krissyboy31 Posted 5 October, 2009 Share Posted 5 October, 2009 On Saints' twitter today somebody pointed out that during last night's Charley Boorman programme. Travelling through Papua New Guinea one of the guy's in the background was wearing a Saints shirt. It's a pretty naff copy/fake but a Saints shirt all the same. Old film......After some earlier results he is saying prayers to the big man... to the effect...Play Lallana up alongside Lambo and we will score goals and at least four against some team sooner than later. Legod Third Coming Posted 5 October, 2009 Share Posted 5 October, 2009 Why would someone make a fake Saints shirt? Is there a big market for knock-off recently relegated from the Championship gear...
St Mikie Posted 5 October, 2009 Share Posted 5 October, 2009 Same happened to me, I saw a local on a crappy street corner in Dakar. The old Sandersons shirt I think it was.

Me too, whilst backpacking in Thailand but that was late '80's when at least we had a half decent team.

dubai_phil Posted 5 October, 2009 Share Posted 5 October, 2009 Posted this before & 1 of our Bangkok residents knew the place When we were in the PL there was a shop in Bangkok in Pratunam Market that sold fake saints shirts. I also saw them in the "Tourist market" in Shanghai on a trip They had two quality levels bad and ok, the bad ones were about 2 quid and useful if you wanted to take a friend to the game - it was a simple option and helped to get them hooked - in fact there's one in Damascus to this day!. Never got one myself but used one to brainwash one of my kids when he was much younger, he now has the real thing and travels down from Oxford most Saturdays now Anyway it was a real sign of the times when I went back and found skate shirts instead of ours. I think that hurt more than anything else about relegation

so22saint Posted 5 October, 2009 Share Posted 5 October, 2009 I bought a shirt in Penang when backpacking which was red and white stripes, Sanderson sponsored but Sheffield Wednesday on the badge. It was the night before the Everton game and if we or SW won, we stayed up so I took it as a sign. Cost me 25p
Golden Balls Posted 5 October, 2009 Share Posted 5 October, 2009 I was in Kenya this summer and saw so many random shirts. Coventry, Blackburn, Norwich, Hull to name a few. I took a few old Saints shirts over for the locals.

Joensuu Posted 6 October, 2009 Share Posted 6 October, 2009 Similar happened to me. Was in Chiang Saen, when I noticed a elderly man wearing a Sanderson lightblue/yellow away kit (98?). I ran up to him and shook his hand, but he looked thoroughly confused, and when asked about football, said "Man U" with a big grin... Oh well...
