Turkish Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 Like most of you didn't go to the game today, but listened to it on the radio, great to hear them playing well. Jaidi sounded immense, a real rock at the back when he needed to be and they said Hammond had his best game this season, "a real captains performance" These two have come in for a lot of stick recently so only right to praise them when due. Toadhall Saint Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 Agreed! and both commented on by NA in the Solent interview.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 To be honest, when I heard that Fonte was out and Jaidi was in, I wrote the game off. He looked seriously out of sorts and looked as if he was walking in water, but today... every ball that came into the box all I could hear was "Jaidi's there", "Away by Jaidi", "Jaidi hold his man off" so yeh, full of praise for him. Good to hear Hammond had a good game aswell, about time. He has shown in the past that he has a bit about him, I just get frustrated how he just lets the game pass him by so often. Sounds like today he got himself stuck in and really bossed it. He gave away 5 fouls though, which is all too common for him.
NickG Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 agreed, not been Hammond's bigggest fan - partly as always seems he could do a bit better - sounded up for it today and played well. Noticed Adkins when praising Jaidi said he has done a lot of work on his fitness
David Strover Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 Well my guess is Nigel Adkins has said 'this is where you need to be to get in the team, now go out and do it'. He can soon find who really wants to be part of the team that way......all conjecture of course because I know feck all...Jaidi from the sounds of it responded. Fair play to him... John Smith Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 I have been called all sorts of names for defending Hammond, apparently I'm his bum boy. I have also been defending Jaidi. I am so glad these two played well today, not because it proves me right, in that Hammond isn't sh*t and Jaidi isn't way passed it, but because we NEED these two performing at the top of their game. Like I said, not sure if Jaidi will play every game, but, against big burly Centre Forwards, there is no one bigger or burlier than Jaidi. And Hammond, away from home particularly, he has been a rock. At home, he needs a bit more confidence in order to regain some of his excellent standards of last season. But, I think they will both improve and both be key players for us this season. What I want now is 2 things, 1. these two to kick ar*e for us at our next home game so people can see just how good they are, and for that to continue for many games to come. 2. When they both play well for the next 6 or so games, everyone on those 2 hammond hater threads, come on here and kiss my ar*e!

That's part of his job though isn't it? Do what's needed to break up opposition attacks, specially when they break.
jam Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 Hammond seems to have it in him to play very well and when he does so we usually win. My problem with him is that he doesn't do it often enough and he goes missing we really struggle.
saintwiz Posted 25 September, 2010 Share Posted 25 September, 2010 I was at the game and Jaidi did ok, but is behind Seabourne and Martin IMO.

NickG Posted 26 September, 2010 Share Posted 26 September, 2010 He hasn't been playing very well. Think people get particularly frustrated as feel he can play better.
John Smith Posted 2 October, 2010 Share Posted 2 October, 2010 Just want to make the point (again) to all those Hammond haters, another good game from the captain today. IMO, this was his normal standard game, although, if you check the post match thoughts thread, others at the game thought he played particularly well, although I think Morgan was the better of the two. However, he was certainly not sh*t today, a waste of space or any other particularly crappy things you want to say. I have a felling I will be coming back to this thread EVERY week, just to make this point, and I will. It's time some of our fans started supporting our players when they aren;t playing well. Sometimes that's why they need us. Forget this, "they are paid X amount and should be bettter" rubbish, everyone has a bad day at the office from time to time, let's allow our players to not be perfect all the time. NickG Posted 2 October, 2010 Share Posted 2 October, 2010 don't think there are any Hammond haters, just some who, like me, feel his form has not always been as good as his ability. He is playing well now.
Kingsland Red Posted 2 October, 2010 Share Posted 2 October, 2010 Some on here will never understand the water carriers. Another good game from Hammond ( and Spiderman) driving the team on.
Turkish Posted 2 October, 2010 Author Share Posted 2 October, 2010 Some on here will never understand the water carriers. Another good game from Hammond ( and Spiderman) driving the team on. exactly. I have said on numerous occasions that alot on here dont undertand football and those ones are the one that moan about the likes of Telfer, Hammond etc. Every team needs a player like that, and Hammond was good again today, finding his form, good luck to the lad. S-Clarke Posted 2 October, 2010 Share Posted 2 October, 2010 Hammond was immense today, really pleased that he's getting back to the level we all know he's capable of. That's the reason he was made captain..
Saint Garrett Posted 2 October, 2010 Share Posted 2 October, 2010 No coincidence he's improved ever since there has been some competition added to the squad!
