  5. I see Palace have had an initial bid of £12m rejected for Emi Buendia from Norwich (which seems low for a chap who created the 3rd most chances in the league?) (Including his seven assists, Buendia has created 81 chances this term, putting him ahead of the likes of James Maddison, Riyad Mahrez and Mohamed Salah) Norwich City have set the benchmark for any deal involving their young players at the same price they received for James Maddison from Leicester City in 2018 - believed to be in excess of £20million (British Tax and a different time in the world) would love him at the club - wonder if £15/18m would get him?
  6. West Ham or Palace odds on Maybe Villa is Smith gets the boot OR Shock - back to Burnley if Dyche leaves Everton have Carlo - so that's out of the picture
  7. Snap 😉 totally agree - they are many ManU fans than Saints fan thus Ole will win it
  8. Guardiola, Hasenhuttl, Mourinho, Moyes and Solskjaer battle it out for the final monthly prize of 2019/20 https://www.premierleague.com/news/1744271?fbclid=IwAR1-6wyCKXVmzQLZu9coLaIh9nV1A6-WzB1etYmOA8SClJlYwN6foIY9seQ Five men who enjoyed strong finishes to the season in July have been nominated for the Barclays Manager of the Month award. Pep Guardiola, Ralph Hasenhuttl, Jose Mourinho, David Moyes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are all in contention for the prize. Voting closes at 18:00 BST on Friday 31 July and the public vote will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner.
  9. Southampton have agreed terms with Las Palmas on the fee of left-back Jeremi Rodriguez (£400,000). The 17-year-old flew to Southampton yesterday, so his arrival at the club should soon be announced officially.
  10. I think our problem would be Price and Wages - we tend to buy at £5-15m going up to £20m at a push and wages from £25k-75k these mean alot of clubs & players are not going to think Saints. to quote myself
  11. not all players are just brilliant or awful could be down to confidence, injuries, internal politics, different manager, different system The fact that we were after him before means that that we rate him to fit in with our system / management etc.
  12. would prefer Lerma over Billing
  13. bravo 👏
  14. I believe Man City can buy him back for £25/30m - first refusal
  15. Hearing that this is a done deal now €12m - 4 year contract
  16. Lerma for me he is physical, quick, sly and all action - breaks up play and counter attacks - exactly what we need
  17. forgot about that - thought they had brought him
  18. I said in the relegated teams - buendia or Cantwell from Norwich (cant see them selling both tbh) - I have heard on the grapevine / gossip that Cantwell is off to a top 6 team (pool or utd) and buendia is off to Leeds (Argie connection ) Cant see Brooks coming to us either - i would have thought a bigger team would buy him or Bournemouth will keep him even if they go down King I love - works hard a better version of Long (works the channels, frees up space for Wilson) as he actually scores sometimes Harry Wilson from Bournemouth should be worth a view but the number 1 choice from Bournemouth for me is Jefferson Lerma - exactly what we need, dynamic, cynical, middle of the park DCM breaking up play (as he does to us ever time we play them!)
  19. I agree with the price but wouldn't want Mings at Saints - terrible defender and snide / nasty to boot (pun not intended!)
  20. ARISE MY PRETTY - ARISE 😃 Time to resurrect the thread once more Please have re-read of the thread - Some of the opinions on here are hilarious from years past 7 games to go So it could be 3 from these: Norwich Aston Villa Bournemouth West Ham Watford Brighton Time to pillage the relegated teams of their best & brightest So who would you be interested in Saints buying? (within our wage structure) 😬 My Choices are listed below 😎 I have highlighted the player from each team I think would fit into Ralph's / our teams setup and we could afford (Fee and Wages) Norwich https://www.canaries.co.uk/first-team-squad/first-team/ Max Arrons - FB Ben Godfrey - CB Jamel Lewis - FB Todd Cantwell - ACM (I am sure he will be off to a TOP 6 Club tbh) 😔 Emiliano Buendia - ACM Teemu Pukki - CF Villa https://www.avfc.co.uk/teams/first-team John McGinn - CM Jack Grealish - CM (I am sure he will be off to a TOP 6 Club tbh) Mwamba Samatta - CF Bournemouth https://www.afcb.co.uk/teams/first-team/ Aaron Ramsdale - GK Nathan Ake - CB - (I am sure he will be off to a TOP 6 Club tbh) Chris Mepham - CB Jefferson Lerma - DCM (exactly what we need as a Defensive CM as a platform for the team) Philip Billing - DCM David Brooks - ACM (I am sure he will be off to a TOP 6 Club tbh) Harry Wilson - ACM Josh King - CF Callum Wilson - CF (I totally understand we have no chance at Wilson. King, Ake, Brooks or Wilson due to wages!) West Ham https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad Luckaz Fabinski - GK Ryan Fredricks - FB Angelo Ogbonna - CB Declan Rice - DCM (I am sure he will be off to a TOP 6 Club tbh) Sebastian Haller - CF (no chance with wages 😔) Watford https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/watford-first-team/players Abdulaya Doucoure - DCM - ( no chance) Nathaniel Chalobah - ACM Danny Welbeck - CF (always injured - wages) Andre Gray - CF Ismalia Sarr - CF Issac Success - CF Christian Kabasele - CB Roberto Peyera - ACM again no chance Brighton https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/teams/mens-team Mat Ryan - GK Shane Duffy - CB Lewis Dunk - CB Yves Bissouma - DCM Leandro Trossard - ACM Neal Maupay - CF phew!! Obviously there is a lot I have suggested that we wouldn't have a chance at due to wages / bigger clubs in for them etc. But food for thought
  21. This is Bang On Have no understanding of why Newcastle is being held up as an example? They are reasons why he sales never go through as similar to Gold and Sullivan they pay themselves interest off the loans they have made to the club without having any on the loans paid back (thus when the club is sold they will then get those loans paid back) - Also Ashley has sold off land the Toon owned to his other companies (similar to what G&S @ WestHam did with the old Upton Park (sold for a tiny amount to a development firm (owned by G&S) who now are building flats to profit)) Regarding advertising - i believe The Toon receives nothing for the advertising os Sports Direct at St James Park and any future deals include SD staying as the sponsor of the ground. Ashley has also always wanted a share 10/20% of the club even if sold. The investment in their facilities is nonexistent I am not saying Gao is great (quite the opposite) but to class him as the worst owner is just not correct - there are many more worst owners. Unfortunately for all us fans - football these days is business or a plaything Can't wait for him to go but no one is buying Newcastle with Ashley at the helm
  22. I think Clasie is a great player - just didn't happen for him with us - injuries and in and out of the team which is a hard thing for any player - he is / was 'a ticker' a player that's keep the ball moving and passes well - (like a carrick etc.) Sometimes people expect different things to what the player is. Think we would have seen him beginning to run games or help run games if Koeman had stayed
  23. we spent £18 million on wages? or on a transfer fee
