Gambol2K9 Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 I saw this on the Mirror's website just now, it was from an article published two days ago about the fallout of the Elliot Ward deal: The animosity between the clubs is now so fierce they may not do business with each other in future despite another deal supposedly being in the pipeline. Now the Mirror's hardly renowned as the most reliable source, but it's got me thinking all the same. Who at Coventry would we potentially be interested in? Scummer Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Maybe it's the other way round, Coventry after one of our players?

Gambol2K9 Posted 18 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 18 January, 2010 I didn't think of it that way, it could well be the other way round. Saying that though, out of the players we'd be willing to sell, I can't see any of them being of interest to Coventry!

david in sweden Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 (edited) Maybe it's the other way round, Coventry after one of our players? My thoughts, too. It might have been that there was a Saints player involved in the exchange / transfer deal and didn't want to go, and that made NC back down at the last minute. Hard luck on Ward, but I think Coleman is the one being "childish". He clearly though he was getting rid of a player he didn't care a "sh*t " about - and it backfired, and he felt miffed about it. It won't be the last deal to fold at the 11th hour..it's not valid until the ink is dry on the contract and registered with the FA. LeBenali Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Only player I could think of was Saga going to them, and considering we're so desperate to get rid of him, couldn't really see it being him IMO.
Saint Bones Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Argh - seem's I'm well behind. Is there a thread about this 'fall-out" and what caused it ?
david in sweden Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Argh - seem's I'm well behind. Is there a thread about this 'fall-out" and what caused it ? There have been MANY... and this is only part of it. But here's the story so far.. Elliott Ward, a former junior at West Ham (when AP was manager there) is now at Coventry BUT apparantly out of favour with CC manager Chris Coleman.(some Coventry fans seem to think there is an " issue" between them - not confirmed). Ward (apparantly) agreed terms with Saints last week , but at the last minute Saints stopped the deal, and Ward was forced to return to Coventry. Coleman has accused (Saints chairman Cortese) of all manner of wrong-doings and even said that CC will not do Biz. with Saints in the future ? What business ? ..some think we had our eye on another CC player, too OR a Saints player was involved in the original deal but it was called off because he didn't want to move ? This story really has played out its time and no crime has been committed, but Coleman is miffed about being stuck with a player who, he clearly doesn't care a sh*t about, but is still stuck with him and now doesn't even have any transfer fee to buy anyone else with. RedAndWhite91 Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Perhaps when Pompey disappear into financial oblivion Coventry can be our new rivals.
Dynamo Naive Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Maybe Freddie Eastwood? He's been out of favour there until very recently, when he' started scoring again.

Huntingdon Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 I have a huge Hammers fan who works with me When AP was at West Ham he went to watch Eastwood play a number of times at Southend The deal never materialised, but Pards clearly sees a talent in Freddie Eastwood - I expect it's him
sandwichsaint Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Eastwood was awesome for a couple of seasons at Southend but has rather lost his way at Wolves and then Cov. Saw him on the telly the other night (Pompey game) and he was dire, admitedly playing out of position. If AP could get him firing again he could be a v useful addition at this level. (I can't believe we can't prise Barnard away from S'arfend before the end of the window, they're virtually skint, we aren't short).
beatlesaint Posted 18 January, 2010 Share Posted 18 January, 2010 Chris Coleman will have no say if NC waves a cheque in front of the Coventry chairman. Would you turn down £500k for arguments sake for a player you dont really want when the only club in for him pulled out of a deal for another player a few weeks beforehand ? Our money is as good as anyones......its not as if they have to sleep with NC is it ?
