to understand how the manager and the board cannot see that those were the most important positions to improve this summer. Over 60 goals a season conceded last 2 years - we concede less, we’ll win more games. Simple as that really.

True, but it won’t be tomorrow.

Can he defend though? Call me old fashioned, but as a centre back (particularly in Ralph’s kamikaze system), being able to actually defend is rather important.
-
Maybe we’ve gone cheaper for the CB to help fund a move for that Thierry Small chap (rumoured to be £5m). A lot of hopes being pinned on this guy, let’s hope he is our rock… if he’s not, we’re fcked.

Hmmm, not exactly an inspiring signing. This is arguably the most pivotal signing of our season, we’ve got to get it right. Guess we’ll see how it pans out, but immediate thoughts are it seems the budget option.

Emile Smith Rowe and JWP both heavily linked to Villa, submitted various ‘bids’ for both, both signed new deals at their respective clubs. Seems Villa have been used a bit.

He’s a complete bullshitter.

File that in the bin then.

Anyone reputable on Twitter? Would be an interesting one

Luke Shaw.

£75m on Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale, let that sink in..

Fulham supporting friend of mine said of Tosin; “Erm I like him, but I'd say he's better alongside a good centre back partner. So for us he looked good alongside Anderson. But less so if Anderson injured and he had to be partnered by someone not as good. Anderson is the one you should have gone for.”

Wish I’d seen this before I’d read it. An accurate summary, in a lot less words. They (Athletic/Sheldon) really don’t have a clue. Lots of guess work, I miss Carl.

That’s what I’d be going for. Shows how weak we are at 10

I thought you could hear him shout “away” on MOTD - if in doubt Salisu should attempt to deal with it anyway, but any good GK would have come and tried to do something. Even if it was just to try and put off Richarlison.

Forster, KWP, Salisu, New Cb, Perraud, Romeu, JWP, Armstrong, Tella, Adams, Armstrong

Hmm, it’s all well and good saying it in post match interviews, but where’s the leadership on the pitch? He’s as guilty as the rest. “We caused them all sorts of problems but that first goal killed us and we gave them the hope to get something from the game.” He’s basically saying here that once we conceded the first goal we knew we were going to collapse. That’s not good enough - manager needs to take the majority of the blame but seriously, as a player how weak is that?
-
I can only remember three times they didn’t - 2x 1-1 (Poch last game and Vestergaard header) and the Beattie winner in 03-04. So I’m going to say 13? Must be at least 6 of those they came from behind to win?
-
Does seem a bit pointless this one. Even when we’ve played well against them at home in recent years, we’ve still managed to lose. Now we’re shite and they haven’t lost an away game since 1978, Unless we miraculously buy a GK, CB and a DM in the next week, we will get dicked.
-
We still cannot hold a lead We still don’t have an adequate GK We still have a defence that makes too many mistakes We still can only play for 45 mins Our manager doesn’t make subs We still can’t adjust when a team makes tactical changes We still have no backbone We still have no leadership We still have no plan B We are going to end up going into the season short in at least one position, again. Three months to change this, yet just another continuation of last year. Hard to see anything other than our 2021 form continuing for the foreseeable.

The time to change it was in our terrible run last year. He didn’t, so here we are again, same shite different day. He has to go.
