David Armstrong says things are desperate.

David Armstrong was very critical of today's performance. "The players have to take a long hard look at themselves, square pegs in round holes, wingers in who never go outside for the byeline, always cutting in or crossing from 25 yds out, easy for the defence, beaten by a poor team. It has to be recognised that the players can't play and don't believe in the system, Jan has to stop this utopian system". TiaJuana Tim on saying the same thing.

This team is no longer playing the pass and move football from the start of the season.

Looking at the players omitted today, has there been a bust up? McGoldrick now ten games without scoring is a shoe in. BWP with 3 goals in recent games omitted.

Portvleit is IMO a prat.

It suggested on solent that there was a possibility that jan has lost the dressing room, which expains the team sheet

Don't think he has the fans either any longer which IMO is probably worse and should lead to him getting the boot ... it wont though, but would be nice to think that if you do a crap job for OUR team you shouldn't be kept on!

The team for today was a complete joke and if that clown comes on after sundays defeat and bleats about too many games in a few days he should be laughed off the air.

I thought we'd seen the last of stupid excuses and dumb team selections when we brought in Pearson, cracking job on his non renewal Mr Lowe!

I see something like 8 of our players today have less than 10 games at League standard, can't say I was suprised to see us lose, I dont expect us to steam roll anyone really but some heart, effort and passion would be nice.

Agreed. We are now repeating the crap decisions made by Gorman and Dodd. If JP has lost the support of the lads then there is no point in carrying on. Lowe might as well phone up the FA and let them know that, rather than waste a lot of cash, we forfeit this season. Just shut SMS down. Mothball the club until next season and start afresh in div one.

But i thought this was the side you were looking for no Lallana and two proper wingers, cake and eat it and all that.

I feel desperately sorry for JP, a good honest man jettisoned into this by an awful board.

He should leave now for his own good.He does not deserve the months of grief ahead.

seconded. A decent man, who has accomplished a lot in football on his own merit. He doesn't deserve to be associated with the fiasco which is SFC.

Yes I agree I am still not certain it is the current board's fault.

But casting blame is not really going to help.

SFC has been in decline for sometime how far it has to fall further only time will tell

Obviously you can't read, my criticisms are the same as Armstrong's, Wingers coming inside, launching crosses on the 45, never getting behind the defence. The slowest player on the field picked in the hole, McGoldrick still picked. The team needs to change it's tactics The fact Lallana is missing is irrelevant, Perry and BWP missing is bizarre.

This certainly isn't the team I would have picked. I would have played last weeks back four, Cork and Surman in the middle, BWP wide right with Holmes wide left and give Euell and Paterson a go up front.

If arguably the best player in the world feels he can play most of the game right on the touchline and be lethal doing it, surely our fourth raters could at least do the same.

As everyone who knew anything about Championship fooyball said at the start of the season - trying to play fancy open football with inexperienced kids in this league is a recipie for disaster.

It is probably too late but we need a tough manager who knows this league to come in and try and put together a side who can grind out the results. The youngsters are floundering, they need help, and it's not gonna come from a foreigner who doesn't know the league and insists on trying to play like Arsenal.

We started the season with inexperienced players and an inexperienced manager playing some cracking football.

We still play cracking football, but the problem is that we are so one dimensional and easy to beat, it's hard to believe.

I love watching some of the football we play - but if you balance that out with the manner in which teams absolutley tonk us, then it's heartbreaking.

If I have to hear another opposition manger saying we're the best footballing side they've played this season after we've taken a beating, I don't know what I'll do.

The current chairman should have realised very on (after the FA Cup Final) that you need to spend money to consolidate your position and kick on. Sadly that didn't happen and it's all been downhill from there and now it's pretty much too late to rescue the whole sorry situation.

I hate being this negative about the club I love, but David Armstrong is right when he say desperate - the only thing is that oit's a massive understatement.

I just wish we had a chairman who cared more about the business of the club, rather than just protecting his investment.

No we don't! We just don't. Any team can pass the ball around without getting anywhere. I didn't think anyone seriously still believed this "totaal voetbal" boolacks.

The last game I went to was Plymouth at home and I was as bored as I've ever been at SMS. I saw the Palace game on TV and we had 2 shots on target from outside the area.

Now unless today's game and the Forest game were a significant improvement, I am inclined to think we are not playing cracking football.

P.S. I didn't think we were all that fantastic at the start of the year. Yes we beat Derby (who had just been beaten by Donny IIRC) Brum in the Cup and the mighty Exeter, but we put in some stinkers too.

But that is sort of the problem , his achievements in football were as a player 30 years ago.

We are now reaping the rewards of appointing the equivalent of a Wessex League coach from a country who have achieved nothing in club football for years.

He may be a decent man, but he has accomplished fccukuk all in real terms in football management. Please don't be fooled by what the Echo and the OS put up regarding his managerial successes.

(Now just read the rest of the thread and see 70's Mike has already had a pop, so sorry for the double team, but can only add that even his only notable promotion was when he was out in temporary charge whilst the real manager - Vloet - got his coaching badges and I understand Vloet still ran the things on the pitch with Jan just being a stooge).
