Huffton Posted 4 January, 2009 Share Posted 4 January, 2009 for saving the better part of £70 today, because had you not been back at the club I probably would have gone today, and spent about that. Then again if you hadn't come back we would probably have a better manager and team and would have put up a much better fight than those poor rabbits in the headlights did this afternoon. Do the decent thing Rupes, admit you are wrong (difficult for an ego like yours I know) and fall on your sword. No one will think less of you for doing so....(probably because no one could think less of you)

rocknrollman no2 Posted 4 January, 2009 Share Posted 4 January, 2009 Good post Huffton. I did the same thing and saved myself the best part of £100 plus all the money i usually spend on beer. I wonder how many going for the first time today will want to come back?To be fair i cant see many regulars wanting to come back with gormless Portaloo and his Dutch total football malarky. Oh i nearly forgot.... LOWE OUT!!!

Colinjb Posted 4 January, 2009 Share Posted 4 January, 2009 Doesn't matter what the ref had done, we wouldn't have scored against united in 8 days of play, let alone 90 minutes. Thankyou Mr Lowe for presiding over the fall from grace of my club and for your comically futile efforts to try and salvage something from it. Bring on administration and the league one campaign next year.
Huffton Posted 4 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 4 January, 2009 Well done. You must be so proud. What's he wrong about anyway? This tenure. I thought he was wrong to let Sturrock go, should have spent more in the prem if possible and shouldn't have appointed Burley and really didn't like him for those decisions, but that's in the past. I don't see much money around the club now and am very much in favour of saving the club AND looking long term, rather than the rest of football which seems to be happy endless manager changes, promotions, relegations and instability. I'm happy with slow and sustainable improvement. This is our first season so it's a very tricky one. But if we go down I'll still be there and just hoping we can get back up. Yeah, because Nigel Pearsons doing such a sh1t job isn't he? And he must have cost more than the three dutch ****wits that are in charge now... I think we would all be happy with slow and sustainable improvement, I really haven't seen any evidence of that this season though.

How about buying a few more tickets to replace the sales of those fans who have seen the light and will not go until the egotist has departed. We need people of high morals like you to spend more on tickets...why not buy a box for the rest of the season.

Wouldn't have mattered if we had ten, 4 7 or 12 men out there. It was a totally gutless performance. Man Utd had so much in reserve against us even when we had 11 out there it was unreal. That we made virtually no impression against a laxadaisical Man Utd team who allowed us to try our pretty football against them tells me how f*cked we are. The lads have no backbone. Perry kept us in it early on, the kids are not alright.

As Steve Claridge says, we're probably doing some of them more harm than good. Imagine a Gobern being handled like Walcott is? Or Smith? Or Patterson... Kids need to be brought through into a settled confident side, not relied on to bale us out of the crap. Of all the people at our club, I feel most sympathy with some young players who could well be having their careers put back years, if not destroyed. Something I said back in the summer. It's one thing getting exposure to first team football, and it's an entriely different thing to be dropping them in the deep end, playing too many games and relying on them to save the Club. As well as destroying the current crop of players I reckon it could actually make some parents and youngsters wary of coming to us and being exposed too quickly. Hope is not a strategy. People forget that many of the lads are used to playing about ten-twenty games in total in a season. And even then, very few play all of them. And two games in three days, no chance... Now, I know people will say, it's only football - we do real jobs, etc. But these guys are professional athletes. You wouldn't take Steve Cram and start him off running three miles a week for a year or so and then ask him to run from Paris to Dakar, twice a week!!! WE have to get more experienced heads in. People who are used to this league but still hungry and keen - and obviously cheap until the cretin is eliminated!!!
Raven on the wing Posted 4 January, 2009 Share Posted 4 January, 2009 Quite simply the worst 11 players I have seen wearing a Saints shirt in 40 odd years. Add to that an inept manager , an egotistical chairman, and a fiercely loyal (today) but misguided fan base, and we are in deep trouble. Rupert will be delighted he got away unscathed from this debacle which was masked by some bad refereeing.

It's not a sensible strategy to put young players in before they're ready. They deserve better and should able to concentrate on learning without these additional pressures on them. It's abuse of their enthusiasm.I felt sorry for Patterson today. It wasn't his fault he was put in that situation. It was the fault of those who picked him too soon. It could well cause him to regress, which is a real shame. He has clearly not learned enough yet about closing down without needing to dive into a tackle. This is best learned in less pressurised contexts, not against the best club team in the world. You state that you are "very much in favour of saving the club AND looking long term, rather than the rest of football which seems to be happy endless manager changes, promotions, relegations and instability." Now, I hate to burst your bubble, but, day 1 of Lowe in charge - Manager change, May, we are very likely (certainly if things don;t change) going to be RELEGATED. Instability, seriously, you can;t see it????? Promotions, now there's something yopu won;t see again for a while. Now, you talk about 'the long term'. What improvements, building blocks, investments do you see as being 'for the future'? Currently, we are heading down. We have literally no pro's left at this club, relegation will see Perry gone, Surman and Lallana gone, Skacel gone, Euell, Rasiak, BWP, Saga, in fact, ALL senior pro's gone gone gone. Then, we have to somehow find a team that can play and 'survive' in League 1. No money, poor, poor relations with players and agents, lack of commitment to players' development, our name will be mud. WHO in their right mind will want to play for us considering all of the above? My guess is NOBODY! Then what AdrianSFC, in this 'long term' vision? No senior pro's, no money, probably in administration, possibly lose our ground! This vision of yours, where's the realism in it? When does it get BETTER? When we're in the Ryman League? You are seriously living in dreamland if you think we're improving! But you keep sitting there, lapping up the bull! We're in the sh*t BIG TIME! Things are NOT getting better, NOW or in the 'LONG TERM'! Unless someone does something real quick, this is it matey, Luton will show you what we're in for, go and ask their fans about the 'future', that will hopefully bring you back to planet Earth! We are f*cked. You better believe it. And unless things change RIGHT NOW, that's it everything will be gone. Don;t believe me, just keep going and take a camera, record the fall for prosperity, maybe you could sell it as a documentary. Happy New Year! ottery st mary Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Lowe has to go now and don't even think of Wotte or your present coaches. Leave the decision making to those who know something about football and business, as you have failed at both everytime. We need the other Directors to see now, Lowe must go for the sake of the club. They must appoint a leader for the whole club and a Director of Football/Manager, now. Lowe to go now, PLEASE.

Saint Billy Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I know it has been mentioned many times before but unless the fans unite and boycot, this mess will continue. It is the only one and true effective weapon we hold, and yes it will hurt the club but the eventual gain is worth it. And to all those that respond with "what are the alternatives", the alternatives are that Lowe will not be orchestrating our doom and that a manager can be put in place who knows what he is doing.
