New stuff from Fluke

What a strange coincidence. I was in the gym a couple of days ago when a Fluke track randomly popped up on a Spotify playlist I was listening to, and it reminded me just how good they were 'back in the day'.

Glasto weekend, so the Mrs and me are doing our usual thing of having a few drinks and watching it all on TV from the comfort of our own living room.

She enjoyed PJ Harvey earlier, but I've never been able to connect with her music and find some of it quite jarring and uncomfortable to listen to. We're both enjoying Aurora though - not really listened to her before but she's a great performer.

Love a bit of Whitesnake. Seen them a few times - first time in the 80's with the Cozy Powell 633 Squadron drum solo. Lost my eyebrows to the flap throwers!!

He's also worth listing to on the Rockonteurs podcasts run by Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt - DC has been on 3 times - always very entertaining

Bap Kennedy (lead singer of under-rated Northern Irish band 'Energy Orchard') passed away far to young on this day 8 years ago..... superb singer-songwriter....

I had a few Caravan albums back in the 70’s but never got to see them live. It came as a pleasant surprise then when a mate got us tickets to see the Caravan acoustic trio in Canterbury last Sunday night. The number of octogenarians in the audience was staggering and we wondered if some of them would make it to the end of the gig.

The music was excellent and they went down a storm. They didn’t play enough oldies for me but some of the new stuff written during lockdown is worth a listen - from the album It’s None Of Your Business. Pye Hastings’ vocals have suffered from the ravages of time and the quaint English whimsy isn’t there anymore, but there are some strong tracks, well performed.
