PaulSaint Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Just a horrible thought, what if Pinnacle pull out at the death & we get dumped into the Blue Square. Will the fans blame him? Always worshipped the man for saving us so many times but what if he's backed a consortium that almost finishes us off?
Bailey Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 My opinion of him won't change one bit. The guy is a Saints legend and he deserves our respect. If the worst did happen, I wouldn't hold it against him at all.
trousers Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 what if Pinnacle pull out at the death & we get dumped into the Blue Square. Will the fans blame him (Le Tissier)? No. (IMHO of course)

All I will think is that he's tried to save the club and the intransigence of others prevented his attempt being successful.
saint_stevo Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 It's not his fault is it. He would probably be asked to front up another consortium anyway
OldNick Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 why should it, he will support anyone who takes over if it they save the club. I just hope he hasnt put in his resignation to Sky

saintstr1 Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Matt's reputation will remain firmly intact regardless of what happens with pinnacle , the man is a true legend and not at fault in any of this.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Just a horrible thought, what if Pinnacle pull out at the death & we get dumped into the Blue Square. Will the fans blame him? Always worshipped the man for saving us so many times but what if he's backed a consortium that almost finishes us off? I would like to think that MLT would consider the risk of delay far greater than the risk of not being able to appeal a 10 point penalty, assuming this is the reason. My guess he is as frustrated about not being able to get on with the real job and using funds to start building a new infrastructure than lining the pockets of some Lawyer's Saville Row Tailor. MLT's reputation IMO doesn't go on the line until we run out against Millwall, if we do. I hope if Pinnacle do implement their exit plan any new bidders look at MLT's potential as the Saints own Niall Quinn.

Evo Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 A rather refreshing idea this, but lets not stress about it unless it were to actually happen. It's a bit like worrying about what would happen if the stadium collapsed.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Changes nothing imo, if not Pinnacle then whoever else ends up owning the club should give MLT an honorary role or executive one for that matter if he feels able to contribute

Blandford saint Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 I feel sorry for Matt, because he could end up totally stuffed by this as well. He hasn't renewed his contract with SKY and he's probably turned down a stack of other lucrative work as well. He must be in turmoil like the rest us - it's not him or TL who makes the final decision.
St Lightjaw Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 I just hope he hasnt put in his resignation to Sky I just hope he didn't remortgage his house last month to pay for the exclusivity period. Anyway, I love the guy. Think he should only be flogged 50 times, and not the statutory 100 if the bid fails. IMHO of course.

trousers Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 If Pinnacle do fall at the last hurdle I would hope the successful bidder would install MLT in the same roll as one of their first deeds. They would be foolish not to play the fan unity card like Pinnacle have/did.

yellow&blue Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 I didn't blame him for his co-ownership of Celebration Plaza when that failed, and I would not blame him now. I just remind myself what a god he is by watching his Unbelievable DVD every now and again.
sun of spain Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 The man is a legend, and nothing that happens with this ongoing takeover saga will change that.
