countysaint Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 I know that it has been done to death, the added tax on tickets etc.etc... What I would like to know is,how many people have thought about the cup games so far B'mth, Bolton and now Swindon, decided to go at the last minute and realised it was going to cost THAT bit more now it is matchday and then thought, No, Stuff Cortese and his supporter tax I won't go out of principle! I didn't want to make a big deal of this at the time, but as the games have come I have thought about going before matchday ,been unable to commit as work commitments dictate then deciding to go on the night and realising it would cost EXTRA for the same game, so have not attended. I was going to take my son tonight who would have been free with an adult but now it will cost an extra £4 for us to go and I object to this so will not be going. How much damage to the attendance figures is this tax going to make to the clubs income over the season? I'm just curious to find how many people feel the same? I don't really care too much for the sarcastic posters I just want to know how many people feel the same? Whatever the attence is tonight the club could have added another two to its figure and I suspect many more.....................................How many are the same as me? JRM Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Yes mate, there are definitely are, and I think it is a real shame. We used to get excellent crowds for unattractive early rounds of the cups, kids for a quid, season ticket holder discount etc, and everyone would benefit from a bigger crowd and a improved atmosphere, just seems like the club don't care whether you turn up or not anymore
aintforever Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 I didn't go to Bolton for the same reason. I can't remember the last time I've not bothered with two home games in a row. I can easily afford it, it's just the principle. They have got my ST cash up front (well done Nicola), they wont get another penny until next year now (unless we get a good draw in the FA Cup). dronskisaint Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Er no. I support Southampton not any individual so whenever I am able & have enough cash I will go. I remember the godawful prospect of not being able to do that & count my blessings.
Didcot Saint Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Yes mate I do I am well ****ed off with Cortese and am boycotting tonights game. I agree with all you say. The bloke is a self centred egotistical knobhead.
dune Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 I feel exactly the same as you. The club say they ideally don't want to sell too many tickets at the counter on the day (which I can understand), but then whack a ticket tax on fans who can't get to the stadium easily so in effect it can cost more to buy in advance than pay the premium for buying on the day. It's disgusting how little Cortese thinks of fans outside of Southampton. I could accept paying for postage and packing for the club to post tickets out, but the exhorbitant cost of £3 way exceeds the cost of posting out tickets. Cortese has done this simply to squeeze more money out of fans in a devious way. I don't like it and don't like him.

Saint Stimp Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 I'm not going due to the price, neither are various others I know. League One team vs League One team in the first round of the 3rd domestic cup should be no more than £8 for adults.

League One team vs League One team in the first round of the 3rd domestic cup should be no more than £8 for adults. Totally agree with your price! There is another point here that really has had me narked since Wembley and the winning of our first silverware since I was a kid. Having been to all the games in the competition last year and the cumulative spend for all the previous rounds and at Wembley on the day for the family included, I would have REALLY appreciated the club at the very least being bothered to parade said silverware in front of its home support at some point after the win!! Having watched our progression through this competition last year I ask, what is there in it for the supporters?? We don't even get to see the victorious team parade 1 solitary lap around our home ground after winning the trophy................Why bother at all this season if we don't deem it important enough to show off to the home fans? rocknrollman no2 Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Although i try to go to as many games as possible,i have found myself this season not going to any cup games so far.Theres more than one reason for this for instance, I hate midweek games as its such a rush to get away from work, get changed etc, then spend an hour getting home. Also i think the prices have been way too high for the first round of games in the cups,a tenner plus kids free or for a fiver would be better. Last point i want to make is the fact the now ST holders have had to stump up all the money in one go,there seems to be no benefit or discounts in having a ST.I think the way us fans have been treated so far is with total contempt. So until the clubs attitude changes,i will only go to league games. Jones91 Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 It doesn't cost extra than a normal ticket on the day, its just cheaper if you buy in advance - it's just to give you some incentive for buying tickets earlier...

You're right, some numpties will say it was embarassing enough winning it without showing it off, but I for one don't care what others think of my club. Obviously a major parade wouldn't have been appropriate, but we are where we are and we won a cup. It would have been a nice day out for the kids. Not if you factor in the ticket tax. Those who can't get to the stadium for tickets and who aren't sure if they can make a fixture in advance (meaning they can't block buy in advance when they are at the ground) have been treated like sh1t by our jumped up little chairman. alpine_saint Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 I know its easy to say for me because I dont go regularly and when I do its a one-off treat where I dont object to that extra few quid, and for regular goers it all adds up. But I just think if you want to see decent players come in, the money has to come from somewhere.

Yeah by selling tickets at a set price and if necessary charging for P+P. £3 is more than a P+P price, it's a tax on tickets plus the cost of P+P. It disgusts me how little Clotese thinks of fans. It would more affect, in my eyes anyway, people like me who go to anywhere between 5 and 15 games a season. At the moment I'm just totally disinclined to spend out a non-inconsiderate sum for cup games which I have priorotised as very low in importance anyway. Noodles34 Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Have to agree with most comments on here, could have gone tonight but after the last couple of days, why should I? And then have to pay extra because of deciding to go at the last minute, no chance You can have all the money in the league and maybe the best (paid) players but I am seriously starting to get fed up with Cortese and his 'vision', sorry he just seems like another RL, but with a couple of quid in his pocket! BadgerBadger Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Cup games are too expensive and that puts me off going, 1. can't afford all these games, 2. I have a life outside football that needs to be fullfilled (this is not a dig at those who choose football so please don't start) What I would add is that if they reduced the pricing considerable I may attend more than I do

whizzpop Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 And don't get me started on the cost of postage and delivery on the clubs website, 12 quid extra to get a home shirt, what a joke

ladysaint Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 As there were no programmes tonight, I have been told that the programme sellers were told that if they wanted to see the game tonight they had to pay tonights prices, suffice to say 22 of them refused to pay it. If this is true, then its outrageous. Actions like this will lower morale among backroom staff to levels not seen since the dark days of Lowe.
