Did Markus know?

I dont know if this has been discussed and I don't want to offend any one by this, but the thought crossed my mind that maybe Markus was aware of his illness before he bought the club and maybe wanted to leave a legacy behind? He will definitely always be remembered as the wonderful man who saved our club and what an amazing gift to leave alot of people. Hope I haven't upset anyone by posing this question.

Has there been an official announcement what the cause of death was yet? The "Watch story" would seem to suggest he expected to live a lot longer than he did.[/QUOTE]

Actually, the way I interpreted it was the opposite !

Ie. he knew that it would be a final gesture to his friend but not for him !

Isn't that what's been reported for a while now? That he made plans from the day he bought the club for after his passing?

Sorry unless I've missed it noone know what caused his death do they? Personally from pictures I thought he didn't look well from day one. Maybe we'll find out at some point. Whatever happened he will be remembered as a giant in Saints folklore.

RIP.

He could have not got himself a watch purely as a selfless act. As the story says he was the kind of man to always be thinking of others first. We will never know for sure, I guess thats the point of the story.

I think you'll find that most sensible billionaire's where 25 or 60 make financial preparations for what is to transpire when they die. The papers regularly print stories relating where changes are made according to situations and scenarios throughout a lifetime. Marcus being the wise man that he obviously was, would have left no stone unturned in shaping what was to happen after he passed away.

I was wondering the same, it could have been that he knew he was ill and Cortese sorted out the SFC thing to give him a bit of fun in his last days. Legend, I think we should name a stand after him and have his face put on the seats like at Preston.

Why have Preston got a picture of Markus' face in their stand? :?

Why spoil a genuine trhread with you hysterical cowardly rantings? we've played 2 games you pillock.

Why is NickG allowed to answer any criticism of our pre-season and season so far by referring to the form for the last 2/3 of last season then ?

I thought you were leaving anyway ?

I think the OP makes an important point.

It's the sort of point that should be made because it is important.

Points like this form the mainstay of an internet forum such as this, allowing so many people with such intellects to discuss, analyse and argue other points that are important.

I'd like to thank the OP poster for raising such an important point.

I think the world is much better for the point being made and I shall go happy into the new week ahead knowing that out there in internet land there is an important point.

Thankyou

I thought that as well. In a couple of pictures I noticed he seemed to have a yellow tinge to his face. So sad whatever the cause.

Ah back on topic thanks....

Shortly after Marcus emerged as our owner, I am sure that (possibly not seriously) I recall one poster making a similar comment regarding a yellow tinge to his complexion.

The Watch story seems to tell us of a man who knew something.

I think it will (and should) remain an unanswered question, because we have already placed Marcus on a pedestal as a man, a saviour and a human being.

To then find out that he did what he did in the past months knowing that a clock was ticking would then make everything that has gone before in the past year or so seem very very different and, I think it would break my heart, simply because I don't believe I could be so brave and focused if it were me.

The whole JPT camera moments we have of him, the whole pressure to push on last season.

No. I prefer not to know

Thanks
