  1. Its fixed! It was all my fault. Got a mate round to look at them both before i spent any money getting them looked at. I hadn't put the spacer nuts on either of the comps so the MOBO's were shorting against the case. So it has been blind luck that all the comps ive built over the years have worked fine without them, apparently, but yesterday the gods of short circuiting came down and punched me in the balls. I felt like a rite tool! But hey, my monster comp is ALIIIVE!
  2. Any advice is good advice mate! It has given me a bit of a shock as I considered my self a bit of a know it all before this happened, but I knew when to quit and stopped fiddling with it a long time ago. £70 quid for a replacement mobo is something I really don't wanna have to spend to hopefully taking it to an expert will make it feel better!
  3. Nooo my mates mobo isnt fooked, got that to boot up eventually after sourcing another PSU (which I also tested in mine). So I have one working comp that needs an OS putting on it, no problem there, its just my beast that has all but died on me when i've got tonnes of work to do. I'll go looking for an independent computer store tomorrow probably :/
  4. Yea I put his replacement PSU in my comp and it still wouldnt boot, did the same thing (turning on but not properly). To be honest I do think the MOBO could be knackered which is CRAZY because its 4 months old, and all I did was un plug and re plug a few wires in! Really really frustrating.
  5. Ello, one for the techys amoung you. Just built a new PC for a mate, the power supply I bought for him was a dudd, I found this out by taking my power supply out and trying it in the new system, which booted up as I expected. I put the PSU back in my system and the system has all the symptoms of no 12v CPU power plug in (the 4 pin cpu power thingy, you know what i mean!). I tried another power supply and get the same result (the comp turns on, all fans bells and whistles, but no screen output and the cd drive wont power up, this tells me that the 12v cpu plug isnt working). Anyone got any idea what I might be doing wrong before I declare the motherboard dead and try to get a new one out of ASUS? Ive checked and double checked that I've got everything plugged in where it should be but no joy. Got a tonne of work to do and its not ganna get done on this ****ty laptop!!
  6. I was talking about a physical or mental addiction, similar to the human relationship with alcohol or drug abuse. To be honest I was being pedantic, I recently wrote a four thousand word essay on the subject and I can tell you that there is very little in the way of actual research that ties gaming to addiction in the same way as aforementioned vices. I'm not saying that gaming ISN'T addictive, just that there is little empirical evidence that proves that it is.
  7. Point me in the direction of research that proves that gaming is "addictive" and I will agree with you.
  8. No lost ground so not the end of the world. Feels like a massive missed opportunity however!
  9. What happened to the guy that usually watches the pompey games for solent? Not that I care, the guy sounded like a rite pikey, just wondered why they had replaced him.
  10. I was sposed to be going to the game. Decided that beating Halo Reach on legendary difficulty would be a good substitute. 5 hours in and my hands hurt. Better get back to it...
  11. well at least i live fairly local and hadn't travelled anywhere. Still, thats my weekend that i was looking forward too ruined. I'll keep the ticket and go to the new date but **** me, it barely rained here in huddersfield. Can't believe the game is off. I hate league one.
  12. Every controller i've had since the N64 has suffered and ended up in the bin eventually. If you play a lot, and it sounds like you do, its just something you gotta live with! Saying that, my Gamecube controller was a beast and never went loose or came apart.
  13. Do you have any idea how condescending and stuck up the pair of you sound? I'm glad not all Saints fans are like you two, if they were we'd be well and truly ****ed. Only high earners and big shot C**TS like you two would be allowed to buy tickets, and everyone would have to sing the songs you choose. Do us all a favour and keep your arsehole opinions to your selves as they clearly aren't welcome with the majority. What a pair of idiots.
  14. Tickets now online, just bought mine using the online service. Bring it on!
  15. You can expect two new shirts next season, Cortese has hinted at getting a new shirts sponsor on previously so new shirts are part and parcel of that.
  16. Yerp was given the same advice earlier. Why we didn't get tickets for this earlier I really don't know, doesnt leave me with long to get them posted out if I get them tomorrow does it? :/
  17. So the only part of the ground that generates the slightest bit of noise, and as such generates an ok atmosphere, is full of morons who don't know a bloody thing... Buy a ticket for somewhere else next time you retard.
  18. Yea it is very impressive, me and my course mates were invited to a press release in Manchester last weekend and it really has to be seen to believed. Nintendo are going to struggle to market it on the back of that I reckon! Would love to get one but it is a bit pricey.
  19. No way man, he was dog poo awful!
  20. No shame at all! I ****ing love zelda too, and will even admit to buying the Wind Waker soundtrack, Soundtrack of my teenage years! (what a goon eh?) I recently started playing Twilight Princess on a gamecube emulator on PC (never got round to it back when it came out), it is fantastic! My Wii is down at my parents house so Skyward Sword will have to wait til' when im home for the summer and have no uni work to be getting on with.
  21. Your looking at 1 a day from a hen under 1 year old, after that it varies, never less than 2/3 a week though, unless it gets ill in which case you get **** all. The old dears like to tell people they havn't bought eggs from the supermarket for about 12 years. Why do I know so much about chickens? God I need to get a life.
  22. My familiy has kept chickens since I was a little'un. As far as i know the only time they are of any bother is when a fox gets in, when the bastards get red-mite, or you try to introduce a couple of new chickerys to the gang (they don't take well to new comers). You don't have to give them too much attention, because they are just birds and as such look after themselves to a large extent. You'll need something secure to put them in at night, easy enough if your a bit handy. If not i've seen people use these... Its called an eggloo, they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, get googling
  23. Fantastic interview, and its very, very rare that I can say that about a footballer, usually they are boring and full of cliché, but that was a damn good read. Can't believe how knowledgeable he is about football in general.
  24. Yep spot on, the whole away end was ROCKING for the whole game, fantastic.
  25. Deffo in my top 5 "I was there" goals is the JPS free kick at Watford. It was epic, mostly because it was a last minute type deal and I was smashed. Loved it.
