whelk Posted 27 December, 2010 Share Posted 27 December, 2010 Bale sell on clause - does anyone know if we cashed in on this already? Assume we must have had one. Apologies if repetition as no doubt been answered previously
aintforever Posted 27 December, 2010 Share Posted 27 December, 2010 I think we cashed it in and ended up with Forecast. Had no choice because we were skint.

Chez Posted 27 December, 2010 Share Posted 27 December, 2010 we swapped the sell on clause for a third string keeper. Kelvin Davis had to have been leaving at the time for us to get that desparate. If not then total madness.
St Chalet Posted 27 December, 2010 Share Posted 27 December, 2010 It was part of a deal that low did, along with the previous regieme that settled Theo Walcott's add on's meaning we got circa £9m rather than £12m. From memory the initial Bale figure was £5m + another £5m in ad-ons. Runour has it we had a 25% sell on clause which as the above poster has rightly identified we traded for £2m and the legendary Tommy Forescast on a 5 or 6 year deal. There was an article in one the red tops this year about how Levy had effectively saved the Spuds £15m by doing this.

If not then total madness. If I remember correctly we were pretty much trying to push Davis (and pretty much every other senior player out the door to save wages. Wasn't that the Davis 'I turned my mobile off on deadline day' transfer window?
jam Posted 27 December, 2010 Share Posted 27 December, 2010 http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?24993-Bale-sell-on&highlight=bale+sell+clause Is there any reason why you chose that thread as opposed to any of the other dozen or so that were started on the same subject in the last couple of months? September Saint Posted 28 December, 2010 Share Posted 28 December, 2010 The moral of the Bale/Walcott saga is that future sales i.e Chamberlain can be done from a position of strenth. The way smaller/weaker clubs are screwed by the big boys needs looking at. These are the sort of things Mawinney should have been looking at instead of driving little clubs like Luton to the wall! September Saint Posted 28 December, 2010 Share Posted 28 December, 2010 mawinney is and always will be a t**t! In a competition for the face you would most like to slap, Mawinney would come a close second to Rupert.

That's only potential and may not be anywhere near that. Still not as good a fee as we got for Richards from them.
