Saint Garrett Posted 5 May, 2011 Share Posted 5 May, 2011 Just thought I'd have a look to see if any odds had been posted up for next years promotion chances. Obviously it is missing out the teams that get relegated and the teams in the playoffs. Also missing one team who is to come up from League 1. Leicester 6 Southampton 10 Brighton 14 Burnley 14 Middlesbrough 14 Ipswich 16 Leeds 22 Hull City 25 Watford 28 Coventry 33 Derby 33 Millwall 33 Portsmouth 33 Bristol City 40 Crystal Palace 80 Barnsley 100 Doncaster 100 Am surprised that Leeds and Middlesbrough aren't above us...Oh, and the fact that Brighton are far far better than us ! LGTL Posted 5 May, 2011 Share Posted 5 May, 2011 It looks a very weak league like that, if we are adding Wigan, Blackpool and one other, then I still think it will be a weak league.
Sour Mash Posted 5 May, 2011 Share Posted 5 May, 2011 It looks a very weak league like that, if we are adding Wigan, Blackpool and one other, then I still think it will be a weak league. Or add West Ham, Wolves and Blackburn and it looks stronger? Hard to really call it either way. And re. the original post, Leeds at 22s has got to be worth a fiver............. Forest Swansea Reading Leicester Leeds Hull watford Boro will all do very well IMO its a hard league..you have to be so good week in week out to have a sniff...look at the great run we went on in the NPC and just got 6th that time
St Chalet Posted 5 May, 2011 Share Posted 5 May, 2011 This will be the third season of Boro in the Champ, this means no parachute I think.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 May, 2011 Share Posted 5 May, 2011 I cant see us investing that much more than someone like Boro. Middlesborough have run out of parachute payments from their time in the Premier League and have already stated they are making large cutbacks to the wage bill this summer. CWD Posted 5 May, 2011 Share Posted 5 May, 2011 I've taken great pleasure in taunting my skate friends with those odds
stcappy Posted 5 May, 2011 Share Posted 5 May, 2011 Boro have to cut there wage bill from £24m to under 12 this summer, hence their lower odds. Although, That would still be the same as cardiff's this year, even with Bellamy. This will be a very competitive league- Norwich are a bit of a fluke/freak event. The last team to go back to back up to the premiership was man city. So on one level it can be done as it has been before more than once, but it's not s regular occurrence. Play offs would be a very good result next year. I am sure at some point in august and throughout the season though i too will be convinced an automatic spot is our rightful place! We will need to spend very wisely IMHO to take us up to the next level.
