dannysfc Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 As I was reading Wednesdays Echo after the Walsall game which I was at I saw that Adkins is thinking of bringing in an emergency loan seeing as we starting to bring in players that are injured/have a bad injury like Schnedierlin which looks quite bad going by the reports. So this got me thinking in are there any Good emergency loan players that we could get who would be Good for our team and is there an emergency loan window or can we bring someone in now?! Thanks! COYR !!
Crab Lungs Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 I think you'd need a more solid reason than Schneiderlin's injury for an emergency loan. I can think of plenty of players that we should have chased in the Summer and this window though, but didn't.

Matthew Le God Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 "We dont need them. The squad is strong enough. We will get no more injuries than our promotion rivals" Nick G and Daren W. Just how many central midfield players should Saints have? Saints had Hammond, Schneiderlin, Chaplow and Gobern in January. It would be hard to sign anymore, if they were any good their parent clubs would want them to get regular games whilst on loan. That simply wouldn't happen as the current Saints players would play. Crab Lungs Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 I agree we've got a strong squad, yes. But really, why are below Bournemouth if its that strong? Surely it has to be the management, or the players which aren't performing... which is it? That said, we've still a way to go this year so we shouldn't worry. Frustrating that we've missed out on some players who could have provided great depth though, or, alternatively, competition for the starting 11. Nexstar Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 It's a difficult window, as MLG has said, but if we were to look to strengthen then I think CM (if Morgan is out for a good few weeks) and GK are the two we may need to look at.
Window Cleaner Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 But surely the loan window is still open for ordinary loans. Emergency loans are something else, probably because they're short term in nature or something like that. Other clubs are still signing players on loans until the end of the season. Every loan between February and March and between September and November is classed as an "emergency loan".

Matthew Le God Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 But you don't need a particular reason for them, that's what I was getting at. Man City signed a goalkeeper last season with special dispensation because the Premier League unlike the Football League, doesn't have a loan window after the transfer window closes. Richard Chaplow and Nicholas Bignall when they signed were "emergency loans" for Saints, even though there wasn't an injury crisis.
David Strover Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 There have been several loans to several clubs that certainly aren't emergencies. Anyhoo if we did get someone in you'll never had heard of him and he will be a reserve or permenant sub at his parent club. Warning - do not get excited. Matthew Le God Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 There have been several loans to several clubs that certainly aren't emergencies. I agree the title "emergency loan" is misleading. But all loans in the Football League between February and when the loan window shuts in March are given this title.

But all loans in the Football League between February and when the loan window shuts in March are given this title. But the original point was that we'd need a justification for one and Morgan being injured wouldn't be enough. You do not need justification in any shape or form in these windows, afterwards yes and it's limited mainly to goalkeepers.
Matthew Le God Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 I agree. Hammond and Chaplow will play, with Gobern on the bench. Any additional central midfielder would probably just replace Gobern on the bench. Saints may not want to stifle Gobern's chances and any parent club wouldn't loan us a player if he won't play. With Hammond being given the ultimatum that if he gets any more yellow cards he'll get a whacking great club fine
Dark Munster Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 With Forecast on the bench on Saturday, the 3 top three priorities are: 1) A goalkeeper 2) A goalkeeper 3) A goalkeeper
Lighthouse Posted 3 March, 2011 Share Posted 3 March, 2011 We don't need anybody. The players we have just need to play better.

That sounds pretty disrespectful to me... Having said that, I'd prefer you to play there too.
