A couple of weeks ago I posted that Rudi was going on loan to Ipswich. This came from a contact I have up there. I saw him yesterday and asked him why he gave me such a poor bit of info.

He told me that now Rudi is playing he has changed his mind and wants to stay and play.Whether the club are happy with that our end i dont know but if Rudi is keen to get his heqad down and play then it can only be good for us

This I am struggling to understand.

Why, if the club are on such a knife edge from administration, didn't they keep him out of the first team if it meant he would leave? His high wages will mean that we suffer somewhere else in the squad.

I dont know. I assume that as SJ has gone then we can afford his appearance money or an agreement about it has been reached between him and the club. That i dont know but if my collegue up there is right Rudi is keener to play again.I didnt think it would be seen as a negative Mick.

Im happy for Rudi to stay, but not if it is the difference between having to sell someone like Lallana or Surman for example.

Perhaps those running the club haven't quite reached the top of the insanity tree yet and have realised that to stand any chance of surviving in this league, we will need a couple of players who have finished puberty.

I believe Wotton, Killer and Perry are the only other outfield players over the age of 23, and none of them are first team regulars at the moment.

Mick do you really think that those 2 have set the world alight. Yes both have come into form but to me neither yet would be a started for any PL side at present and so unless we are going to slash our asking price I cant see them sold.If any player who is playing to high standards is KD and so he might be the main target. Lallana may be seen as a prospect but would he command a fee like Theo or Bale, £1.5m is the most he'd be worth with add ons.

If a decent offer were forthcoming for Rudi then there is no doubt in my mind that he'd be sold in a flash. However, whilst he's focused and concentrating on his performances, then I'm more than happy for him to stay and be in the side.

There were a couple of instances during the Coventry game where Rudi swung in a really decent cross, and it was just a little reminder of what he can do when at his best. I feel that IF, and it's a big if, he does stay for the whole season, then he could prove to be a very useful player for us.

So thats how much he will be sold for in jan then.

But it wouldn't be for the sake of keeping Skacel.

If we were still that badly over our wage bill, we wouldn't have brought in players like Pulis, Gasmi, Smith, Forecast, Robertson and Pekhart. None of which are regulars in the side at the moment.

I dont know, but the club may have to take low prices if they really are as deep in it as it seems. If the crowds could get back up to break even figures or better then it might ease things but that is going to be tough unless the yteam really starts to give fans faith.

I didn't say they would fetch a high price and yes, £1.5m is probably all we would get for Lallana. As the saying goes, 'beggars can't be choosers' and we can't afford to keep the high earners and our best youngsters or even both.

But I think Rudi has done anything but set the world alight. I'd rather keep Lallana any day.

Good point, but the conspiracy theorists will insist that its a deliberate ploy by RL to put us on the brink.

Its a funny way of going about it. If he really wnated us to go into administration I would have thoguht he would be playing all the high earners not players who would be on very little wages compared to a lot on the books.

If we can afford the wages for all those loanees that aren't 1st team regulars then we shouldn't be in a position that we have to sell.

Yet all indications are, that we still have to cut costs and sell just to keep our heads above water.

As the likes of Euell, Scatchel, John, Rasiak, BWP and Saganoski are the highest earners, I presumed these are the players that we need to release to get our wage debts under control.

Maybe I have got that all wrong, but I can't see us not selling out of necessity come January.

Like I said at the beggining, something doesn't add up.

Half of which are complete cr*p too! (yet to see Gasmi but let's hope he has more prowess that Pekhart or Pulis!)

This one baffles me. With Redknapp taking over at Spurs and shouting out that they have a striker crisis at the club yet he didn't pull Pekhart in from us? Not sure if even Jan rates him now.

Striker 'crisis' so bad they score 4 in Europe incl a hattrick for Bent and 4 against the Arse. Same old Harry.

You need a squad so we needed to sign players, but these players coming in are going to be on £1k, £2k or £3k a week max. The players we have and still trying to shift such as John, Skacel, Thomas, Davis are going to be on £10, 15k even £20k a week.

Get rid of John and you can pay all the loanees.

The reason none of those players you mentioned are playing is down to the fact they are not good enough or injured. The Forecast signing seems like madness (was Davis on his way out?), signign Pulis and Gasmi crazy, and gettign OPekhard and then replacing him with Robertson five minutes later just stupid.

****flaps has a habit of assessing players and if he deems them to be not good enough then he doesn't include them when he counts numbers in his squad. The term `bare bones' could actually mean that he has 15 players available to play, but are all sitting in the stands because he doesn't rate them.

As for Pekhard, no one rates him here so why would ****flaps consider him?

Harry won't be interested in Pekhart, he means real strikers, ones who score loads of goals at top level.

You make it sound like a player is akin to a piece of land or property - there to disposed of to the highest bidder . A player is not merely a disposable asset on a spread sheet , they're human beings signed to a legally binding contract and if they don't want to move there's nothing a football club can do to move them .
