  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H4sWNPUGNc Stick with it. You'll find it is an absolute homage to that particular moment from Only Fools and Horses
  2. I say string 'em up and leave them to rot on the gallows. That's what I would have done to that b*****d Hodgson who murdered poor Teresa de Simone back in 1979 in Southampton................. Oh http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=450939
  3. I may only be a mere Professor of History rather than a professional golfer, but surely blaming the balls is like a bad workman blaming his tools. After all, the balls are the same for everyone who goes to Hedge End. Also, it strikes me as very 'convenient' that you claim to be a pro golf player but don't play in Hampshire, where I imagine most of the posters on this forum who also happen to be golfers, happen to play. This means that they will never come across you when they're playing. as I say, this strikes me as very convenient if you really are, indeed, as good a golfer as you claim.
  4. Oh. We call it the University of Woe (West of England). I'm sure that at that august institution, 94% is regarded as a rather low attainment.
  5. I take exception to these lies. I am a Professor of History at the University of Bristol. I have just been through the averages for each cohort over the last five years and the highest score anyone averaged was 93%! So, unless 'Bizzle' (if that really is his name) graduated more than five years ago, he must be lying. He could well be a muslim and gay, as such people are readily accepted at our institution. However, we do not accept people who are thick enough to hold misogynistic views (the 93% was scored by a woman!!!) so I doubt whether he even did attend Bristol. We do have a TK Maxx in the city, so he could well be telling the truth about his satorial taste....
  6. So I'm given to understand.
  7. A cross between Brazil circa 1970 and Wimbledon circa 1988.
  8. I know this is resurecting a thread from ages ago, but just to set the record (a bit) straight(er), the BBC's R4 programme More or Less looked at this video and started to debunk and pick apart some of the claims in the original video. This is their rejoinder (just over 9 minutes): and here is a link to the programme itself, where you can find much more information, if you so wish: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/more_or_less/default.stm
  9. SRS' raison d’être is how much money he can earn. On Maslow's hierarchy of needs, he right there at the bottom, making sure he has food and a roof over his head. Self-actualisation? Pah....
  10. +1. From them we get: The Torygraph (nuff said) The Daily Hate The Indescribably Boring The Grauniad The News of the Screws etc, etc Oh, I also read the Times Higher when I can be bothered.
  11. I gave this a lot of thought over the weekend. I have to say that the more I think about it the more obvious it becomes - Tommy Widdrington has to be the man. Granted, he isn't the obvious choice, but when you think about it, all the pieces just fit together.
  12. My mind is made up. I think it HAS to be Widdrington.
  13. Some selective facts, a smattering of fiction and some dangerous drivel. Talking of facts, here are the ONS stats, as reported in a nice, easily digested article by the BBC. Apart from the prdominantly Muslim states (Albania, Bosnia, Turkey and Macedonia to some extent) most countries have a very small Muslim population - less than 5% for most and under 3% for the UK. The only country which might think about getting hot under the collar about this might be France, based on these statistics. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4385768.stm Interesting that they equate 'culture' with 'religion'. Muslim societies are as diverse and complex as Christian societies. And in any case, who cares? (Well, Christians do, I'll grant you that). Seems to me that we would be just swapping one hegemony for another.
  14. You idiot. Everyone knows it's Bamako. Oh, and people who don't know how to use an apostrophe properly, or don't use them at all.
  15. I'll make sure to get in a nice dish of Khinkali, all washed down with good, Georgian wine. Happy St George's day - patron saint of numerous countries and cities.
  16. Over Easter, we went down to Dorset and I started The French Lieutenant's Woman. I have always avoided it in the past because of the film (although I really enjoyed other Fowles novels). I'm half-way through and have to say that it is really superb - mutli-layered, yet accessible.
  17. My mother bought these for my 3-year-old son this Easter. Harry and the Robots brought a tear to the eye.
  18. On reflection, it seems to me that there is a pretty good case for Tommy Widdrington. We could at least give him a go. Who knows, we may find ourselves a real miracle worker...
  19. Heaven knows I'm Miserable Now
  20. How do you know it was a minority. For all you know, most people thought it was crap. Perhaps it was you in the minority.
  21. Blah blah blah political correctness gone mad blah blah blah so much better in the good old bad old days blah blah blah
  22. I totally disagree with Didcot. He was awful last night.
  23. What a fool (insert rolling eye emoticon here)
  24. I read a few of the posts on a couple of occasions and came away feeling dirty. I think anyone who had glanced at it would be aware that racism and bigotry abounded. Oh, and to answer INS/Crouchie () I would suggest you book in advance for the Thermae Spa. When I walk past, there are occasionally queues outside but not too great, it would seem, but then I have never been. I feel I have already spent enough money (through my council tax) subsidising the construction of the thing (it was horrendously over budget and late). According to my Mrs (who has been several times), one of the best experiences there is to go to the roof pool at night.
  25. Goodbye and good riddance to that place, imo. The only thing it had in its favour was that it kept all the racists and bigots in one place where they could vent their spleen and where I didn't have to read it.
