NorthamSteve Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 I was speaking to a French-Senegalese chap last night. He contacted me on facebook because he noticed that I put a message on the Papa fan-page. He seems to think that we've singed a gem, even to the point that he wants to come here (from Marseille!) to watch him. I asked him to compare him to Henri Camara, he said that Papa is very similar to how Henri was when he was in his mid-twenties, with the main difference being that Papa is more adaptable. He said the first thing that we will notice is his pace, and also was suprised that he agreed to sign for a club in the lower leagues. The last thing he said (and this is obviously tenuous) is that he wouldn't be at-all suprised Camara followed him here as apparently they're good mates. Coming from a Marseille fan, this is quite promising!

the saint in winchester Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 Nice one NorthamSteve! I'm looking forward to watching this fella tomorrow, hopefully he can form a good partnership with Lambert. We still need international clearance, don't we? I can't imagine that will be granted today. We will have to wait before he dons the red and white shirt in anger. Camara - I'd love it if he came here, just love it - but he has wage expectations that we couldn't match. If he can come in line with our budget, then absolutely welcome. Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 just seen on the Saints twitter the following: "Jaidi's work permit is probably 7 - 10 days away. Papa Waigo is a possibility for Saturday but touch and go" from
Ewell Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 According to Wiki Camara was training with Hull all summer but they have not offered him a contract. I think he is well past his best but he could still play at Championship level if not higher. Personally I cannot see him coming to us and he would also be very expensive. However we may have Henri to thank as he may have put in a good word about our club to his good mate Papa. That will do for me! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henri_Camara
eelpie Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 If he doesn't get a game on Saturday perhaps he can teach the Northam to sing and DANCE !!! That would be something. " D-I-S-C-O Let's all have a disco We can dance like Papa" lol
Hopkins Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 All the Italian football fans and the one Italian I know have said he's much more of a winger than a striker. Even played at Wing back a few times.

Coming from a Marseille fan, this is quite promising! Cheers, Sounds good. Might be worth asking this chap if he has an insight into why he fell short of Fiorentina's first team and got loaned out. Sounds like his natural level might be CCC rather than Premiership. Which, of course, is not a bad thing from our perspective at the moment! The bloke clearly thinks he's awesome, but yes I would suspect more CC than Prem.
tttdcs Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 All the Italian football fans and the one Italian I know have said he's much more of a winger than a striker. Even played at Wing back a few times. But did not the Italians think Thierry Henry was a winger ? (Thats my optimistic view) More than likely he will be a pile of poo (Thats my pessimistic view) :-)
Bailey Posted 4 September, 2009 Share Posted 4 September, 2009 I love the fact that this signing has caused so much excitement, despite the fact that none of us have ever seen him play! It's quite funny really, but I'm more than happy to jump on board the Papa Waigo bandwagon. Really, really hope we get to see this lad in action tomorrow. If he scores on his debut too, it would just be fantastic. Would be very disappointed if he didn't do his dance though! Can you imagine that!?
