david in sweden Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 Those of you who are under 40 won't know what I'm talking about but ..George Kirby, Joe Jordan are the " tough-a** spoilers, " I'm thinking of right now. Someone big and clumsy. Not afraid to go in head first and "disturb " the oppositions back-line. They create havoc in the box and make chances for others to pick up. Let's not use nice words like " skilful, or clever ", this is L1 and we need some brute force and ignorance. I don't mind if the guy only scores 10 all season - if he creates 20/30 for others to put away. (Hope you can find one Alan !)
dubai_phil Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 You want a big man up front I want a fit chick with big bazookas on top......:-) Which is another way of saying, yes, that's obvious, but the PROBLEM comes with actually finding one! I was actually thinking yesterday, where or who are the "wise old heads" or big lumps that CDAJFU. With our youngsters, lumpness is one thing, but as we keep hearing in the moans about Wotton, old heads need legs and a footballing brain. There aren't any gnarled old Martin Keon's around these days, looking back at the old England squads to '98, not many of them apart from a Gary Neville around, only one I could WORRYINGLY think of was Robbie Savage (and he's Welsh and a ***). Which leaves us hoping our big signing is Steve Howard...... Nice concept, but any ideas? (Footballers not chicks!)

shurlock Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 (edited) Adebayo Akinfenwa of Northampton Town should be lining up against us on Tues - a bit-injury prone but will give our defense a proper, proper test. Kicked lumps out of Danny Sh*ttu and Gary Cahill (no mean feat), scoring two goals to help knock out Bolton in last year's cup. shurlock Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 Wonder what happened to Cédric Baseya after he went back to France. For a while, he looked like he would be the perfect successor to Kenwyne Jones.

Chez Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 Patterson seemed to do more than enough spoiling yesterday. What's required is some pace to go with him.
converted_saint Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 i'd take steve howard but don't think pearson would let him leave leicester...after all, we didn't exactly do nigel any favours after he kept us in the champ against all odds season before last

Agreed, lost count of the amount of times he beat the CBs in the air WITHOUT jumping.

Didcot Saint Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 We already have one. Rasiak. So wtf are we selling him.
Cabrone Posted 9 August, 2009 Share Posted 9 August, 2009 He must be about a 100 by now Janker's almost 35 now so if he's kept himself in good nick he could still be OK for 1 or poss 2 seasons. Never rated him as an international but he could smash this league to bits. Can't ever see him coming here but a theoretical front line of him + Rasiak would be scary (for the opposition that is). However no matter how good a striker is he still needs service and our midfield do not look capable at the moment of giving decent service. Therefore I'd rather spend my cash on a good ball winning central midfielder + a good wide midfielder. Sort out the midfield and we already have strikers that can score!
