sadoldgit Posted 9 October, 2009 Share Posted 9 October, 2009 ...we have coverted include Ian Dowie and Roy Keane. Both proved (so far) to be one hit wonders who probably just fell into the right job at the right time but have shown since they can't sustain it. Alan Pardew hasn't set the world alight so far but is quitely going about his job and putting pieces of the jigsaw together. Given time I think he could be an excellent manager for us but as we have seen in the last few weeks, the usual suspects have already been slagging him off and some even calling fr him to be sacked. The two most would say best managers we have ever had both took time to get their success and were anything but overnight wonders. Pardew should be given time. I can remember teams put out by both Bates and McMenemy being beaten by lower leage opponents. Torquay wasn't great but it did show that we can come back and get a result when we are not firing on all cylinders, something that Saints sides in recent years have not done too often. Pardew is not going to make us an overnight success story, but given time he might just get us out of this awful division and turn us into real contenders in the CCC. Scummer Posted 9 October, 2009 Share Posted 9 October, 2009 Most of the talk about Pardew being sacked seems to be coming from you.
S-Clarke Posted 9 October, 2009 Share Posted 9 October, 2009 I don't think anyone is really asking for AP out - we all appreciate that time is needed and to a point, contituitity. He has a point to proove, as he had a bad time at Charlton - before that he was a well respected manager and coach and was even touted for the england managers job at one point. He hasn't lost those abilities over night and i hope that he's learnt from the mistakes he made at Charlton. What you can say though is he has identified our weaknesses quicker than any manager we have had for a long time - and has also corrected them by signing top class players. Not many managers can claim to make lots of good signings - but all of Pard's additions so far have been logical, well thought out and have improved us massively. I truly believe that we will be the team to beat next year - and possibly as soon as the 2nd half of this season. He's been given the tools, he's bought well - it's his team - and it's now up to him to get us winning consistently..... ...and i think all fans would love that and all hold the believe that this will work - no one wants him out. CB Fry Posted 9 October, 2009 Share Posted 9 October, 2009 (edited) How many threads are you going to start patting yourself on the back for being the most perfectest Saints fan in the world? Stop vastly exaggerating the "Pardew out" campaign (which is about one grade up from non-existant) just to feel smug about yourself. Doctoroncall Posted 9 October, 2009 Share Posted 9 October, 2009 I would think most of the negativity comes from frustration and/or not having patience rather than not trusting AP can turn it round.

I don't remember putting out a team that was beaten by a lower league opponent, then again, I don't remember what I done last night let alone something from decades ago.
