CLOTH EARS Posted 17 August, 2009 Share Posted 17 August, 2009 I have just watched AP's interview on Saints player and he said that we may have one, or possibly 2 players in before saturdays game with Brentford. He also said that there could be one or two going out before the window closes ( IMO probably Rasiak and Saga ). Interestingly for me he added that if and when we add these two players to the squad that those signings will probably be the last signings for a while. Maybe I am wrong, but something tells that he's disappointed with that. He said that he wants the fans to leave Swindon 'thinking' that was more like it! Another thing that jumped out at me was the fact that he said he was still awaiting for info on Swindon and that he said that this was 'unacceptable' he said that the scouting needs restructuring asap and he is working on that. I'd like to add that Pardew seems like a really honest guy who is frustrated with certain things at the moment. In my opinion if he is given the backing he WILL sort it out. The comment about not knowing about the opposition is rather odd. There are loads of out of work ex-managers who I'm sure would go and watch a game for petrol money plus a few quid. Pardew must have loads of mates he could get to go and see games (Kevin Dillon?). It doesn't need to be somebody actually employed by the club, FFS he could have given me a hundred quid and I'd have gone and watched Swindon on Saturday and reported back that they're not as good as Millwall or Huddersfield. AP does appear to be frustrated with things. Must be a bit of a nightmare trying to rebuild a club amid the beginning of a season with -10 points. Must be a bit of a nightmare trying to rebuild a club amid the beginning of a season with -10 points. We don't help much either! They tell us our scouting network has been obliterated by the Holiday Camp team. People on here demand we sign 8 players a day They tell us they need a Sporting Director to take some of the load off AP & NC. People on here go beserk I'm not surprised he's frustrated, there are basically 2 people on the playing side trying to change things AND cover about 10 jobs at the moment It's not JUST the playing side that needs a lot of work! Still he could have it a LOT worse, was reading our local rag today with McAffrey talking about John Barnes going to Tranmere... and becoming White Van man They now have a mini-bus that the Asst manager (Jason Macteer) drives to get the players to training! http://www.7days.ae/storydetails.php?id=82467&title=Top%20bosses%20may%20have%20to%20make%20their%20moves

Pilchards Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 Well said Dubai.... I reckon there is only one football man in that club and that's AP. I'm not surprised he wants a sporting director in to organise the team spy network and talent spotting network. I bet AP has other duties he is having to sort out as cortese is clearly learning the trade.

I think you are right about that .....At the Takeover stage, I think most people were led to believe that Funds would be made available for Team Rebuilding I'm not talking Mega Millions, but a reasonable amount for a Div 1 Team To date, only ONE major outlay has been made, ie Lambert (a good buy) Most Fans can see that quite a few more are needed to make us competitive in this League Getting Two players IN, at the expense of losing TWO (Rasiak & Saga ) is simply Status Quo ...... surely Nicola Cortese can see that ??? I'm sure that AP fully expected to have Funding for more players than it now seems We will STILL not be strong enough if that is the case .... for myself, at the start, I expected a transfer "kitty" of £5M to make us into a formidable Team

I'm sure that AP fully expected to have Funding for more players than it now seems We will STILL not be strong enough if that is the case .... for myself, at the start, I expected a transfer "kitty" of £5M to make us into a formidable Team We have already spent more on one player than any other team in our league - a player who scored more goals than any other league player last season AP has already signalled his intent to bring in more players, 1 or 2 before Saturday's game AP and DW are currently having to do pretty much everything between them, whilst a decision on a sporting director is made Throwing money at Saints is not a recipe for success; we have seen before the folly of this approach. I think everybody needs to sit back and be just a tad more patient. It's becoming quite embarassing on here with the forum going into meltdown everytime our demands (spend £5M, get 8 more players in today, get rid of so-and-so) are not met. We have a club - something which was not assured only a few short weeks ago - and the people in charge are working their way towards getting Saints back where they belong. But this takes time; be patient.
kpturner Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 I have seen the interview and it was all normal tame stuff. Nothing whatsoever to get worried about. He didn't say anything that you would not expect him to be saying at the moment. Two more players (probably) by the transfer window closure and that is about it. merrimd Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 I am wondering if it is more frustration than disappointment. In previous interviews he has stated how hard it is to attract the players he wants here. I think we may need to wait a while before the major player movement as we will need to be seen to be an attractive proposition, rather than just potential, before the Paul Mersons of the worls will drop down to our level. Anyway, 2 in who want to be here to replace 2 who do not is not, in my view, status quo. that is a huge improvement. I like the way we bring in players who are BETTER than what we have already got (all 4 signings fit this IMHO). Now that is a refreshing change.
