scott_saints Posted 4 November, 2010 Share Posted 4 November, 2010 We should lose delibrately so that if we lose the next league game, the delldays can't say "It's because we're still in the cup!". Also, anyone else quite enjoy the amount of waffle that Adkins comes up with? Alot is a load of rubbish really but it just come across very...enthusiastic! Listen, i love the way he speaks, he's really passionate for the job and you can see that he's desperate to succeed here - it's kind of infectious the way he comes across. He's a good manager, it's a simple as that.

Badger Posted 5 November, 2010 Share Posted 5 November, 2010 He's just trying to win games of football. Which has always been the same since he has been in the building. He has an honest hard working group of players

Nexstar Posted 5 November, 2010 Share Posted 5 November, 2010 Out of the JPT and League Cup, would like to see us go as far as possible in this one, rather than just concentrate on the league. Beating teams in a higher division will be a big confidence booster and winning games is what the players want.
Toadhall Saint Posted 5 November, 2010 Share Posted 5 November, 2010 Think there's a difference between wanting to do as well as possible in the FA cup and trying to do well in all cups. It's impossible in this league, 46 games is a long long season, so taking the JPT seriously makes it a really long season. Add a carling cup and fa cup run and you're struggling. You either need to play reserves/kids in one, or have a huge squad. Our squad is big enough to handle a few cup games, I'd like to be in the third round draw at least and test the team against the league above or top flight. This. Ken Tone Posted 5 November, 2010 Share Posted 5 November, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2208103,00.html Not a million miles away from what Pardew was saying last year, no? Let's see what team Adkins puts out for the game eh? That will be the true indication of its importance. (Allegedly) letting Fonte take a few days off and miss the game is not a good indication that we'll be playing a full first team.
alpine_saint Posted 5 November, 2010 Share Posted 5 November, 2010 The cup is a damned distraction from the much, much more important business of keeping our run going. Wonder how the cup luvvies will feel if Lallana or Barnard get injured ?
doddisalegend Posted 5 November, 2010 Share Posted 5 November, 2010 The cup is a damned distraction from the much, much more important business of keeping our run going. Wonder how the cup luvvies will feel if Lallana or Barnard get injured ? Where as being stuffed by a team in the league below would do the team a world of good? the team should be trying to win every game they play I would be mightly ****ed if the players had the same attitude as some fans, when you pay hard earned money to go and watch Saints play you want to see the players trying their best regardless of what game it is. Big succesful clubs (which is what we are aiming to be in the long run) manage to compete in both cups and league evey season with no problems. Saint_Ash Posted 5 November, 2010 Share Posted 5 November, 2010 I'm happy to be playing only in the league and the fa cup. Luckily we're out of the paint and the carling cups as they are the proper distractions but doing well in the FA cup gives the players a proper boost, we'll only get into about the 3rd round anyway and then we all hope to get a prem team and if we lose it's only a few matches we've been in and if we win it's an Excellent win! Contrary to what other people think I still love the FA cup.
