Arizona Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 Everyone thought £1m was waaaaay too much cash for WT when he signed two and a half years ago, but this season he has... Scored a goal against Charlton in the JPT in a 2-1 win. Scored the winning penalty in the next round against Norwich. Scored a goal against Ipswich in a 2-1 win, which gave us a wedge of prize money and a sell out game against Pompey in the next round. Surely, that's got to add up to £1m. Obviously it's not all about Thomas, but it kind of reminds me of Killer scoring at Maine road a few years ago. Last game of the season and lifted us from 11th to 8th and earned us an extra £1.5m. hypochondriac Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 If he scores against the skates then I don't care how much he cost.
alpine_saint Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 I am more pleased by the fact that he finally seems to be getting into a rich vein of form that could take him (and us) anywhere.

red&white56 Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 Everytime I see him play he looks solid - especially at RB.

oxfordshire_saint Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 He's always the first man on the scene if one of our players gets fouled, eyes wide and veins bulging. I wouldn't want to anger him! Not afraid to hump the opposition into submission either........
Andy_Porter Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 If Utaka is still there that is, I would have thought along with James and Kaboul he's one of their most lucrative assets.
pilsburydoughboy Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 he'll have his hands full with the pace of Utaka. Utaka will be off at the end of the week when the skates fail to pay the players for the fourth month in a row.Oh dear

SNSUN Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Thomas's form almost makes signing Semi seem like a stupid move, he was great against MK Dons on Wednesday and better yesterday. If Pardew drops him against Brentford I will be very suprised.
Smirking_Saint Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Semi ?? Who ? Thomas is looking great at RB to be fair, solid at this level, however i do agree i don't think he will do well against a pacey winger, but we will see. The bloke is an animal, and built like a sh*thouse but somehow fails to be dominant enough for me. As long as he doesn't find his way back into the middle i will be ok. I'm assuming he means Otsemebor. Before the transfer window opened it was thought of as a nailed on cert that Thomas would be leaving, there were even reports that his solicitor used the arguement that he would be moving to a Northern based club in June as a reason why he shouldn't lose his licence when up in court on a speeding charge. However, given the fact we have a lot of cup tied defenders and two huge cup games coming up against MK and Pompey I think thoughts of moving him, and his admitidly too high for a L1 player wages, on have been shelved. saints-cris Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Id like to think Utaka wont be there.. he is on 80k a week after all!! I do like Thomas, he is an absoloute tank and can put in a good performance. I think i could take him though.
Foxstone Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 he'll have his hands full with the pace of Utaka. Utaka will be quicker due to his much lighter wallet perhaps !
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 I bloody hope Utaka isn't still there, he'll be far too good for our defence. Have been impressed with Thomas at RB this season and would like to see him stay there. I believe he also put in the cross for Lallana's goal at Charlton away? Hardly as significant as the things mentioned in the OP I know, but they all count.
mesaint Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 He is built lke a brick outhouse but he's also very quick, maybe not quick enough for utaka but i wouldn't suprised. It's not often he's beaten in a straight forward foot race. Skillwise though he'd never life with utaka imho. Mind you a threat to kick him up in the air so that he's not fit to transfer anywhere else could be a good tactic. :-)
Third Division South Days Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 I think there were a fair number of posters on here wanting WT as RB since Murty was injured. Hopefully LJ can develop now as a midfielder.

My Skate supporting mate says he's the worst player they've got, absolutely no composure, just pace
L1Minus10 Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Thommo is a good player and he always has been. Not many brick ****house centre backs can play full back well. Stern john didn't fancy it on Saturday after Thommo flattened him.

Avenue Saint Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Thomas is a funny one. Personally havent really seen him do a lot wrong this season. If anything, has looked solid each and every time. Gets a rough deal from a few no doubt but rb, with murty & him, is now sold! James doesn't even figure. At CB, id even say no problem. 100% man! good type to have around....
