Too soon to praise the Poch?

Before you all raise me to the ground I am delighted with our recent playing style, results and above all position in the table! However with terrible results against Newcastle and QPR at the start of Pochs reign is it too quick to assume our season safe and the new manager as a saviour who can do no wrong?

I am amazed by the progression of Jrod but would this have happened anyway? I agree there has been more comsistancy in team selection and I agree overall we have played very well but I still think West Ham, who we came up with, should still be a real test as I still find myself nervous with a 1 nil lead for 60 mins! Or even the last 20! I sound very negative but i just feel many jumping to conclusions about how Cortese was right, and that Adkins could never do it haven't really considered everything?

Most of all COYR and wouldn't top ten be a beautiful thing

This is where I'm not sure we were pretty impressively unbeaten before Adkins left and always looked our best pressing high and shaky when we sat back! I think he has done incredibly well to adapt to a new role in a new league and country but with those losses is it any different really!

I disagree, may be the same players but the Team and the way the Team play is very different

Agree. He has changed what we do quite significantly in a short time. The pressing is one visible change but the increase in confidence and belief is huge and IMO not something NA could have instilled as MP has done.

Listen to NA now...he was talking after the game about being upset because Reading have "a winning mentality". Do they really? 7 defeats in a row suggests otherwise.

Pochettino is just a more authentic character IMO and you can see why the players would respond to him.

As I said last week someone who has been on the coaching pitch during both regimes said they loved Nigel and he was a good coach but the sessions under MP are just better allround and the players have really connected with him. Kelvin's recent comments suggest this is the case.

If Im correct, under NA we hadnt beaten anyone above us in the league apart from Newcastle at home.

Nigel's greatness is seen now that he is no longer at the club, yet, they are his players whom Pochettino has taken and got them performing with greater belief and confidence. However, we shall not know how good Pochettino is, until he brings in his own players and maintains the good results. In management, a manager's real ability is often not seen in his presence, but in his absence when his team are led by another. Were Nigel not such a good manager, Pochettino wouldn't have had such a easy transition, would have had to bring in other players to make improvements. Let's wait till next season to assess Pochettino's success or otherwise.

How was Newcastle away a terrible result? Most people on here expected us to lose to them, in the end we were a bit unlucky. Transformation of JRod (playing him down the middle) and Steve Davis is down fairly and squarely to the Sheriff in my opinion. We had awful games under NA just like QPR, not sure I even see that now as a terrible result, just something that was bound to happen with Saggy Chops in charge. Not dissing NA by any means, but the difference since MP arrived is clear for all to see.

I think it is fair to praise him, we've done well and the players seem happy under him. But we cannot seriously evaluate him until maybe the end of the calendar year. His players, his pre season, his tactics ... if we progress, well done great, if not ... im sure we'l all have our opinions about where to place the blame ;)
